He came to us from a hoarding cruelty case in TN with 8 dogs where he was kept outside. The shelter asked for our help. No other information was available. He is fully vetted, neutered, micro-chipped and his ear infection is improving. He is a friendly guy who wants love and affection, longs for a stable home and did okay at the vet. He is crate trained and rides well in a vehicle. He needs your help with house training and leash training, and he will bark at other dogs on a walk so less distractions and no visiting pet stores best until he gains confidence. He will do well with a dog social Cocker Spaniel who would love a pal to hang with or as your only dog. Due to his unknown past, no kids in the home and a fenced yard is a must. He is okay with Cocker Spaniel dogs his size but is not good with big dogs and no history with cats. This boy has had little to no love or attention. He is a loving, sweet dog with a few issues that need work. With your help and a little kindness, he can become a wonderful house companion. He is such a good boy and a nice dog. Please give him this 2nd chance to know the real meaning of love and proper care. Your willingness to work with him on issues is a plus. Adoption fee $500

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this very sweet guy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Jackson, a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel. He was surrendered to a NC Shelter with the owners saying he snapped at their kids when they wouldn't share their food with him. The shelter was overcrowded so he came to us. This very handsome, friendly boy is now groomed and is just a BIG boned Cocker Spaniel. He is heartworm negative, neutered and has had a dental. He favors men over women. Due to a somewhat unknown past, absolutely no kids in his new home. He is a happy affectionate guy most of the time. He does have some issues from being flown to NC as a pup. His lack of social skills in his early years is probably why he doesn't do well with other dogs. He suffers from anxiety issues when groomed and riding in a vehicle he will bark at dogs or any kind of loud noises. We suggest that he is securely tied into the back seat, and you will need to find a very patient groomer to work with him. He is not a playful dog and prefers to just hang out as your only dog. He is strong on a leash and would not be a good choice for an elderly owner. A calm, stable home with a caring owner who will spend quality time working with him is best. An adult home with no kids, some house training and a fenced yard is best for him. He will do well as your only dog. Adoption fee $400

Story
No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Millie, a shy, very sweet, young healthy 2-year-old red buff Cocker Spaniel girl weighing about 18 pounds. She was found as a stray running around in Georgia and Animal Control brought her in. She could only go to a rescue so one of our volunteers went to pick her up and found that she was horribly matted and stinky. Luckily, she cleaned her up a bit including cutting off all of the horrible, matted stuff before she brought her to the rescue. Her ideal home is with children 10 and older, a fenced yard and an owner who can work with her on issues like leash training, house training and earning her trust. She is doing well with crate training and won't pee if let out often, and she loves playing with a favorite ball but can be possessive. She is dog social and will do well in a new home with another social Cocker Spaniel pal who would love a companion. She came to us timid, submissive, skinny, scared and very shy. She has had a dental and is now spayed. She was bunny hopping some when walking her on a leash, so we spoke with the surgeon to see if we were looking at an ACL issue. Luckily, he said no surgery needed for her leg issue as it is only a grade 2 and isn't bad enough to put her through it. She is now on a joint supplement, and we haven't seen the bunny hopping anymore. The leg issue may have been caused by a lack of grooming which caused severe matting and possibly hindered the use of her leg. Her adoption fee $500
