He came to us from a hoarding cruelty case in TN with 8 dogs where he was kept outside. The shelter asked for our help. No other information was available. He is fully vetted, neutered, micro-chipped and his ear infection is improving. He is a friendly guy who wants love and affection, longs for a stable home and did okay at the vet. He is crate trained and rides well in a vehicle. He needs your help with house training and leash training, and he will bark at other dogs on a walk so less distractions and no visiting pet stores best until he gains confidence. He will do well with a dog social Cocker Spaniel who would love a pal to hang with or as your only dog. Due to his unknown past, no kids in the home and a fenced yard is a must. He is okay with Cocker Spaniel dogs his size but is not good with big dogs and no history with cats. This boy has had little to no love or attention. He is a loving, sweet dog with a few issues that need work. With your help and a little kindness, he can become a wonderful house companion. He is such a good boy and a nice dog. Please give him this 2nd chance to know the real meaning of love and proper care. Your willingness to work with him on issues is a plus. Adoption fee $500

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this very sweet guy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Jackson, a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel. He was surrendered to a NC Shelter with the owners saying he snapped at their kids when they wouldn't share their food with him. The shelter was overcrowded so he came to us. This very handsome, friendly boy is now groomed and is just a BIG boned Cocker Spaniel. He is heartworm negative, neutered and has had a dental. He favors men over women. Due to a somewhat unknown past, absolutely no kids in his new home. He is a happy affectionate guy most of the time. He does have some issues from being flown to NC as a pup. His lack of social skills in his early years is probably why he doesn't do well with other dogs. He suffers from anxiety issues when groomed and riding in a vehicle he will bark at dogs or any kind of loud noises. We suggest that he is securely tied into the back seat, and you will need to find a very patient groomer to work with him. He is not a playful dog and prefers to just hang out as your only dog. He is strong on a leash and would not be a good choice for an elderly owner. A calm, stable home with a caring owner who will spend quality time working with him is best. An adult home with no kids, some house training and a fenced yard is best for him. He will do well as your only dog. Adoption fee $400

Story
No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Millie, a shy, very sweet, young healthy 2-year-old red buff Cocker Spaniel girl weighing about 18 pounds. She was found as a stray running around in Georgia and Animal Control brought her in. She could only go to a rescue so one of our volunteers went to pick her up and found that she was horribly matted and stinky. Luckily, she cleaned her up a bit including cutting off all of the horrible, matted stuff before she brought her to the rescue. Her ideal home is with children 10 and older, a fenced yard and an owner who can work with her on issues like leash training, house training and earning her trust. She is doing well with crate training and won't pee if let out often, and she loves playing with a favorite ball but can be possessive. She gets along with other dogs but lacks social skills when trying to get attention from you. She tends to scratch you and may not be the best with a senior owner unless you are willing to wear pants and long sleeves until she learns it is not necessary. She will do well in a new home with another social Cocker Spaniel pal who would love a companion. She came to us timid, submissive, skinny, scared and very shy. She has had a dental and is now spayed. She was bunny hopping some when walking her on a leash, so we spoke with the surgeon to see if we were looking at an ACL issue. Luckily, he said no surgery needed for her leg issue as it is only a grade 2 and isn't bad enough to put her through it. She is now on a joint supplement, and we haven't seen the bunny hopping anymore. The leg issue may have been caused by a lack of grooming which caused severe matting and possibly hindered the use of her leg. Her adoption fee $500

Donations needed and greatly appreciated to help with Vet care. We had to start from scratch and get seizure issues under control. Donate by check to CCR. P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081; PayPal to larrydonnacarp@AOL.com; Venmo @ Donna Carpenter-38. Thank you for your kindness. No Phone Calls. This Cocker girl will not be available until all vetting needs are done and seizure status is stable. No first-time adopters and previous pet owners must have a vet reference that we can check saying that they have had experience with seizure dogs. If interested in adopting and you are willing to wait for her to get all vet care - please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Mandy, a 3 1/2-year-old, petite black Cocker Spaniel girl about 15 pounds. She was adopted from our rescue as a very young pup and has been returned to us from the owners because they are having a baby, and she had a couple of seizures this year. They claim they didn't want her to start having a lot more seizures from being over stimulated from excitement and stress. She does seem to be house trained but as you can see, she wasn't taken care of the best and came back to us looking pretty awful. Please consider donating to her care. This sweet, friendly girl is a small Special Needs Seizure dog and will need a calm home environment. From what we have seen, her triggers do seem to be from stress, too much excitement and not enough food; she came in weighing 12 pounds. And, until now, she has had no vet care done since she left here as a puppy including not being spayed at 6 months like we require from adopters, no necessary vet visits or vaccines, no heartworm/flea prevention and nothing done when she started having seizures. We are starting from square one to get this girl healthy. At recent vet visit, our vet decided no seizure meds at this time, but she might still need them in the future. After all vetting is completed and she is ready, her ideal home will be with an experienced owner in a calm, all adult home with no children and a fenced yard is a must. She deserves a 2nd chance to have a forever home where she will be taken care of properly. She is a real sweetheart. Please donate to her care as shown above. Her adoption fee is $400

Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 1/14/2024 Reason for being in rescue: owner release/health of owner Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? None noted.  Precious was overweight when she arrived at the farm - she has gone from well over 40 lbs to a healthy 32 lbs.  At one point in the past, Precious was on apoquel but has not been for several years. Weight: 32 lbs Height: 16 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Since you’re reading this, you’re obviously looking for a new best friend! And you’re in luck, because so is Precious! She doesn’t care how old you are, if you’re a single adopter or a family, the only thing that matters to her is that you have an endless supply of belly rubs and milk bones! Oh, and no small dogs. They make her feel uneasy and stressed! However, she loves dogs her size or bigger.  Louie the small standard is her current BFF.   Precious’s perfect match is ideally someone with a large breed, calm dog who would allow Precious to play on her own terms. Our sweet girl is now officially considered a senior citizen (over 8 years), therefore when she gets tired, she’s finished with playtime and immediately seeks the comfiest spot in the room. Precious would benefit most from someone who is home the majority of the time but wouldn’t mind being alone for a couple hours throughout the day. Precious does not mind children ages 10 and up as long as they respect her boundaries and remain gentle with her as she’s no longer a resilient little puppy anymore! She is stable, mature and sensitive in all the best ways. Precious would love a fenced in yard but would be fine with not having one as long as adopters plan to make sure she gets plenty of exercise to stay healthy. She’s a very adjustable girl if you remain patient with her! What is my personality like? This sweet, laid-back girl adores anyone that has two hands to love on her with. Precious can be a little shy at first, but if you have treats or attention to offer, she will quickly accept you as her new cuddle buddy and best friend. She enjoys the slow life and is in no rush to get to where she’s going! She’s laid back and patient but loves to play and romp on her own terms! Precious has great manners and listens to her caregivers very well with no issues. When she’s not admiring your every move, she likes to sit in the comfort of your AC .. we mean, your company! She enjoys the outdoors in increments and does routine exploring when she goes out to potty, but it doesn’t take her long and she’s ready to come back inside and see what’s going on! Her favorite things in life are the simple things … sleeping in, treats at breakfast, comfy beds, belly rubs and the list goes on! Shes an extremely easy going, independent girl when she is comfortable. Although Precious can be very playful at times, keep in mind that she is a mature dog. She loves when you respect her boundaries and allow her to be independent. For instance, she does NOT like to be picked up and will let out a squeal if you try to do so. Precious is extremely well rounded and behaved nonetheless. She is a sweet & affectionate girl who would love nothing more than to join your family and spend the rest of her days being appreciated for the dog that she is. How do I act when I first meet new people? There is no doubt that Precious adores humans and the love they have to give, but she is just a little shy upon meeting new people as many dogs are. As long as you have treats, patience and lots of affection to give, she will open up just fine when she realizes she’s comfortable and safe with you. When precious is uncomfortable however, or a stranger walks into her living area she does tend to bark, but we believe it’s just to let everyone know someone is approaching! As long as you’re willing to let her approach you first and not push her, she opens up fairly quick!   Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates Precious' birthday to be 2/16/2016. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. December 19, 2024, 4:18 pm

She is also on gabapentin but gabapentin at her dose must be purchased from your vet.  She also has a heart murmur (1/6) that does not require any meds.  She is currently on cytopoint which runs roughly $100 per month. We think that with a dedicated owner who will keep her on specific diet and give her regular baths, that this can be discontinued. She was not on it before she came to us.   Weight: 20 lb but needs to gain up to about 22 lbs Height: 14 in at the shoulder Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $1 - I am priceless Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Ginger is a middle-aged girl who's looking to spend the best years of her life in a home, not in a kennel.  She would love to go with her BFF Precious. They have always lived together. Both Ginger and Precious are taking a while to adjust to living here at CPR. They are used to living in a house and being pampered and loved on constantly. They are looking for a forever family that can once again, provide them with that life that they are so accustomed to. They need a calm home with owners that will be home most, if not all, of the day. They will do well in either an apartment or house. What is my personality like? Ginger and Precious have warmed up considerably since first coming to us but both are still apprehensive about their surroundings. Their personalities will shine once they are safely lodged in their new forever home. Ginger is the more confident of the two and Precious takes her cues from Ginger. Neither girl will rush to meet you or jump on you. They both love affection being shown to them. How do I act when I first meet new people? Ginger is wary but loves pets and any attention paid to her as it's what she had come to expect from her former home. Sit down on the floor, give her a minute or five, and let come to you. That is the best way to approach Ginger. When you do you will see her come in for pets. Then she will climb into your lap for ear rubs and more pets. She may even provide a few wet kisses if you are lucky. When you stop petting Ginger she'll shoot you a side eye or a fallen glare as if to say, "I have not given you permission to stop petting me." She thinks she's royalty and who's to tell her that she's not?  Nothing stops her butt wiggle!   Other tips and tidbits: Our vet estimates Ginger's birthday to be 3/31/2014. House trained?
