Story
Meet our very special boy, Crosby. Crosby has had quite the life! He was saved in September by our friends at Animal Rescue Corps, from a cruelty/hoarding case in Florida, which included over 135 dogs in one dilapidated house, being let to breed and breed while the owner attempted to sell them on Craigslist. Crosby was found missing half of his right testicle and half of his right leg. We will never know what happened to him, but we do know that he will know only kindness from now on! Our medical team here at HP decided that amputating the rest of this leg would be the best for him. He came in very shy and shut down, but we are excited to say that while he recovered in foster care, he blossomed! His foster mom reported that he is a quiet guy, finds comfort in his crate, loves stuffed toys and ropes, and would do great with a doggy buddy. He enjoys walks though isn`t a huge fan of the cold weather, but he is a huge fan of treats! While he did open up with being in foster care for over three weeks, he is still learning what it`s like to fully trust humans. He needs a special, quiet home that will show him lots of patience and give him room to grow! Call Helping Paws to meet this sweet boy!!

Story
Hello big world, my name is Pepper. I recently was transferred here to HP from another shelter in southern IL. I am a really shy and sweet girl. As scared as I can act, I still allow the humans to hold me and take me on walks. I even enjoy snuggling up to them, especially in the cold. They give me lots of love and kisses and I really like that too. I am pretty much potty trained, almost no accidents. I know I can be the best girl in a home setting. Please give me a chance, you won`t regret it. Call HP today and set up an appointment to meet m.D.O.B: 12-10-22

Story
About Me: Name: Domino Breed (or best guess): Chihuahua mix Approximate Age: 8 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 12 lb Adoption Fee: Reduced Fee $300 Requirements: Patient Adopter Why In Rescue: Owner passed away Profile: Domino has been with Bichon and Little Buddies for over 2 years as we have worked with him to have him become comfortable with humans other than his owner.  When he was surrendered, we were told he is paranoid - and that does fit him.  He gets worried when he has a tag on his collar or when he is wearing a sweater.  He has stranger danger, so isn't going to want to be in a household where people are coming and going a lot or where he is expected to go visiting.  While he has some issues, he is a funny and loving guy to the people he has bonded with.  He will sit excitedly, waiting for one of his chosen ones to kneel down and open his kennel door so he can leap out and give a hug.  It is now time for him to venture out and find a family of his own.  While he lived with other dogs in his previous home, at the shelter there are a number of dogs he doesn't get along with - primarily males, so he may do best as an only dog or a female dog with a slow introduction.  Domino went for a short home visit with a volunteer to see how he would be in a home.  He had issues with other dogs in the house when the foster mom had food.  We are hoping for an only dog home for him to lessen the chance for issues if he decided to try to guard his person or his food.  He did warm up to visitors with some time, but will likely always need a slow introduction.   If you are looking to adopt a dog that really needs you, Domino may be that guy.  He is an athletic little guy who will climb up to the top of his kennel so he can look out and see what is going on.  If you can offer Domino a patient and loving home, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we can discuss more things about him. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS November 5, 2024, 8:05 pm

Story
Meet Archie! Age: senior Weight: 10 pounds Good with: kids (I live with two small humans and get along just fine with them), dogs (I prefer smaller dogs, but only bark at bigger dogs so they know who the boss is), I haven't met any cats just yet. House trained: yes, but sometimes I mark, so I wear a belly band so I don't have any accidents, and I really don't mind it one bit. It's easy peasy! Crate trained: yes Hey folks, Archie here! I’m a peppy little frenchie-chi mix. Look at these ears! Adorable!! I’m a friendly little fella and always ready to meet new human friends. Feel free to pick me up! I’ll lick you in the face and snuggle on your lap. I enjoy sleeping on the couch (the top cushion please! I am the boss after all), going for walks and sniffing around the yard. One of my favorite things is chasing toys and ripping all the stuffing out of them! Grr, I’m tough! At night and when the humans are gone for a long time, I snooze in my crate and it's my cozy place. Now that it's getting a bit colder, you can find me under the blanket. I hardly bark, so would probably do fine in an apartment. I’m all ready to go to my new forever home now, so come meet sweet little me! I promise if you make me a part of your family I'll show you all of my love! *Archie is being fostered in Madison, WI. Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs.
