Story
Meet Ranger – Your Fun and Devoted Little Buddy! Ranger is an affectionate and sweet Chihuahua mix with a unique cattle dog-like coat and a loyal soul. He may be a little shy at first, but once he trusts you, he’ll form a deep bond and be your most loyal companion. Ranger is a silly little guy, full of personality and fun. He loves seeking comfort from his person and won’t hesitate to jump into your arms for hugs. He will also follow you everywhere you go, enjoying life in your shadow. Ranger loves other dogs and would really thrive in a home with another playful dog, or at least with regular doggy playdates. While he hasn't lived with cats in our care, he did pass his cat test with ease. We think he could do well in a home with cats. He has also met a human baby and did well, so he might do well in a home with kids, but more testing is needed to be sure. He’d be a great match for a singleton or active older adult looking for a devoted furry friend. Due to his tendency to howl at times, we think an apartment/condo is probably out of the picture. Ranger is great on leash and loves to go for walks, and he's also a pro riding in the car. Most of all, he’s happiest when he’s by your side, ready to be your cuddle buddy. If you’re looking for a loving, gentle pup to share your days with, Ranger is ready to be yours! Email leah.smith@threelittlepittiesrescue.org We facilitate adoptions across the US through our own internal transport to ensure the quality of care. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA  or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $1,000 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectable, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission! Story
Meet Popcorn Shy sweetheart with a heart of goldPopcorn is a small, low-energy pup who’s come a long way from a rough start in life. At just 10 pounds, this 5-year-old Chihuahua is the perfect size for cozy cuddles—and cuddle he will! Rescued from an abusive situation, Popcorn has spent the past year learning to feel safe and loved, and he’s blossomed into a deeply affectionate and loyal companion.Once Popcorn decides you’re his person, he’s all in—snuggled up beside you on the couch, keeping you company while you work, or happily trotting after you during play. He’s crate trained, house trained, and perfectly content free-roaming while you’re out during the day. He stays calm when left alone and doesn’t have any separation anxiety.Popcorn currently lives with several other dogs and does well with them, though he prefers slow introductions and a bit of space at first. He also loves cats—he’d happily be best friends with a feline buddy. He’s not a high-energy pup: a short walk and a little playtime are plenty for him. He doesn’t chew or dig, only barks when someone passes by the window, and walks nicely on leash. He’s polite and easygoing with guests once he’s had a chance to warm up.Because of his rough beginnings, Popcorn was very sensitive to fast movements and unfamiliar handling when first rescued, and he did react fearfully in those early days. With gentle care, consistency, and trust-building, he hasn’t shown any concerning behaviors in over a year. He just needs a little patience to feel secure.Popcorn would do best in a quieter home with adults or older kids who understand how to give a shy dog the space and kindness he needs to open up. He doesn’t need a yard and is perfectly happy in an apartment. His favorite thing? Being close to you. If you let him, he’ll happily nap on your head just to be near. If you’re looking for a loyal little buddy who will reward your patience with deep, unconditional love, Popcorn just might be your perfect match.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
This little bit of magic is Pio Pio! He is all lap-dog love, with a side of calm friendly confidence, and a set of expressive ears that are as entertaining as watching tv. The best part of his lap-dog nature is that although he loves sitting in your lap, he doesn’t need that, he is content either way, taking only moments before he is off to go explore, say hi to your guests, or find a new spot to continue his nap. Watch his Get-to-know-Pio video and see his peaceful cuteness in action! If you are a lap-dog lover and on the look for you perfect one, there isn’t much that would keep you from considering this guy. He is peacefully present, the bestie that listens but doesn’t judge, and ready to be your favorite part of the day. This little gentleman is itty-bitty, weighing a whole 10 lbs,, is estimated to be about 7 years old, and is likely a chihuahua/terrier mix. Of course in rescue we cannot guarantee age or breed but we do guarantee he comes ready to love! The day I spent with him happened to be when our staff meeting was in our office and he got to tag along. I loved how he immediately understood me when I told him come on, he walked right by my side down the hall into a room full of people he had never met. He was a quick hit and was friendly and confident, meeting everyone and working the room for the pets, finally settling in on someones lap to snooze through the meeting. I don’t want to put words in his mouth but I am pretty sure he would LOVE to be someones one-and only. Not because he would adore all the love and affection, but more than anything because its a role that is quiet and guarantees the maximum number of loooong, leisurely naps. He can get along just fine with other dogs but is fully aware of his itty-bitty size when he is in the company of the much bigger dogs. He can handle it but would much rather live in a world where his size is cherished rather than treated with fragility. An ideal home for Pio Pio could look like so many things. Thanks to his size and quiet nature he would be a great candidate for apartment/town home living. During our time together, we never heard his bark despite a slew of sounds from dogs barking, people knocking, and construction occurring in a room with an adjacent wall. When he was introduced to our house cat he was clearly a bit nervous. We find the little dogs have been swatted in the past and know to be cautious. He had no interest in getting to the kitty and was honestly as avoidant as possible.
