Story
Hi! I’m Joey and I’m a fabulous 13 year old senior gentleman. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m a very handsome red long-haired Chihuahua weighing just 10 lbs. I’m looking for my perfect family who will love me and provide me with a nice, quiet home in my golden years. I’m pretty happy with the simple things in life such as cuddling with my people, meal times and naps. I mean what else does one really need? If you’d like to run errands, I’m your man. I love to ride in the car and am the best little passenger you could ever have. Sometimes, though, I can get a little cranky when it comes to sharing my people with the other doggies. I would do well in a home where I’m the only dog, so the competition for mom or dad’s love won’t exist. Ideally, I would be pampered with attention in my golden years and not be subjected to youngsters, as that wouldn’t be so great for me or them. I would really love it if my new mom or dad would be at home with me more often than not, so I would not have to spend my days being left alone and crated. However, I don’t mind being crated for a couple of hours while my family runs errands. I know it might be asking a lot, but I do love sleeping in bed with foster mom at night and have become kinda spoiled, so a home that would continue to spoil me in that way would make me so happy. I’m working on potty training … let’s say I’m a work in progress. As I came from a puppy mill situation, I was not taught this skill as a young puppy, but I’m working on it now. I do have one small issue with my eyes called chronic dry eye which requires daily medication for the rest of my life. I am really very good about taking my medication for this so it is not a big deal. I am a lovable and sweet little man and would make a wonderful companion. I’m up to date on all my shots, am heartworm negative, on heartworm and flea preventative, neutered, microchipped, and de-wormed. Joey’s adoption fee is $250. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. If you’re interested in having Joey as a part of your family, please fill out an application on AAP’s website.

Story
Meet Rowan, a nine year old super sweet Chihuahua boy. Rowan is a happy little guy( 5 pounds) who enjoys the simple thing in life like sitting on a his person’s lap, chewing on Nyla bones, taking a car ride, going for walks and sleeping in a soft dog bed. Rowan is a fan of all people. He will approach you to indicate he would love some lap time and some pets. When he has his fill, he will go take a nice nap in his dog bed. He really is a chill little guy. Rowan would be happy to share his home with other dogs but he also would be fine as a solo kid. We think Rowan would be a great addition to a variety of homes, but his potential adopters need to be aware that Rowan is a special needs pup. He is diabetic and will need daily shots. While this may sound difficult to manage, it really is easy peasy. Rowan has no problem standing still for this. He is very cooperative and really handles it like a champ. We would love Rowan to find his fur-ever home with a family that will love him for the absolutely fabulous little guy he is. Rowan is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, heart worm negative and on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, had a dental, and microchipped. Rowan’s adoption fee is $250.00. Story
Meet Todd! Todd is a 1 year chihuahua/terrier mix, weighs 10 lbs. and is the sweetest, most loving, little guy. He would do well in a home with at least one other active and small dog ( 20 pounds or less), younger people (no toddlers or babies) and big people. He has a good amount of energy and likes to play outside, therefore a fenced in yard is a requirement for Todd. He is also learning to walk on a leash and would enjoy a daily walk to do his business. He sleeps in a large crate at night, but loves to be out and about during the day. He loves, loves, loves to sit in your lap and give kisses. He likes to vocalize his enthusiasm, and probably wouldn’t be the best candidate for apartment living. He has completed his checkup with the vet, and is ready to find his new family. He does have crystals in his urine, which are being monitored, and needs to have prescription food. Todd is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He’s also microchipped and dewormed. Todd’s adoption fee is $350. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. If you're looking for a very sweet and lovable little fella to join your family, please fill out an application on AAP’s website.

Story
Hi, I’m Tango! I’m an 8 year old Terrier mix, weigh 12 lbs, and am a quiet little guy. My owner passed away, so I’m just staying to myself, trying to make sense of everything. I crave attention and love, and really like it when my foster mom sits and talks to me and loves on me. I sleep in a large crate at night, with lots of blankets and stuffed animals. I snuggle in and sleep quietly through the night. I’m enjoying chewing on bully sticks and other chewies, and playing with toys that make noise or have squeakers in them. I do like to go outside, and foster mom says that I’m a “work in progress” with my potty training. I get along well with other dogs (small dogs 20 lbs. or less), and would do well in a home with or without doggies. I do tend to vocalize quite loudly when playing, and might not do well in an apartment setting. I would do well in a home with kids and grownups, but I’m not much of a player. I would enjoy walks, and as long as I’m walked frequently and monitored on a leash, I do not require a fence. Since my owner passed away, I need someone who is going to re-teach me some of the rules about going potty, learning to snuggle with the family, you know…all that stuff. Tango is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He’s had a dental, is microchipped and dewormed. Tango’s adoption fee is $300. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
I have the weirdest name. What is that? "Grandpa Lucky. Sounds like I had a lot of luck in my short life, but I am not quite sure of all that. I just look like a Grandpa because I have lived outside most of the time and it is hard on a fella. I am only about 8 or 9 years old according to the vet I have seen, and am in pretty decent health although a little on the chubby side. First off, I was fished out of a river and taken to the city dog pound. I can't tell you how I got into the river, but foster mom suspects I had a little help with that. Well, it was lucky that I got fished out, but then I went to the city pound where I had 3 days before my time was up...literally. But then I got lucky again because foster mom saw me and just had to have me to foster so I got a ticket out of there. I was a pretty skinny dude when she got me, and it wasn't too long before she discovered that I love to eat. Foster mom also has an 18 year old chihuahua, and sometimes I use her potty pad to potty but I love to go outside too! But with the new floors in the house, she makes be wear a belly band when I am in the living room! How embarrassing. Foster Mom noticed that I was having a little trouble walking on my back legs and that wasn't so good so when we got me checked out, it turns out that I have a little compression of my T4 to T6 vertebrae, whatever that is. Not good. But the vet lady said that nothing needed to be done for that so that was lucky. So, when I get a little tired, I hop like a bunny and the other times when I feel good, I walk like a regular dog. I had some tests done on my blood and I had worms living in my heart of all places. I am told that is not good. But it is lucky for me that foster mommy gave me the medicines to kill those little varmints over time and not all at once. She said it is easier on me if we do it this way. Plus, it is lucky that I got the medicine in a little bit of tasty food that I love. Did I tell you I like to eat? About that, foster mommy tells me I can't gain too much weight, or it will be too hard on my joints and back and that won't be good. Aren't I lucky to have her to take care of me? The one complaint I have with foster mommy is that she doesn't have enough time to let me sleep in her lap during the day. I would like to have a lap in my new forever home and someone who will love me as much as foster mommy does. The heartworms are all dead and gone, and I am done with all the treatments now. So I am free to travel anywhere I want to. Besides having a lap to sleep in during the day, I want to sleep in the bed with you at night. I can't jump off the bed though but being with you all the time is what I want. Then I would really feel lucky! $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State adoption fee with $50 temporary fuel surcharge.
