Meet Dorothy:
Dorothy—affectionately known as Dottie—is a sweet, sensitive little girl who is looking for a patient and loving home where she can truly shine. She first arrived with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on the November 15 Georgia transport after being surrendered by her previous owner. She was adopted shortly after arriving in Wisconsin but was recently returned when her adopter developed health issues that made it difficult to give Dorothy the exercise and routine she thrives with.
Now settled into her foster home, Dorothy is doing wonderfully and showing more of her personality every day. She can be a little shy at first in new environments, but give her a few days and she blossoms into an affectionate, goofy, and very loving companion. Once she trusts you, she’s a total love bug who enjoys snuggling up next to her people on the couch, curling into fuzzy blankets, or even sleeping in bed with you.
Dorothy absolutely loves other dogs and really gains confidence from having canine friends around. She enjoys playing with her foster siblings, getting a little silly during playtime, and running around the backyard. Because of this, she would likely do best in a home with another friendly dog to help her continue building confidence.
She’s also a great little adventure buddy! Dorothy enjoys outings, walks nicely on a leash, and rides well in the car. She’s both potty trained and crate trained, though she may whine a bit if crated while you’re still home because she’d much rather be hanging out with her people. She has done well out of the crate when left for shorter periods home alone.
Dorothy walks well on a leash but is still learning her leash manners—if the leash is long or you’re not paying attention, she may wrap around you a bit. With a little practice, she’ll have it down in no time!
Dorothy is food-motivated, eager to learn, and already has many good habits in place. She has done well with both dogs and cats in foster care. She has not been around young children, and due to her timid nature she would likely do best in a calmer home with older, respectful kids.
Dorothy is ready to find a safe, patient home where she can continue to build confidence and be the loving, silly companion she was meant to be.
