Story
*SPECIAL NEEDS - MENTALLY CHALLENGED- secure fenced yard - companion dog required* Meet Money Penny!   She's 8 yrs old, 14 lbs, Chihuahua Mix. Penny is a Special Needs Dog due to genetics. She was brought into rescue with 3 other dogs we believe were siblings.  She's fine physically . Her biggest issue is her fear, slow comprehension and super sensitive t o noises and she'll run to safe zone.   She eats well, and she will take food & treats from your fingers. She does hang sometimes with the other dogs as seen in the photos. So having another dog in home is a must for her to understand how to be a dog. She can not be handle but she will sit in the room on a dog bed or next to you on a couch if other dogs are around. She is not a lap dog. Because she is frightened quickly, she has not been taken outside because not sure how noises outside and the wide-open space would affect her and whether she will be controllable. Foster home is still working on that. She is 95% potty pad trained. Sometimes when she hears a noise and runs, she may potty just because of running. But 95% of the time she used potty pads. PENNY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO WOULD JUST LET HER LIVE QUIETLY AND LEARN TO BE PART OF THE FAMILY. If you think you would like to make Penny part of your family, please fill out an Adoption Application and someone will call and talk to you about her personality.  She is a very sweet dog but not sure if she will ever adjust to loud noises. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Money’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Meet Wendell! Wendell is 2 years old, 14 lbs, and a real heart-melter! This little guy is some kind of chihuahua mix with beautiful reddish spots. He is a little nervous when meeting new people and but once he's gotten acquainted with you, he'll be snuggled up in no time! He loves to play with stuffies and squeaky toys, chase squirrels in the yard, and go on walks.  Wendell came to the pound with his sister and when his owner was identified, the owner took his sister home, but left Wendell behind. He stayed in the pound for two months, stuck in a wire cage almost 24/7. That was very difficult for Wendell because he loves people and cuddling so much. Fortunately, Needy Paws was able to tag him and he is now in a foster home, enjoying plenty of love. Because Wendell was stuck in a cage for so long, he gets very stressed when he has to be kenneled. The ideal home for him would not require him to stay in a kennel for a large portion of the day. He would be a great fit for someone who works from home or an active retiree.   Wendell is mostly potty trained if taken out on a regular schedule. Even though he is a small dog, he would benefit from a home that would work with him on his doggie manners. For example, sometimes he will lightly "nibble" your hands when you are petting him, so the ideal home would continue reinforcing the lesson that when he nibbles, the petting stops.   He would enjoy another small dog in his adoptive home, he loves playing with the other small dogs in his foster home. He seems to be somewhat nervous around larger dogs.  He would also be fine with older kids as long as they are gentle with him. Wendell is currently in a foster home with cats and does well with them.  He barked at them when he first met them but after a few days he seems to be adjusting to them. Wendell does not require a fenced yard if his adopter is able to take him on regular walks. If his adopter does have a fence, it needs to be very secure so that he cannot squeeze under it -- he has been known to squeeze under fences in pursuit of squirrels!   Small dogs can live well into their teens, so please keep that in mind when planning for a future with Wendell. If Wendell sounds like your new best friend, apply to meet him today! WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Milton - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! Hey all you fabulous folks out there, I'm here in search of a home, a family...one I can say is ALL mine!! Since you're reading this, I'm hoping it could be with YOU!! I am around 8 years old and came from a hoarding situation (100 dogs all in a small house) with some other pups where our living situation wasn't very good. I am so appreciative of all the little things that most dogs take for granted. A kind word, a gentle pet, a soft bed, some tasty treats!! I am so very loving, coming for some pets every chance I get and my favorites are ear scratches and belly rubs. I would probably do best in a quieter home where my person(s) work from home or are retired.! I do great with people once I get to know them but would probably do best in a home with just older kiddos. I do wonderfully with the other dogs in my foster home from big to smaller and also the resident kitty. I am crate trained but will need some continued work on housetraining. My chill easy going personality will make a great companion pup for your family. I'd even be great for a first time pet parent!! I get so excited to see you when you get home even if it was just to get the mail!! I don't really play too much with toys but I do love snuggling on a soft blanket! I will also be your lil shadow, following wherever you go...that lil heartbeat at your feet! If you would like a BFF to help you with your errand runs, a constant in your life to share in your joys and sorrows...oh my, I AM your boy!!!! I come in at about 15lbs of pure love ready to unleash it ALL on you. If you think we could be a perfect match please stop scrolling and fill out my adoption application. You can find it at haydudeequine.org
