Story
Ginger is apx 8-10 years young , 10 pounds, and does not act like a senior dog. She does love her cuddles, blankets and nap time, but she has a lot of life in her and is full of love and curiosity. She loves being outside and following the humans around while they do their daily chores. Great with all animals and people and well mannered gentle children. Ginger is a cutie pie. She is really well mannered and has a good demeanor. She acclimates quickly to a new routine and new people. Ginger is her original name . Her human papa passed away and Ginger came to us. She is looking for her new family that help her heal and return to a loving family home that adores her . She did have a dental and lost a few teeth but still has plenty of cleaned pearly whites and fresh breath now 🙂 She is still learning leash and harness walking and is a little nervous trying this. She appears to have good potty manners and goes outdoors or on a wee pad Apply www.texaschihuahua.org Please read our Q&A on our we site for basic adoption questions

Story
Currently fostered in Texas Mochi was originally Topaz at the ranch, she was rescued last year but had to be returned to the rescue. She knows the name Mochi now. She was returned because the adopter was having a hard time potty training her, even after hiring a dog trainer, so her future adopter or foster will need to work on that. At the rescue where she has a doggy door , there is no issue with her going potty inside and she also holds it all night and does not potty inside here at the ranch. Mochi apx 6 years young and 9.5 pounds. She is a very loving and affectionate dog. She loves people and children (her adopter had two children) . She is submissive with people and loves all the attention and lap time. She acclimates very quickly and bonds very quickly with humans. She is good with other dogs and cats, she has lots of fur friends and even sleeps with the other dogs at night, she is not aggressive, not food aggressive or anything BUT, she is a bit of a dominant bossy female. She plays with other dogs here and she loves to play and cuddle with them but she is the “mom” and a bit of the fun police at times, typical chiweenie behavior. She also rarely starts a tussle but if another dog growls or tries to be dominant over her, she will stand her ground which sometimes leads to a little girl fight. She walks on leash perfectly. All in all Mochi is a great girl , just a bit of a diva 🙂 and very much holds many traits more so of her dachshund mix . Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Churro (female)is a very pretty girl, 6 years and 9.5 pounds. Churro is a fantastic dogs in many ways but as most dogs she has some quirks. It takes her a few moments to warm up to new people and you have to baby talk her and go a bit slow, but she quickly makes new friends and adores attention once she gets to know. She has gotten much more socialized than she was when she first arrived at the rescue and she is really doing great. After the initial decompression time, Churro walks on leash, has good potty manners, is super loving, cuddly, enjoys being held, loves attention and is an all around wonderful companion. Churro is not a huge fan of change. She needs a patient , loving and steady family. Once she knows you, she walks on a leash and harness you can get her changed in several different outfits. You can kiss her face. You can take her on car rides. She is perfectly fine. It’s just that initial getting to know somebody that she has a hard time with. Once she does bond with her family, she LOVES HARD. But then at times can be possessive about lap time and does not want to share her humans lap with the other dogs in the house. She can be a bit of an alpha female once she settles into her new life. She would be best suited as an only dog or possible a dog with other more submissive male dogs. Although it takes her a moment to warm up to people, she came from a home with kids so I think middle school aged, dog savvy children, should be fine. She is a really good dog in many ways. Very clean, great potty manners, rarely barks, is very affectionate and great in the car, she just takes a moment to get there and then she is all in and a stage 5 clinger 🙂 Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Currently fostered in Texas Perry is approximately 2 to 3 years old and weighs 8.4 pounds . He is a funny little guy. Very silly, a little shy at first but really comes out of his shell quickly a is very playful and prancy. He does little dances and gets so happy to see you. It takes him a couple days to truly be himself, but his personality is so loving and joyful. He is a fantastic little boy who has awesome ears and a beautiful reddish coloring and a little bit of green to his eyes. This little guy has been through a lot, however we know that we can find him a happily ever after home. He is great with well mannered dog savvy children, and all other animals. He is not fantastic at walking around on a leash and gets a little scared, but given a little time, patience, and positive reinforcement he will be a pro at no time , he just needs to gain some confidence. He is not 100% potty trained and will need a belly band in the house until he gets the hang of it, but he is very good at kenneling up at night and keeps his night time area very clean. So he is on his way. He is also very people pleasy and snack motivated so I think training him will be a breeze . Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. Story
Meet Tater Tot At just under a year old and about 11 pounds, Tater Tot is a sweet, unique little guy with so much love to give. With his adorable underbite and soulful eyes, he’s as cute as his name suggests—but it’s his gentle, affectionate nature that truly steals hearts. Tater Tot had a rough start. He was found abandoned in Texas alongside a large group of dogs, but despite everything he’s been through, his loving spirit has never wavered. Since being rescued, he’s done wonderfully with other dogs and has shown just how resilient and kind he is. He can be a little shy at first—especially with men—as he takes in new sights and sounds, but give him a bit of time and patience, and he quickly blossoms into a devoted, snuggly companion who just wants to be close to his people. Tater Tot is well on his way with potty training. He understands that outside is the goal and will also use pee pads when needed—he just needs a consistent routine to help him fully master it. He’s a smart, eager-to-please pup who is already making great progress in foster care. He does have some resource guarding tendencies with food and attention, so he’ll need an adopter who can continue guiding him with structure and positive reinforcement. He’s learning quickly and has already started to play and coexist nicely with other dogs when food isn’t involved. Tater Tot could thrive as an only dog, soaking up all the love, or in a home with other dogs and a committed adopter to help him keep building positive habits. This energetic little guy would do best with an active family who can provide regular exercise, playtime, and either a fenced yard or frequent walks. He’s still working on leash skills but improves every day. Currently in a foster home in Southern Ontario, Tater Tot is heartworm negative and ready to start his next chapter. With a little patience and a lot of love, he’s going to make an incredibly loyal and loving companion. Pre approved adopters please send your hold request to the e-mail address you were given. Story
Tuesday is approximately three years old and weighs 7 pounds. She is a very gentle yet scared little soul. Please read her bio fully. Tuesday came to us from a very bad hoarding situation and was extremely feral when she first came to the rescue. She would not look at us and would put her head in the corner and just shake. The only time she would eat was at night time when nobody was in the room with her. She warmed up every single day and got better and better and started at least going outside and playing with other dogs. One of our amazing fosters took her in and has been working with Tuesday with great success. This is what her foster says : “ Tuesday update: -She jumped on my lap last night and let me pet her, no freezing, shaking or flinching. She barks and runs from Jose(husband), She took about 2 weeks to come around, has excellent eye contact. -Eats well around the other dogs -Plays with Demi and Hazel but does not like rough play and will growl, snap and show her teeth when they get too rough with her, and those two play rough at times. -potty training a work in progress -she needs a safe yard because she is looking for exits, also in the beginning nothing around where she can hide that is not easily accessible. Most importantly, Tuesday is learning that hands don't harm her and are safe, because when we reach out to her she cowers, flinches as if she expects to be hurt.
