Story
Toffee is a well rounded and playful puppy who plays well with others and ignores our cat.  This little tyke is 10 pounds and 11 weeks old (understand this is less than 80 days!).  Toffee was a stray on the Navajo Nation so nothing is known about his parentage.  Foster parents guess him to be a mix of Collie, Aussie Shepherd and Husky.  His paws are not big, but he is think and fuzzy, so betting he will be at least 60 pounds.  Toffee loves batting with his paws and sometimes prances with his front legs like a show horse.  We captured a picture of this below. Right now, he does not exhibit loving the cold, but would be surprised if he does not love the snow later when he is not so small.  Right now he much prefers to be cuddled on the sofa and also loves taking his toy and hiding under the sofa in order to watch all the comings and goings in his busy foster home (he will be too big to fit under there soon)! Toffee is spayed, chipped, fully vaccinated and does well using pee pads.  Puppies can typically hold pee for one hour for every month, so 3 hours should be the max expectation for a 11 week old (not quite 3 months old) puppy.  Come meet this exceptionally cute and sweet puppy fostered in Arvada.  Toffee is neutered, chipped, fully vaccinated.  Apply with no obligation to adopt.   ##2226040##

Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog that needs our help. Stevie is the kind of pup who, once comfortable in her environment, snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder breathing her warm breath. She's so sweet and so very loving and irresistible that you just can't help falling head over heels in love. This is the case unless a dog like Stevie is wandering terrifying city streets or is scheduled for euthanasia in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space, Farfel's Rescue received a plea from Rescued Pets Movement in Texas to save the life of Stevie, an 8 month old, 30 lb Collie / Cattle Dog mix that is nothing but pure love! (Estimated to be about 36 lbs full grown). Shelter personnel fell in love with this pup's sweet energy and desire to please all those that are kind to her. We responded almost immediately that we'd be more than happy to accept precious Stevie into Farfel's Rescue. Stevie is such a perfect size and weight to be able to accompany her family just about everywhere a smaller-sized dog is welcome. This sweetie-pie will fit right in due to her great temperament and desire to please. Stevie is already starting to understand that kind and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. Our dream for this cuddly pup is a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. As Stevie becomes comfortable in her forever home, she will blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more she will shine with her accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see Stevie in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some couch-time with belly rubs would be perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a very smart and active pup like Stevie the skills to accompany their family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area. Stevie will be a loving and devoted companion for very active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible young pup. Stevie would enjoy another fun-loving dog to play with...she's so fun to watch as she puts her positive energy into enjoying the day with a furry friend. This engaging girl would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and cuddles periodically throughout the day that this life-style brings. Stevie is up to date on her vetting and vaccinations to stay true to Farfel's commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. She has also been spayed to fulfill our commitment to ending the tragic canine overpopulation challenge. Stevie is available for adoption now! Applications are currently being accepted for this gorgeous girl and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Stevie, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
Lottie is an energetic youngster! After making a long trip up from Texas, she is surely ready to get out of the shelter and explore Colorado this fall and winter - and she LOVES the snow! Lottie would enjoy having another playful pup to play with in her next home, but due to her rambunctious nature, HSBV will only adopt Lottie to a home with children over the age of 12.

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY PLACEMENT.  YOU WILL FIND THE ONLINE APP ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  PLEASE READ ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION AND THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION.   A GOOD PHONE CONVERSATION WITH OUR DIRECTOR,SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT OR DIGITAL PHOTOS OF YOUR YARD AND HOME.  IT'S A LOT OF RIGAMAROLE TO GO THEOUGH, BUT WE TAKE DOG RESCUE VERY SERIOUSLY. Rio is ready to meet the world!  He is a 3-year-old neutered male sable and white rough coated Collie.  He is also, according to his foster mom, cuddly, funny, engaged, playful and sweet.  His owner is no longer able to care for him, a sad commentary on life that we hear much too often these days.  But Rio has moved seamlessly into a foster home that has gotten to know him very well and will be integral to finding him just the right match. A 3-year-old rough Collie is just about perfect.  They are no longer nibbling on your furniture or peeing on the floor in the kitchen.  They are certainly ready for the next adventure and to endear themselves to an entire family, adults and kids and other critter family members.  Rio is an easy-going fellow who loves everyone and everything.  He takes great pride in finding things like a blanket or a sock or a shoe and carrying the item around.  He has never been destructive or ruined anything.  That is just his quirky sense of humor showing itself. All of Rio's veterinary care is completed and all he needs is the right family to love and be loved forever.  Prior Collie experience and a playful companion dog are required to make things perfect.  Rio will be helping to screen the applications.  Collies are just that smart!    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 17, 2024, 2:14 pm

