Story
Meet Checkers! This little guy was found as a stray in a rural Texas town, but he’s ready to trade the streets for a cozy lap! He has adorably unique black-and-white markings (hence the name!) and a heart that just wants to curl up on your lap. He’s great with people, loves a good cuddle, and can’t wait to meet his forever family! FEE INCLUDES: Adopting an adult dog (6 months or older) includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, deworming, flea & tick prevention, heartworm testing, and microchipping. For dogs under 6 months, they receive age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and microchipping. All dogs are spayed/neutered by 6 months, covered within the adoption fee. The procedure must be done at one of our partner clinics. To begin the adoption process, please submit an application on our website: www.hbwi.org/adopt. Once approved, you'll have the opportunity to meet our available dogs. Following the meeting, you can initiate a 5-day Adoption Trial, allowing you to take the dog home. This trial period is designed to ensure the dog is a match for you and aligns with your lifestyle. After the 5-day trial, if all goes well, the adoption will be finalized. Additionally, we require a home visit once the dog is settled in its new home to ensure a smooth transition for both the dog and the adopter.

Story
𝑴𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑴𝒖𝒕𝒕: Princess Snarkle She is the cutest little girl and sooooo sweet! She is altered and heartworm Negative. She is currently living in a foster home in Georgia while she waits for a ride up to Wisconsin with Mutt Life Dog Rescue on 1/11/25. She is a petite girl at only 11 lbs and looks to be a Chihuahua mix. She is friendly with everyone she meets and is a staff favorite at the shelter! She is potty trained and ready to find her forever family! Name: Princess Snarkle Breed: Chihuahua Mix Sex: Female Age: 1 Year Weight: 11 lbs She is currently in a high-kill shelter in Georgia and urgently needs our help! She needs an ADOPTER or a temporary FOSTER home so she can catch a ride with Mutt Life Dog Rescue of Wisconsin on Saturday, January 11th, 2025 to Cedarburg, Wisconsin. If nobody steps up for her, she will be left behind in the shelter, and we don't want her to miss this important chance for a better life. Let's come together to give her the future he deserves! —--------------------------- Thank you for considering adopting from Mutt Life Dog Rescue of Wisconsin. We are a foster-based rescue in South Eastern Wisconsin. We partner with several high-kill shelters in rural Georgia to support dogs in desperate need of help. Our mission is to give these animals a second chance at life and the loving families they deserve. By rescuing them from shelters, we not only save their lives but also open up space for other animals in need, helping to reduce the heartbreaking number of pets that face euthanasia. Together, we can make a difference in their lives and offer them hope for a brighter future. All dogs come with a certified vet inspection, up-to-date vaccines, flea/tick, and heart-worm preventatives. We cover partial reimbursement for spay/neuter costs if they have not already been fixed. To apply to adopt, please fill out an adoption application on our website at (www.muttlife.org) and review the adoption requirements to ensure you meet the necessary criteria to apply! Here is a summary of our adoption process: 1. Apply: Fill out the adoption application on our website completely and submit all necessary documents. 2. Application processing: we do a thorough background check, landlord approval (if applicable) or home ownership verification, vet check, and review your application. This process can take up to 5 business days. 3. Please authorize your vet to release medical information with Mutt Life. 4. Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email. 5. Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit. 6. Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue. 7. Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have. 8. Neuter/spay for puppies: if dogs are adopted before 6 months of age and are not neutered/spayed yet, we will work with you to coordinate an appointment with one of our veterinary clinic partners or you can go through your vet and we will give you a partial adoption fee reimbursement. Check out our website for more information on FOSTERING, VOLUNTEERING, or DONATING!

Story
We've all heard the song Bad Bad Leroy Brown. It's probably playing in your head now (sorry!). Well, we are here to introduce Small, Small Leroy Brown. It's not as catchy, but we think you'll agree he's pretty great, and definitely NOT meaner than a junkyard dog. This delightful young pup is about 8 months old and should weigh about 20 lbs when he's done growing. Leroy is crate trained and working hard at remembering we go potty outside! He loves running around in his yard and going on long walks. He has a great time playing with dogs and would love to have a dog friend to live with. Leroy's perfect family will have lots of energy to keep up with his puppy parties, have lots of toys and bones to play with and no small children. If you're looking for a wonderful small dog to take on adventures and cuddle on the couch while binge watching your favorite movies, look no farther, Leroy is your guy. Apply today!
