Story
Animal Profile: Jackie is a 1 year old, 10lb chihuahua that has been through it in her short life.Jackie was dumped in a graveyard in Texas with her brother, covered in mange. Once she received treatment and was healthy, she made her way to the PNW, with kennel cough. She recovered from that in foster care, and was adopted. Long story short due to a horrible accident in surgery for a potential obstruction, Jackie lost 75% of her small intestines. Her owner was unable to provide the care she needed during her recovery, and since she was suffering from short bowel syndrome she needed round the clock care. Jackie was returned to the rescue and put in the care of the Assistant Director. Medication and prescription food weren’t working to address her symptoms, so we attacked it from the nutrition side. With lots of patience and a quality diet of Honest Kitchen, dehydrated carrots, and a high dose of digestive herbs and enzymes, Jackie has normal, solid, pick upable poops!! She did so well at an event with 75+ people, she can be shy but girl doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She loves other dogs, big and small, and even plays with cats! She is healthy and ready to find her forever home. Foster Update: Jackie is incredibly curious and goes with the flow. She's got lots of spunk and knows how to go go go, but also has a nice off switch when it comes to snuggling. She loves to play with the resident dogs in her foster home, and would do well with a canine companion or two but it isn't a requirement. Jackie is good in her crate and has good leash manners. She loves attention and is very affectionate. Basically anytime I have taken her out of the crate she jumps up to try and snuggle(we are working on curbing the jumping up part). She is very comfortable being carried and held and will be a wonderful addition to one lucky family!