Story
AS ALWAYS, A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY PLACEMENT.  YOU WILL FIND THE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.   PLEASE READ ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION AND THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADOPTION.  A GOOD PHONE CONVERSATION WITH OUR DIRECTOR, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT OR DIGITAL PHOTOS OF YOUR YARD AND HOME.  IT IS A LOT OF RIGAMAROLE TO GO THROUGH, BUT WE TAKE DOG RESCUE VERY SERIOUSLY. Austin (although we doubt he knows his name) is a sable-headed white rough Collie that is 3 years old and about 55#.  He is a gentle soul and can be quite affectionate with his humans when he figures out that they will arrive with food regularly and will stop to pet him and stroke his beautiful face.  His vaccines have been brought UTD and he is heartworm negative.  He arrived in Colorado by transport late on the evening of 10/16 and we will arrange for his pre-anesthetic blood work, neuter and microchip. Austin is good with other dogs, being from a multi-dog situation.  Cats and kids, we do not know yet.  But Collies are generally great with kids and we would expect Austin to be.  He is even-tempered and gentle, as are most Collies.  His kennel is always kept clean so that is a bonus.  Training a herding dog is pretty straight-forward.  You give them the written training manual, they read it twice....and Voila!  A well trained dog.  LOL  Really, use gentle, repetitive commands reinforced with small treats.  My favorite trainer of all time swore by tiny bits of hotdogs carried in a pouch and all the dogs he ever worked with adored him. Austin is only 53.8# and should weigh at least 65-70#.  So we have made the decision to hold off on his neuter for a couple of weeks while he gets settled and comfortable.  We will work very closely with his new family to ensure his safety and get him everything he needs. Folks with prior Collie experience with have priority for adoption.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 17, 2024, 2:14 pm

Story
A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS REQUIRED BEFORE ANY CONVERSATION ABOUT ADOPTING FROM OUR ORGANIZATION.   PLEASE GO TO www.colliesheltierescue.org AND READ ABOUT THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS (GOOD PHONE INTERVIEW, SECURELY FENCED YARD, FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A HOME VISIT OR DIGITAL PHOTOS.)  I KNOW THAT SEEMS LIKE A LOT BUT WE SCREEN CAREFULLY FOR THE SAKE OF THE DOGS.  THEY DESERVE IT! This sweet Collie had a rough start to his life.  He did not realize that people could be caring and kind.  Wilson came to us badly malnourished with a thin coat in spots and no social skills.  All that has definitely changed.  Look at Wilson now! Wilson is a young adult tri-headed white rough Collie.  He is good with other dogs and cats and eventually should be good with just about anyone as he becomes more confident.  His beautiful silky white fur is coming in well and by winter, he should be ready for cold weather.  He is elegant and prances as he walks with an alert and intelligent gaze.  Being food motivated helps with training and Wilson loves food.   All of his medical care is complete.  Training will come easily once he establishes trust with his new humans.  What Wilson needs is time and patience to prove to him that people are kind and considerate.  He is no more than a puppy in terms of experience and deserves a full and exciting life ahead.  Fabulous folks are out there just waiting for Wilson.  Could that be you?  He will be SO worth it!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 17, 2024, 2:14 pm
