Story
Meet Sandy, a delightful 4-year-old chihuahua mix who’s ready to fill your life with warmth and joy! Weighing in at just 12 pounds, this little sweetheart has faced some challenges, but her spirit shines brighter than ever. Sandy once had a wonderful home filled with love, and although her journey has been a bit bumpy since then, she’s now found her happy place in a cozy foster home. Sandy has a heart full of love and just wants to be close to her people. She adores going for walks and feels the wind in her fur during car rides. Playtime is her favorite—whether it’s fetching with her human pals or having fun with her doggy friends. A little caution is needed, though; if startled, she might get a tad nippy, so she’d prefer a home without cats and kids under 12. This precious girl is also quite protective of her loved ones, taking her role as a little guard dog seriously. While she may greet new faces with a bit of sass, a gentle introduction along with some tasty treats will help her warm up. Like many small pups, she’s a bit nervous during thunder or fireworks, but a tiny dose of trazodone will help her feel safe and sound. Sandy is quite the explorer! She’s clever and curious, so a securely fenced yard is essential for her adventurous spirit. And get ready for some giggles—watching her zoom around with her foster siblings will surely bring a smile to your face! With her food-driven motivation, Sandy quickly mastered the dog door in just 30 seconds, showing how eager she is to embrace her new environment. At the end of the day, all Sandy truly wants is a forever home filled with love—a family of her own where she can give and receive affection. With her sweet nature and loving heart, Sandy is ready to be your perfect companion, bringing joy and snuggles to your life. Will you be the special family she’s been waiting for? Sandy has been spayed, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Sandy, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org). For more information, call/text Cathy at 801-598-0771 or email cv-sandy@hotmail.com.

Story
This little lady is Edith. Edith is a 10-ish Chihuahua, but don't let the age fool you. She is full of spunk and attitude. She weighs roughly 7 lbs., but she doesn't realize how little she is. Edith is not afraid of anything or anyone. She will tell you exactly how she feels or what she wants (she is very vocal). Edith will be the first to greet you and insist you pick her up and give her loves. She is such a cuddle bug. If you are winding down for the day, she will crawl into your arms and gaze into your eyes, letting you know she's happy and comfortable. When it's time for bed, Edith will climb under the covers and won't move until it's time to wake up. Edith loves walks, loves her toys and treats. Edith did have a dental and had several teeth extracted, so soft food is best for her. She has a heart murmur and needs to take a pill every day and needs to be on a special cardiac food. The good news is you do not have to hide her heart medicine in cheese or a pill pocket because she thinks you are giving her a treat and will take it right from your hand. Edith is getting the hang of potty training and she is potty pad trained as well. She really needs a home with bigger dogs or a home without other pets. She hasn’t been cat tested, but she is little jealous of smaller dogs and tries to put them in their place. Edith would be a great companion for a single person or couple who works from home or is retired. You couldn’t possibly ask for a more loyal and affectionate little buddy. Edith has been spayed, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. Chanel is as iconic as her name. Not everyone is ready for this classy lady but, if you're looking for a loyal companion, or a timeless adornment for your lap Chanel might be the one. The ideal family for Chanel is one who won't leave her home stashed away. She would much prefer to be on your arm (like every fashionable accessory should be). She does well with other dogs and was said to have done well with cats in her previous home. In her foster home inside accidents are rare as long as the humans are mindful of the schedule. She loves all the human food and can not be bothered with measly pebbles when sandwich meat is available instead. Like any good chihuahua Chanel will show teeth and growl if she's not happy with a situation. This especially happens when she's startled from her right side where he eye has limited sight. Follow her lead, believe her when she gives notice and she'll be yours forever. Her favorite place to sleep is as close to your face as possible when she knows you're her safe place. If you think you're mindful and demure enough for this classy lady contact HSU to set up a meet & greet appointment & her foster family will happily show you all her unique one of a kind priceless traits!

Story
This little gal is Mama Mia; a timid, cuddly, and sweet soul. Mama Mia is a 3-year-old, 12 lb. chihuahua. She came to CAWS in February and gave birth to 4 healthy babies. After being a great mom, all of her puppies have been adopted and now it's her turn! Mia gets along fine with most other dogs, but she's not really interested in playing with other pups. She's more interested in being with her person. Mia loves nothing more than cuddling up under warm blankets. We don't know much about her backstory, but even after 6 months in foster care, she is still quite shy and still working on building her confidence. She will need a patient and gentle adoptor to help her feel safe and comfortable. Mia relies on her bark to defend herself from new things and new situations. Big and fast movements terrify her too, so small children are not a good fit for her forever home. Despite her initial timid demeanor, once she trusts you, she'll be yours forever. Mia's loving personality and gentle spirit will make her a wonderful addition to a mature household. She is crate trained and mostly house trained. With a little patience and a lot of love, Mia will be the best friend you've ever had!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Licorice is an adorable chihuahua mix, and is ready to find her forever home! She is around 5 years old and weighs about 10 lbs. She is house and crate trained, and gets along with dogs and cats. She has spent time with some older children and done great, but hasn't been around children under 7 years old. Licorice loves people, and her favorite thing to do is snuggle up on the couch with her person. She also loves to cuddle at night, and wants to sleep under the covers next to you. When she is excited she has full body wiggles, and she will grunt when she wants attention. Licorice has typical little-dog behaviors and likes to protect her things from other dogs, but is happy to share with people, and can be bossy and thinks she can order the larger dogs around in her foster home. This little spry pup has mild luxating patellas in her two back knees that may require further vet care or support as she ages, however this is not something that currently slows her down. This little lady is absolutely adorable, and she is an amazing companion that has a lot of love to give. Licorice is fixed, vaccinated and microchipped. Her adoption fee is just $200. To be considered, please apply online at caws.org. Thanks!
