A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED AS A FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY PLACEMENT.  GO TO OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org  AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE FORM.  WE WILL NOT HAVE ANY CONVERSATION UNTIL WE KNOW IF YOU MEET THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION.  SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND PREVIOUS COLLIE EXPERIENCE.  WE HATE DISAPPOINTING HUMANS, BUT WITH US, IT IS DOGGIES FIRST. Remy is the quintessential Collie.  She is a 4-year-old spayed female rough Collie with the glorious colors of Lassie in her coat.  Her beloved owner has found it necessary to move into assisted living and it is impossible for Remy to thrive in that kind of environment.  She needs walks and hikes and to pick up her kids after school and play games with them until dinner time and help with their homework.   Her health is excellent, her temperament is gentle and calm.  She loves everyone and everyone loves her.  When she is out for a walk, people stop them and ask to pet her.  I would too. Remy is a treasure and we will be looking for a family that will make every day a joy for her.  Please consider all of this carefully and only apply if you can provide a lifetime home with all the amenities.  Lassie would expect no less.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am

AS ALWAYS, A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY PLACEMENT.  YOU WILL FND THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  PLEASE READ ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION AND THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION.  GOOD PHONE CONVERSATION WITH THE DIRECTOR, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT OR DIGITAL PHOTOS OF YOUR HOME AND YARD. Skye is the name of this lovely little Collie pup.  She is a tri-headed white rough Collie with beautiful silky white fur on her entire body.  She has been brought UTD on vaccines and is heartworm negative.  When she arrives in Colorado late on 10/16, we will begin the rest of her vet care.  She will have baseline bloodwork of blood chemistries and CBC in preparation for her spay and microchip.  And she will get groomed and receive her first ever dogbed. Skye is a gentle little soul.  At six months of age and 40#, she is a pup that takes cues from the adult dogs around her.  She has been kenneled with other dogs with no problem.  We have no idea about her approval of cats.  And kids are an unknown as well.  Although Collies are generally fabulous with kids, she has never been around them to our knowledge.  Prior Collie experience is a must for a family for Skye. Puppies do best with clear guidelines, positive reinforcement and lots of routine.  Each Collie will come with a Collie book as a gift from us.  It is full of information on the grooming of double coated dogs and other breed specific information that will be helpful as a new Collie owner.  And RMCSR is always available to answer questions and give advice.  Just ask anyone, our Director is always full of advice! We look forward to reading your applications and finding the perfect home for Skye!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am

Have you ever seen a more beautiful Collie??  Romeo is a blue merle headed white rough Collie which means that his body is covered with white silky fur and his head is colored in shades of silver and grey and white.  Very unusual and stunning.  But don't want him because he is beautiful.  Want him because he is a Collie with tons of love to share. Romeo has been vaccinated and is heartworm negative.  As of 10/22 he has been neutered and microchipped with a Home Again microchip with a lifetime database registration.  He has come from Missouri for a lifetime of happiness in Colorado. One of our volunteers, Pat, was in the transport vehicle with Romeo and she has this to say about him,  "Romeo is gentle and affectionate.  He enjoys the company of other dogs but probably would not object to being an only dog and the center of attention.  He is curious about who we are and where we might be headed.  I am including him in our conversation and fully expect him to join in.  If you look into his eyes, he has an old soul." We will start accepting applications for Romeo immediately.  Folks with prior Collie experience would be given preference.  Please tell us why your family would be the right match for Romeo.                  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY CONVERSATION ABOUT ADOPTING FROM OUR ORGANIZATION.   PLEASE GO TO www.colliesheltierescue.org AND READ ABOUT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS (GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT OR DIGITAL PHOTOS.)  I KNOW THAT SEEMS LIKE A LOT BUT WE SCREEN CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS.  THEY DESERVE IT! This sweet Collie had a rough start to his life.  He did not realize that people could be caring and kind.  Wilson came to us badly malnourished with a thin coat in spots and no social skills.  All that has definitely changed.  Look at Wilson now! Wilson is a young adult tri-headed white rough Collie.  He is good with other dogs and cats and eventually should be good with just about anyone as he becomes more confident.  His beautiful silky white fur is coming in well and by winter, he should be ready for cold weather.  He is elegant and prances as he walks with an alert and intelligent gaze.  Being food motivated helps with training and Wilson loves food.   All of his medical care is complete.  Training will come easily once he establishes trust with his new humans.  What Wilson needs is time and patience to prove to him that people are kind and considerate.  He is no more than a puppy in terms of experience and deserves a full and exciting life ahead.  Fabulous folks are out there just waiting for Wilson.  Could that be you?  He will be SO worth it!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am

