Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please go to our website for all specific information about this dog.  Our info doesn't transfer over to the adoption sites.  Fiona came from a shelter to us half bald.  She appeared to have lived her life infested with fleas and fed a poor diet.  With a grain free, chicken free diet and keeping flea medication on her, all of her fur has come back in nicely.   She's come out of her shell now that she's feeling healthy and is a sweet, delightful little girl.  She even plays with some other dogs now, just not the rambunctious, in her face personalities.  She is reserved when meeting new people though so someone just needs to give her a chance to acclimate to them and you'll have a wonderful companion.  We have discovered that she doesn't like men.  She's very fearful of them and it's not the reaction of a dog not handled much or at all by men in the past but rather that she's been mistreated by a man.   She's got the look of a chi x pom cross but may be just a mix with one or the other.  Who can keep her healthy and give her a loved rest of her life? Prior to adoption, our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and parasite treated/prevented.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 21, 2025, 12:45 pm

Story
Meet Ivy! Ivy is a spunky, 8-pound, smooth coat Chihuahua that loves to play, but also loves to sleep next to you for a nice long nap after a play sessions (humans, dogs, toys) or a nice bully stick chew stint. She sleeps in her crate and can be alone while you run an errand or at night.  She is extremely easy to train and loves food whether it is her kibble (wet or dry) or treats/cookies.  She is easily trained and goes outside to potty. She is currently living with 7 foster (dog) siblings.  Her favorite activities are hanging out next to you on the couch or in bed, chewing a bone, and going for a walk.  She can be a bit intimidated by bicycles that appear with no warning and isn’t sure strollers and scooters should be legal, but she recovers immediately and is ready to continue on with her excursion. She would love another dog to play with in her new home. She plays consistently with a fellow 8 pound sibling, but engages the larger 15-18 pound siblings too.  She isn’t a Chihuahua that is scared of everything in the world!  She never met a treat she wouldn’t take from complete strangers.   Respectful dog savvy children that are a bit older would be best since she is very small.  She can dart quickly out from under feet when they unexpectedly come too close.    If you are looking for a companion to add to your world for the next 15 years, Ivy would make a perfect addition!  Please complete an application if you would like to know more information regarding Ivy. Ivy is vaccinated, chipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $395. We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
Jackie is a sweet, blanket-loving girl who’s looking for a peaceful home where she can be the one and only dog. She has a soft spot for chewies, loves being wrapped up in blankets (with her nose peeking out!), and does the cutest big stretches on her way to the water bowl. Jackie’s foster family has been working on her lead training, and she’s making great strides – she’s already learned her name and will sit patiently at mealtimes!Jackie is very house-trained, only needing a few daily walks and always taking care of business outside. She’s a quiet, mellow girl who doesn’t fuss over people or toys, making her an easygoing companion. Treats are fine, but she’s an independent spirit who won’t be won over too easily! If you’re looking for a calm, low-maintenance friend who just wants to cozy up and relax by your side, Jackie could be the perfect match. Come meet her and see if this blanket-loving beauty is the one for you!Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. Story
Meet Bella! Oh Bella, we adore her. She clearly wants to love and be loved but is having a hard time trusting new people. She did not come from a great home and clearly was not treated well. She is in our foster care now and is thriving but it has taken some time to win her over. Bella is just a little 2 year old chihuahua, barely 7 lbs, who is a bit afraid of the world. Once she trusts you, she is loving, affectionate, loves to be cuddled and loves to sleep with you. You'll need to work a bit to earn this affection though - she does not give it freely. Bella will do great with someone who can go slowly with her and who understands that Bella needs reassurance that she is safe.  Bella gets along with other dogs but will also be just fine being an only dog. No kids for Bella at this time - they move a little too fast for her liking.  Bella is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Her adoption fee is $250 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
