Story
Check out our little gremlin Dory! This sweet girl came in with another kiddo from another location. She is an older girl, we are thinking at least 10 years of age. She deserves to be spoiled rotten for the rest of her days! She is a big cuddle bug, she would love to have a home with lots of comfy beds and blankets that she can cuddle up in to nap the day away. Dory is a great girl, lets get her home! Dory is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed. If you are interested in Dory, please submit an adoption application, which can be found on our website: humanesocietyofnwia.com.

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to go to www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org to complete the adoption application*** This sweet little girl is Raya. Raya started life on the Rez. She had a litter of puppies and a run in with a porcupine that left her needing help. Here is what she has to say.... Hi my name is Raya (Ray-uh)! The humans tell me I’m ready to find my furever home! I would love to find a home with a dog friend. I like to rough house and zoom around with toys. I do have a strong prey drive so I can’t live with cats or other small animals. I also love to snuggle the humans and take naps. I get to sleep in bed some nights and I love that but I also sleep in my kennel some nights and don’t mind! I need to find a home that understands dogs with separation anxiety or at least a home willing to learn how to work with that. I would love to have a dog friend that can kennel beside me so I know I can relax. I prefer my plastic kennel over the wire ones. Once I got settled in to my foster home for a few days I relaxed in my kennel and like to chew on my bones when I don’t feel like sleeping. If I could find a home where the humans are around a lot that might also make me more comfortable! If you have a job working from home I won’t complain. I’m kennel trained and house trained, though we were told in a previous home that I did break out of a wire kennel. We were also told that I’d get out of the house and run away. My fosters don’t have trouble with me getting out of the fence or the house but it’s something to know about me. I promise to bring entertainment and love to my furever home. I’m around 3 years old and around 45 lbs so I’m a great size for many people. I have not been kid tested but I can be if my home may have kids! Raya loves deeply and would love to find a home that loves her back just the same. She is guaranteed to add some laughter and love to the right home! Raya is about two and a half and adoption fee is $250.00 She is up to date on vaccinations, spayed and micro-chipped November 4, 2024, 8:52 pm

Story
*** The first step in the adoption process is to complete the adoption application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** Calling chihuahua lovers!  Meet Pedro!  This little man came from a chihuahua hoarding situation along with his foster friend Cat (the Dog).  Pedro is doin his best learning about other people and life with out so much chaos.  He is, in true chihuahua fashion, a bit over zealous when meeting new people.  He wants them to know he is actually 90 pounds of pure muscles instead of about 10.  We got your little guy no worries and thanks for letting us know there is a visitor at the door.  Pedro is pretty calm with the members of the household and gets along fine with the other dogs.  He may even do best with a doggie friend.  He is curious about the foster kitties but that's about it.   His favorite things to do are run around outside in the fenced yard and then snuggle under blankets.  If he gets overstimulated while playing he will nip a little when he's excited so older kids that will understand when to stop a play session would be best. But hey, if you are a lover of the Chihuahua none of this is new to you!   Pedro is approximately 7 years old, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped.  His adoption fee if $250.00November 14, 2024, 5:21 pm

Story
***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at www.emmetcountyanimalshelter.org*** When this little senior lady came to us along with Pedro from a hoarding situation we were told her name Cat.  That's pretty cute and we call her Cat the dog. She is looking for a human companion. Someone who is home quite a bit and likes to snuggle. As you can see in her photos, Cat is blind.  She is very affectionate and pretty calm overall but she can get spooked by other animals.  She has done well in her foster home and while she seems to have beef with one of the male resident dogs being in her business she is fine with the female resident dog and with her friend Pedro. She likes to bark at cats occasionally but not all the time. Her blindness will need some patience but she learns her space and maps pretty well. At first, she follows behind you, then she will lead when she gets comfortable. She likes men and women. She would love to be a pampered princess. She jumps up on couches and can get on the bed with a doggie step. She is a snuggler at night and prefers under the blankets. She loves stuffies and enjoys a good chew stick but generally Cat is very quiet and gentle. Cat just recently had a dental and she is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200.00 November 14, 2024, 5:21 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tony is a handsome little chihuaua who came to SFCR as a breeder release. Tony is such a funny little guy - he loves toys including nylabones that are as big as he is. He mingles well with the other dogs in his foster home, for the most part. Every once in awhile he gets a little hot and bothered by other male dogs but nothing too serious. Tony is doing very well with going #2 outside but wears a belly band inside because he is still learning not to mark in the house.    ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Physically fenced in yard to keep him safe - no invisible fences. Leash/harness walking is still a work in progress. Small breed resident dog preferred.  Adult home or home with older, respectful children only (12+). Tony has been neutered and had a dental with multiple extractions (including 3 of his canine teeth). He tested negative for heartworm & tick-borne disease, is current on vaccinations & monthly preventatives, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $400 plus tax.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 10:31 am
