LULU Breed: longhair chihuahuha Age: 9 years Weight: 12 pounds Adoption Fee: $325 Vetting Status: spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative and maintained on preventatives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LULU is an energetic 9-year-old chihuahua mix who loves lounging with her people, when not busy securing her territory from intruders like those evil squirrels or dumb birds. If you’re looking for a dog that will be your constant companion, Lulu is the dog for you. She loves spending time with you, either at your feet or on your lap. She tolerates other dogs & even the occasional cat, but would rather be your only dog. Lap time & cuddles are a must. Large dogs or small humans are bleh & to be barked at until they go away. She is housetrained & OK on a leash, so an apartment would be acceptable to Lulu.... though she may make you carry her up any stairs (doesn't every princess?). If you think LULU is the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LULU is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!

Story
Honey is a 9 yr old chi-weenie mix who needs a loving, patient home. She’s sweet, and loves cuddling, car rides, and lounging. Honey enjoys walks, is food motivated, and is great with small children and other animals. While she can be picky about her company, she is loyal and loving to those she trusts. She’ll warm up to new people with patience and training—she got used to two of my exes this way. I’m rehoming her b/c I just moved & my new 60-hr work weeks are unfair to her. She’d thrive in a quiet suburbia where she can feel safe, as the city and noise makes her anxious. She can be an only child, as she was, before I started fostering her “cat cousins”. I think she would REALLY thrive w/ a confident dog around. When I got her, she was dog besties with a bigger dog. Honey is the perfect companion for anyone seeking a gentle, alert, and affectionate friend to brighten their day, and can provide her with a stable, calm environment — with the intent to boost her confidence ❤️.

Story
Hello World! My name is Fibi Dove and look at my BEAUTIFUL hair!! I mean look at it! It is all coming in and getting longer and longer!! And I love it!! It may seem a little weird that I am so happy to have hair, but it has been a long-time coming in. Let me tell you, my story. It was a dark and stormy night in a little town in Texas.... Well, I don't really know if it was dark or stormy, but it was in Texas. Anyhow, I was picked up by the dog police in a little town and I was very naked with infected itchy skin that made me nuts. I didn't have very much hair on my body and from my looks of me, it had been that way for a long time. The rescue pulled me from the dog place, and I started on my journey to get well. They tried this med and that antibiotic and this itchy treatment and that shampoo, but nothing worked until they figured out that I am probably allergic to beef and chicken, and who knows what else. My beautiful hair started to come back in when I started eating Salmon and lentil food and getting medicine for allergies from the vet. Finally, the itches were going away!! Yay!! I also was found to have the dreaded heartworms which I have undergone the slow kill treatment for, and I am all finished with that as well. Heartworm medications will be sent with me to continue my treatment routine for a year. During my many vet visits, it was found that I have a 5/6 heart murmur that is being treated with a pet heart medicine for life. I didn't have any symptoms, but they wanted to keep my heart strong, so the medicine was ordered. Because I was on the street for who knows how long, I am a little possessive of my food bowl at feeding time. I live with 3 other chihuahuas and we all eat out of separate bowls in the same room. I will growl at the others if they finish before I do and come to look in my bowl for more. But at 7.5 pounds, I am not much of a threat to anyone, but they listen to me and back off. I also live with cats and several other non-chihuahua dogs, one is 97# and I get along with them all. Personality wise, I am very sweet to people. I love to share you bed or lap and now that my skin is healed up, it is a lot comfier for me and for you to put me there. I do know how to go in and out the doggie door and when that isn't available to me, I have been known to use the potty pads that are out for the 18-year-old chihuahua that lives here with foster mom. Because of my medical history, I will need an adopter who understands my needs and is willing to follow through with my medical routine. If you think you can put up with giving me the pills, which I love in canned cheese on top of my kibble and green beans, then please fill out an application and let's talk! I will be waiting and growing more beautiful hair! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
