Story
Ace is a 13-lb mix breed pup. He probably some chihuahua, maybe a little Boston terrier or pug in there. He has the cutest snoot and will give you a smooch after he gets to know you. He came to POOCH from Marion County Dog Services after being picked up as a stray. He was very shut down in the county shelter but he quickly came out of his shell at the quieter POOCH kennel. He warms up to people quickly. He loves other small dogs and could do well with bigger dogs given a slow introduction. He is building his confidence and sometimes uses his voice when he wants attention when in his separate space or when he sees something strange and new to him in the distance. He is very food motivated and is learning how to check in with his people when he is feeling nervous. Ace seems to be house broken (although we can never say this with 100% certainty in a kennel environment) and it took him 3 weeks to learn he can jump on the couch at POOCH. The youth have taught him to love his harness, sit, go to bed, and are currently working towards comfort in his crate. Ace’s favorite activity is snuggling up next to his human friends. He will take a nap in a fluffy warm bed or entertain himself with a small soft stuffy. Ace has really blossomed at POOCH and showed us his sweet personality. Characteristics: Loves other dogs his size. Could do well with larger dogs with slow introductions Friendly but shy at first Learning about the big world and working on his confidence Great on leash Enjoys relaxing in laps and will playing with soft toys Not a fan of stainless steel bowls, does better with plastic or less shiny bowls THINGS TO BE AWARE OF Can be a little shy at first Can be reactive with unknown things on leash. Easy to redirect and to reassure. If you are interested in Ace Domino, go here to learn more and put in an application. https://www.pooch.org/acedomino

MEET JERSEY! Jersey is a beautiful 6-year-old black Chihuahua mix in need of a forever home! She was rescued form a California shelter, and is a wonderful medium size at 16 lbs. Story
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM SIMBA! I'm a young Chihuahua-Terrier mix -- about a year old or a little younger -- who is ready for a new home! I weigh only 5 pounds! My rescuers intercepted me at an animal shelter, when I was being dumped by my previous owners for no good reason. I'm a sweetheart of a boy - I get along well with other dogs, and I love people. I'm vocal when I get excited, but I'm also quiet, and I do well in a crate. I would love a home for the holidays, where I can spend time with my new person or people. What a great gift that would be! Please email for an application.

Story
Gobi is a darling and gregarious little puppy that is so hoping to find his forever home! Gobi will be 8 weeks old and can go home with adopters on January 9th. He can be visited in his foster home now. - Born 11/14/24 and weighs 5 pounds at 5 weeks old. It's hard to predict Gobi's full grown size but we think he will be between 30-40 pounds. - Mom dog is 16 pounds and looks like a leggy Chihuahua mix. She is super sweet and loves people! You can meet mom dog if you meet Gobi. We do not know what breed dad dog was but think he may have been a larger dog than mom dog. - Getting excellent socialization, exposure to different surfaces, sights, sounds, items and regularly handled and cuddled in foster. - Fostered with other small breed dogs so puppies will have socialization at an early age with other nice dogs aside from mom dog. We seek adopters for our puppies that value training and gentle socialization early on while puppies are young. Puppies are a huge commitment similar to bringing home a human baby and we are looking for kind, patient adopters eager to raise a well socialized dog. Adoption fee includes neuter surgery between 6-12 months of age at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Milwaukie or SW Portland, two rounds of Distemper/Parvovirus vaccines, multiple rounds of dewormer, microchip, and a wellness exam at one of our four partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Tualatin or Portland. $450 adoption fee Fostered in Vancouver, Washington APPLY TO ADOPT GOBI ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG

Story
Alice is a peppy little momma dog who was abandoned by her owners in California when they moved away. Neighbors fed her for a couple of months and then contacted a rescue when they noticed she had become pregnant. We got Alice into foster where she had her puppies and they are all ready to leave her on January 9th. Now it's Alice's turn to find a loving home! - 16 pounds and approximately 2 years old - We took our best guess on breed mix of Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher - Active, playful, happy, entertaining girl - Really loves people and to cuddle - Shares a home with 5 other small breed dogs whom she has generally been good with. Her having puppies, she has shown some protective behavior towards the other dogs. This may improve once she's no longer with her puppies. She could do great as an only dog also! - Doing good with her potty habits so far - Playful and is so funny to watch pounce on her stuffed animal toys and have a blast Alice is fully vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested negative, dewormed and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her spay surgery is scheduled for January 28th at our partner veterinary clinic in Milwaukie, Oregon. She can go home with a new family on January 9th on a spay contract. Her adoption fee includes her spay surgery. It also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Portland or Tualatin. $350 adoption fee Fostered in Vancouver, Washington APPLY TO ADOPT ALICE ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG
