Story
Donations needed and greatly appreciated to help with Vet care. We had to start from scratch and get seizure issues under control. Donate by check to CCR. P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081; PayPal to larrydonnacarp@AOL.com; Venmo @ Donna Carpenter-38. Thank you for your kindness. No Phone Calls. This Cocker girl will not be available until all vetting needs are done and seizure status is stable. No first-time adopters and previous pet owners must have a vet reference that we can check saying that they have had experience with seizure dogs. If interested in adopting and you are willing to wait for her to get all vet care - please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Mandy, a 3 1/2-year-old, petite black Cocker Spaniel girl about 15 pounds. She was adopted from our rescue as a very young pup and has been returned to us from the owners because they are having a baby, and she had a couple of seizures this year. They claim they didn't want her to start having a lot more seizures from being over stimulated from excitement and stress. She does seem to be house trained but as you can see, she wasn't taken care of the best and came back to us looking pretty awful. Please consider donating to her care. This sweet, friendly girl is a small Special Needs Seizure dog and will need a calm home environment. From what we have seen, her triggers do seem to be from stress, too much excitement and not enough food; she came in weighing 12 pounds. And, until now, she has had no vet care done since she left here as a puppy including not being spayed at 6 months like we require from adopters, no necessary vet visits or vaccines, no heartworm/flea prevention and nothing done when she started having seizures. We are starting from square one to get this girl healthy. At recent vet visit, our vet decided no seizure meds at this time, but she might still need them in the future. After all vetting is completed and she is ready, her ideal home will be with an experienced owner in a calm, all adult home with no children and a fenced yard is a must. She deserves a 2nd chance to have a forever home where she will be taken care of properly. She is a real sweetheart. Please donate to her care as shown above. Her adoption fee is $400

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Millie, a shy, very sweet, young healthy 2-year-old red buff Cocker Spaniel girl weighing about 18 pounds. She was found as a stray running around in Georgia and Animal Control brought her in. She could only go to a rescue so one of our volunteers went to pick her up and found that she was horribly matted and stinky. Luckily, she cleaned her up a bit including cutting off all of the horrible, matted stuff before she brought her to the rescue. Her ideal home is with children 10 and older, a fenced yard and an owner who can work with her on issues like leash training, house training and earning her trust. She is doing well with crate training and won't pee if let out often, and she loves playing with a favorite ball but can be possessive. She gets along with other dogs but lacks social skills when trying to get attention from you. She tends to scratch you and may not be the best with a senior owner unless you are willing to wear pants and long sleeves until she learns it is not necessary. She will do well in a new home with another social Cocker Spaniel pal who would love a companion. She came to us timid, submissive, skinny, scared and very shy. She has had a dental and is now spayed. She was bunny hopping some when walking her on a leash, so we spoke with the surgeon to see if we were looking at an ACL issue. Luckily, he said no surgery needed for her leg issue as it is only a grade 2 and isn't bad enough to put her through it. She is now on a joint supplement, and we haven't seen the bunny hopping anymore. The leg issue may have been caused by a lack of grooming which caused severe matting and possibly hindered the use of her leg. Her adoption fee $500

PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING !! Meet Henry, Henry is a 2 year old cocker spaniel. For a little guy he has a BIG attitude. He takes time to warm up to you. Henry DOES NOT like any form of restraint. He is heartworm negative and is pending getting neutered . Due to his trust issues he can not go to any household that has children. A fenced in yard is a must due to his energy level. HIGH ENERGY.
