Story
All interested people should submit an adoption application as their first step. Hi there! My name is Nelson, and I may be small, but I have a BIG heart—once I get to know you, of course. I like to take my time warming up to new people, but once we’re friends, get ready for some serious cuddle sessions. Snuggling is my favorite hobby, especially if there’s a warm blanket or a cozy fireplace involved. I’m pretty good about my housebreaking, but let’s be real—this freezing New England winter is NOT my thing. I’d much rather be inside, all snuggled up, than outside in the cold (can’t we just agree that snow is unnecessary?). I get along great with other dogs (Im pretty submissive) and love to play—I’m a lover, not a fighter! Food-wise, I can be a little picky, but hey, I have refined tastes. I just discovered toys and LOVE to play with them.  If you’re looking for a tiny, sweet, and snuggly best friend who just wants to be warm and loved, I might be your perfect match. Hit me up, and maybe we can have a cuddle session! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143  All pets adopted from GDHS are spayed or neutered, have vaccinations brought up to date, are on heartworm preventative (dogs), FIV/FELV tested (cats) and microchipped. The Greater Derry Humane Society does not have a physical shelter, and all visits are by appointment only. February 18, 2025, 2:03 pm

Story
Anna is a 9 year old, 10lb adorable Chug (chihuahua/pug mix) who has endured some big human turmoil recently and ended up in a Middle Tennessee shelter. Not much is known of her history, but her underweight condition indicates at least some neglect took place. A really devoted foster mom for critter.Cavalry turquoise noticed her profile in the shelter and realize that being a senior she might not be chosen very easily by the general public.  This young foster woman is making sure that Anna is gaining much needed weight slowly.  She’s starting to put on weight and enjoys her meal times-with the occasional treat of whipped cream. While she is timid at first and a little wary of quick movements, it doesn’t take long for her to warm up and become your best snuggle buddy. Anna has some spunk and can run up stairs as fast as any puppy. She seems to be good with other dogs and initiates playing, though she doesn’t know what to do with toys. She does well on a leash and going outside. She is catching on to potty training (another example of her neglected past) and we are wanting someone who works from home or is retired as she does exhibit some separation anxiety in her first week with us.  She has found the cozy comforts of warm blankets and fluffy pillows and burrows underneath.  Anna has lots of love to give and deserves  a family to spoil her.   Please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comFebruary 18, 2025, 12:12 pm

Story
Poor little Chewy was spotted in the woods and was too scared to come to anyone. We had to set a trap and after 3 days we finally caught him! He was skin and bones but as soon as we got him back to the rescue and out of the crate, sweet as sugar! He's actually a bit of a cling on now, probably afraid someone will dump him again. He's super friendly with strangers and kids which is a wonderful trait for a Chihuahua. We don't think he is full blooded Chihuahua, perhaps mixed with Rat Terrier, just a guess. His pictures aren't the best because it was a freezing cold windy day. Our vet thinks he's about 4 years young. He has some mild tartar on his teeth so we are having his teeth professionally cleaned. He is neutered, vaccinated, heart worm negative, crate trained and microchipped. He will be ready for transport on February 21st. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE: $700

Story
If you're looking for a special lap dog in your life that really needs you, please consider adopting our precious nine month,12 pound, Chiweenie named Bella. This darling little Elf of a dog is certain to bring the greatest joy and love to someone's life. She is well trained already at such a young age and has not really been in a good safe home for very long. This little girl has a slight back hip problem that we are advised to not have her in a house with a lot of steps.  She can go up but not back down very easily. we can discuss in depth and it has been checked out.  Bella is housebroken and crate trained and has a wonderful way of fitting in to a household that has other small diva dogs living there.   She enjoys being in the backyard fetching a ball and bringing it back to you and playing a little bit of tug of war and getting stronger at that everyday. When she has exhausted herself with play, she is ready to snuggle right up next to you or climb in your lap and take a well earned nap. She is full of love and joy, sweet smiles and an infectious zest for life.  There is no way to be sad or depressed. When this sweet little Bella is around she will lift your saddest day and make it a brighter one.  If you are interested in knowing more about this special girl and the gift she has ready to give to a family or an individual, please write to us via email at Critter Cavalry Rescue:  ccrtennessee@gmail.com.   please let us know where you live. You see Bella is being fostered in Tennessee where we adopt locally, and also transport to the northeastern states. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 9, 2025, 2:09 pm

Story
Hello, I'm Sunshine Baby. I'm young, yet wise beyond my years. My heart is full of love and I'm known for my gentle, mellow nature. I'm quite the smarty pants too, quick to learn new tricks and commands. My favorite times are when I'm playing with my human friends here. I love their laughter and the way they hug me. But I know I'm ready for a home of my own. Imagine us on a sunny afternoon, playing fetch in the park or cuddling on the couch. I promise to fill your life with warmth and joy, just like a ray of sunshine. Adopt me, let's make beautiful memories together.
