** ADOPTER HAVING DOG SOCIALIZATION SKITTISH EXPERIENCE & PATIENCE IS PREFERRED** ** JANICE REQUIRES ANOTHER DOG IN THE HOME & FENCED YARD FOR SAFETY** QUIETER HOME & NO KIDS TO KEEP JANICE FROM DOOR DARTING ** Meet our Sweet Janice Joplin! She's a 2 yr old, 14 lb, Terrier Mix. Janice was rescued on Jan 15 from a Hoarder/Breeder situation, with very little socialization and she's been with fosters since being rescued in January, learning how to be a dog using other dogs as mentors for her. She REQUIRES another companion dog in the family and would LOVE for that dog to be a player!! She LOVES to play and run with other dogs! When she sees other dogs thru the fence, she barks a lot due to excitement! She also barks a lot when you return home and the excitement she shows to be happy to see you! She does not like you to touch or pet her yet and it will be her learning skill as she becomes part of your family. She's close to that stage but still does not understand human touch. When you're in the room, she'll lay across from you in a dog bed on the sofa watching you and the other dogs. She seems to REALLY want to be normal but is still afraid when you reach down to touch her. She's housebroken but occasionally, she will pee on a potty pad late in the night. Not sure if that's because she didn't take time to go before bed. It's random. She will not walk on leash and growls when you touch her or pick her up. She never bites, but just growls to let you know she's afraid. Once you catch her, foster parents were able to put her in bathtub and give her a bath and dry her off. Gives you a better chance for her to sit in your lap. She is afraid of it but the more "lap time" she gets, the more she will adapt. We think that if she found the perfect family who understand semi-feral dogs like her and will accommodate her needs and show her love forever, she may grow with you and let you pet her eventually. These types of dogs seem to try really hard to be like the other dogs. If you are interested, complete the Adoption Application on our website at www.NeedyPaws.org and we will contact you. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Mouse is my handle, and I love my name! Now, my foster mom calls me Mouse turd sometimes....but she doesn't really mean it! She loves me, even when I act like a turd 😀 I am only about 4# right now and was found only about 1#! Just a teeny boy with a cute mug and plenty of swagger.... I am such a good boy, I love my doggy friends and keep them busy playing. But don't get me wrong, I sleep plenty! And I eat plenty and repeat..... I am likely going to be a medium sized dog full grown. Maybe 20-25#?? I came from a place where my mother was not spayed, so she was pregnant all the time :( However, the day I was saved, my mama was spayed!!! So, no more "accidental " litters, just a quiet life for my mama. I am almost ready for my forever family!! I will wait for you to find me, so hurry up!!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)