Austin (although we doubt he knows his name) is a sable-headed white rough Collie that is 3 years old and about 55#.  He is a gentle soul and can be quite affectionate with his humans when he figures out that they will arrive with food regularly and will stop to pet him and stroke his beautiful face.  His vaccines have been brought UTD and he is heartworm negative.  He arrived in Colorado by transport late on the evening of 10/16 and we will arrange for his pre-anesthetic blood work, neuter and microchip. Austin is good with other dogs, being from a multi-dog situation.  Cats and kids, we do not know yet.  But Collies are generally great with kids and we would expect Austin to be.  He is even-tempered and gentle, as are most Collies.  His kennel is always kept clean so that is a bonus.  Training a herding dog is pretty straight-forward.  You give them the written training manual, they read it twice....and Voila!  A well trained dog.  LOL  Really, use gentle, repetitive commands reinforced with small treats.  My favorite trainer of all time swore by tiny bits of hotdogs carried in a pouch and all the dogs he ever worked with adored him. Austin is only 53.8# and should weigh at least 65-70#.  So we have made the decision to hold off on his neuter for a couple of weeks while he gets settled and comfortable.  We will work very closely with his new family to ensure his safety and get him everything he needs. Folks with prior Collie experience with have priority for adoption.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am

Rio is ready to meet the world!  He is a 3-year-old neutered male sable and white rough coated Collie.  He is also, according to his foster mom, cuddly, funny, engaged, playful and sweet.  His owner is no longer able to care for him, a sad commentary on life that we hear much too often these days.  But Rio has moved seamlessly into a foster home that has gotten to know him very well and will be integral to finding him just the right match. A 3-year-old rough Collie is just about perfect.  They are no longer nibbling on your furniture or peeing on the floor in the kitchen.  They are certainly ready for the next adventure and to endear themselves to an entire family, adults and kids and other critter family members.  Rio is an easy-going fellow who loves everyone and everything.  He takes great pride in finding things like a blanket or a sock or a shoe and carrying the item around.  He has never been destructive or ruined anything.  That is just his quirky sense of humor showing itself. All of Rio's veterinary care is completed and all he needs is the right family to love and be loved forever.  Prior Collie experience and a playful companion dog are required to make things perfect.  Rio will be helping to screen the applications.  Collies are just that smart!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 11:18 am

Story
Meet Tecca, Tecca is a super sweet girl that found herself in a high kill shelter in New Mexico and no one to come claim her. Her time was up in the shelter so to save her we brought her here to Colorado. Tecca is a super sweet girl that is shy at first but loves everyone she meets. She is only about 45 lbs and estimated to be around 4 1/2 years old. Tecca's DNA results are back and she is not a Doberman or even a Doberman Mix. We are a little shocked by the results but she is Malamute, Staffordshire , Cattle Dog mix....but we are pretty skeptical of those results to say the least with her size lol. Tecca is good with other dogs, kids that are respectful of dog space and cats. Tecca is also already house trained and does well in crates. Tecca has been spayed and then we found out that someone shot her several times with air rifle pellets. The pellets that could be removed have been but there are three left. Tecca does require a home with no chickens, ducks or other pet birds. Unless they can be kept completely safe from dogs. Tecca is also looking for a new foster due to her dislike of birds. To apply to foster Tecca please go to www.savingdobermankind.org/foster-application To apply to adopt Tecca please go to www.savingdobermankind.org/adoption-application All animals adopted from us are fully vetted including spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test and deworming. Please email us at HookedOnDobies@gmail.com, visit our Facebook page www.facebook.com/savingdobermankind or webpage https://www.savingdobermankind.org to request an application, inquire about an adoption fee, or to learn more! We do require a completed adoption application to be submitted before discussing details of a specific Doberman. We DO NOT have a central location, out foster homes are located throughout our geographic region including CO, WY, NM, UT and TX. We strive to PROTECT the privacy of out fosters. ALL Doberman meet and greets are conducted in a neutral meeting location made by appointment only.
