Story
No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this nice Cocker Spaniel boy, he will probably be ready for adoption by the end of November. He has finished his heartworm treatment and will be re-tested again to see if he is negative. If interested and you can wait until he is ready, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Henry, a 4-year-old Cocker boy who came into rescue very neglected, scared and skinny. He is a sweet boy who craves attention. He always lived outside and has never known love or any kind of attention. His owners neglected him, abused him and made him suffer from lack of food, basic grooming, vet care and no heartworm or flea prevention. He tested as high heartworm positive because they just didn't care. The staff at this particular NC shelter was tipped of last October to investigate this as a cruelty case. The owners were cautioned to get this dog groomed. He was very overgrown and obviously neglected. The shelter folks went back to this home again this year to check on him. He was badly matted with ears stuck to his head. After questioning them again about neglect of care, they agreed to surrender him over to the shelter. To be groomed he was sedated, and he got neutered. The shelter asked for rescue help due to high heartworm positive. We said yes, and they transported him to us. Here, he has had heartworm treatment, is updated on vet needs and eventually will be healthy enough to find a forever home. He will be re-tested next month. He deserves a 2nd chance to experience happiness, kindness and real love. This boy is very loving, has gained weight and craves attention. He does have some issues, one of which is reacting to dogs walking past him when crated. He does not do well being groomed and will always need a very patient groomer after always being so badly neglected and overgrown by the owners. He had heartworm treatment and will be re-tested in November. If bloodwork shows negative, he will have a dental. He seems to prefer woman over men. No kids, house training help and a fenced yard is a must. He will be available for adoption after all of his vetting needs are done and he is healthy. Please donate to help with his care until he can be adopted. Any amount is appreciated. When ready, his adoption fee will be $400

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this Cocker Spaniel boy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Haggard, a 2-year-old black n white parti Cocker Boy. He came to us from a hoarding cruelty case in TN with 8 dogs where he was kept outside. The shelter asked for our help. No other information was available. He is fully vetted, neutered, micro-chipped and his ear infection is improving. He is a friendly guy who wants love and affection, longs for a stable home and did okay at the vet. He is crate trained and rides well in a vehicle. He needs your help with house training and leash training, and he will bark at other dogs on a walk so less distractions and no visiting pet stores best until he gains confidence. He will do well with a dog social Cocker Spaniel who would love a pal to hang with or as your only dog. Due to his unknown past, no kids in the home and a fenced yard is a must. He is okay with Cocker Spaniel dogs his size but is not good with big dogs and no history with cats. This boy has had little to no love or attention. He is a loving, sweet dog with a few issues that need work. With your help and a little kindness, he can become a wonderful house companion. He is such a good boy and a nice dog. Please give him this 2nd chance to know the real meaning of love and proper care. Your willingness to work with him on issues is a plus. Adoption fee $500

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this very sweet guy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Jackson, a 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel. He was surrendered to a NC Shelter with the owners saying he snapped at their kids when they wouldn't share their food with him. The shelter was overcrowded so he came to us. This very handsome, friendly boy is now groomed and is just a BIG boned Cocker Spaniel. He is heartworm negative, neutered and has had a dental. He favors men over women. Due to a somewhat unknown past, absolutely no kids in his new home. He is a happy affectionate guy most of the time. He does have some issues from being flown to NC as a pup. His lack of social skills in his early years is probably why he doesn't do well with other dogs. He suffers from anxiety issues when groomed and riding in a vehicle he will bark at dogs or any kind of loud noises. We suggest that he is securely tied into the back seat, and you will need to find a very patient groomer to work with him. He is not a playful dog and prefers to just hang out as your only dog. He is strong on a leash and would not be a good choice for an elderly owner. A calm, stable home with a caring owner who will spend quality time working with him is best. An adult home with no kids, some house training and a fenced yard is best for him. He will do well as your only dog. Adoption fee $400

NO Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Donations appreciated for vet care. You can send a check to CCR, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or PayPal or Venmo. Thank you for your kindness. Meet Indie. She is a sweet, friendly Cocker Spaniel mix about 5 years old. Our vet thinks she is possibly a Cocker/Shih Tzu. She was found here in NC as an abandoned stray by a Good Samaritan who took her home and contacted rescue. All vetting must be completed before this dog can find a new home. At her first vet visit, she was given a Capstar, updated on shots, wormed and her ear infection was treated. She was just spayed, had a dental and her cherry eye was fixed. She is on dry eye medication but it's not real expensive. We sent her to the groomer where she did not do well. This said, she will need a kind, patient groomer after she is done with all vetting and can find a forever home. She will need house training, is an escape artist and will need a securely fenced yard. She can be with older teen kids, is strong on a leash and can be stubborn at times. Due to an unknown past, we feel that she should be your only dog. Her adoption fee is $400 after all vetting is completed.

Donations Needed and appreciated for vet care. Please donate to CCR by PayPal, Venmo or you can send a check to CCR, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081. All vetting needs must be done before this dog can find his new home. No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this young Cocker Spaniel boy, please fill out an application by going to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Email your filled out application back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Beau. He is a big boned, black n sable, 7- to 10-month-old Cocker Spaniel boy. He was found abandoned and left in a locked-up basketball court in NC by a Good Samaritan Lady. This family couldn't keep him, reached out to a shelter and they told her to contact our rescue after no one was looking for him. He is a friendly boy and can be playful. He is scheduled to have his cherry eye repaired; he will be updated on vet care and neutered. Due to his unknown past and no history with kids, we feel he will do best in an adult only home as your only dog. He will need leash training and house training. A securely fenced yard is suggested so that he can safely play outside on nice days. He can be vocal at times, so no apartments or condos. Patience and quality time with you is a huge plus so that this youngster can learn to be a favorite companion. He is a good boy and deserves to be loved. The ideal home will be with adults, no children and a fenced yard. Having a stable loving family life where he can grow up and be happy will be a huge plus. He deserves to enjoy life, be loved, well cared for and spend quality time as a house dog. If any issues come up after he is adopted out, you must be willing to work with him and not give up on him. After all vetting is completed, his adoption fee will be $500.
