CLEO | 7 years old | 10-pounds*Alright, STOP. Collaborate and listen…She cute but she is expensive.Cleo will need prescription food and medication for the remainder of her life. Still interested? Read on!—--Straight from her foster’s mouth to your ears.. erhmm.. eyes.. learn more about Cleo directly from the source! They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend.. And you better have a lot of them. To sell. To pay for her vet care.Haha! Just kidding! *looks around* Kind of..Cleo has a condition called protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) caused by irritable bowel disease. She loses proteins from her bloodstream into her GI tract faster than her body can replenish them and her medical management helps regulate this condition.Cleo’s daily life is unaffected by this and she does your everyday dog things. The only addition is giving her medication (pills) with her morning and evening meals which she takes without problem.Still interested? Then you’re ready to hear our secret..—--Cleo is a GEM. A truly one-of-a-kind companion. So without further ado, here’s what you need to know about Cleo!Extremely smart. Eats her own poop. In a glass-half-full kind of world, you could consider her a self-poop picker-upper. (But really, you are going to have to go out in those subzero temps and pick up her poop before she does.)In all seriousness, she is one of the best potty-trained dogs we have ever had. And she understands cues so quickly. She even knows sit, shake, high five, and can catch her food mid-air!Farts can clear a room. They just get stronger. Rootin’ Tootin’ Cleo should be in the Guinness Book of Records or something.Teeters on being the fun police. Still fun.Cleo coexists with dogs big and small but can sometimes be a playtime hall monitor. That said, if she finds the right dog with the right playstyle, she has a good time playing chase and wrestling!Loves tug o’ war. Hates fetch. If you throw her toy, she’s going to look at you like what are you even doing. On a scale of one to barky, she’s about a five. While Cleo doesn’t bark all day long, she is going to warn you about car doors slamming, people talking, the general goings on of the world. And her bark be loud so shared walls may not be the best fit for her. She stops with some guidance pretty quickly.. usually.. sometimes..Loves food. Hates sharing. Cleo’s favorite times of the day are, hands down, breakfast and dinner. And she’s got that only child syndrome (I can say that, I’m an only child) where everything is hers. Her food. Her toys. Your food. All hers. And she will tell anyone who needs to know.Cleo doesn’t currently live with cats but has in the past and takes it in stride. As long as she’s the center of attention, that’s all she really needs.Supposedly a Chihuahua/Pug mix. Definitely just as needy. Pug parents, am I right? Cleo will climb on your lap, push her way to your hands, and really doesn’t care if she’s stepping on another dog to get to the top. We mean that figuratively. Well.. except for those times when she’s literally walking over a dog to get to you.Likes to give kisses. Licks everything. Literally everything.. the couch, the floor, the carpet, the coffee table, your clothes, and your face.Cleo is great with kids of all ages but it’s probably best that she live in a home with teens or no kids on account of how much she loves food. Because she has PLE, Cleo needs to be on a restricted diet and can’t be catching scraps or snagging food from those little hands. Because she would. She totally would. This girl’s personality is a great balance of play and chill, and she walks so well on a leash.. when it’s actually warm out.. A lap dog through and through, Cleo wants to be snuggled in with you, often under a blanket (Chihuahua parents, you get it). She's content to snooze on the couch or a dog bed when you're gone and she can fit into any social situation.Cleo is one of the best dogs out there and whoever has the privilege of adopting her is going to know love (and toots) beyond measure!—--*Opening Line Credit: Vanilla Ice - “Ice Ice Baby”Cleo came to Pet Haven Rescue with a severe case of PLE. Her levels are back to normal with the help of food and medication management.More on protein-losing enteropathy (PLE): https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/proteinlosing-enteropathy-ple-in-dogs—--If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling: https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. Story
This 2-year-old Chihuahua is super sweet and has a heart full of love! At just 12 pounds, this adorable pup is a quiet companion who thrives on being near her humans, whether she's curled up at your feet or nestled on your lap. She’s a low-maintenance cuddle bug with a bit of playful energy, making her the perfect balance of calm and fun.Boo has adjusted well to her foster home, showing her affectionate and trusting nature. After a few days of higher energy and some nervousness, her loving personality quickly emerged. Fully house-trained, she’s had occasional accidents, likely due to some anxiety, but she does well on a schedule. Boo is crate-trained, settling down within 10 minutes, and she’s quiet and respectful when left alone—though she’d prefer to have her humans around of course. This little lady is great with other animals, showing she's curious and polite during introductions with dogs and cats. She hasn’t been introduced to kids while in our care yet, but her sweet demeanor suggests she’d be friendly and a great family dog. When it comes to playtime, Boo doesn't really know what to do with toys or doggy playmates, but enjoys short walks where she can explore and look for bunnies. Surprisingly strong for her size, she’ll keep you on your toes when she spots something exciting. When she gets a burst of energy at home, she loves zooming around the apartment or hopping between furniture for playtime. Her jumps are quite impressive—during her first week with higher energy, she would easily jump two feet in the air when we came home from work, hopping around like a little kangaroo!Boo’s quirks are sure to make you smile, like her obsession with belly rubs (she’ll stay still for hours if you keep petting her!) and her excited little jumps when she’s happy to see you. She’s eager to please, responding well to training with a little shredded cheese as motivation. Boo would thrive in a loving home where she can be part of the family. If you’re looking for an affectionate, quiet, and endearing companion, Boo is ready to win your heart! If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Story
Meet the lovely Little Miss Eloise! She is a super sweet, active yet also cuddly, social, curious, smart pup who is already demonstrating what a great addition she’ll make to someone’s human and/or furry family. She has been gentle with kids, both big and little, and friendly and playful with dogs her size up to 100+ pounds. Her energy and confidence has grown since she’s come to Minnesota and has a fun yin-yang balance of being super busy and playful, bounding around, and exploring for a few hours and then curling up (preferably next to or on top of a warm body) and falling asleep. She definitely likes having a buddy but will tolerate being alone in her crate for appropriate periods of time. Speaking of house training, she’s almost 100% potty-trained and settles down in her crate when no humans are home with minimal fussing. She’s slept through the night with her foster human but is young and active enough that she’ll still need opportunities every few hours (her max time is 5-6 hours right now) during the day to go outside to do her business and run around and play for a bit inside or out. She’s been enjoying having a variety of toys to toss, chase, chew, and thrash around, and the only thing her puppy teeth have wanted to shred so far is potty pads, so these aren’t in use and she’s been trained to go outside. Walking on the leash has been fairly easy so far, with her gaining confidence and learning it’s okay to leave the person on the other end of the leash’s side to explore the grass from time to time. She’s pretty good at not getting under foot while keeping at least one of her housemates within eyesight or just around the corner, so you’ll often find her nearby when moving around unless she’s zooming around or hanging with another dog. She will also often default to a sitting position when whatever she’s watching or following stops moving and is pretty good at sitting on command. She’s a quick learner, confidently racing down a flight of stairs on her second try, figuring out how to climb up to join the resident dog in the bay window with minimal guidance, curling up in her designated dog bed/spot nearby but out of the way during food preparation or mealtimes without being told, and easily fetching a ball back on the first gentle toss. She’s also fairly quiet, usually choosing to observe or give a warning bark (which is surprisingly “big” for a pup her size) than go crazy, and responds well to praise as well as treats. Eloise is ready to keep moving forward on her journey of becoming the amazing dog she’s already shown herself capable of being. She would do best with a person or family who will continue her training, take her on the occasional adventure, and give her lots of opportunities to socialize with people and pets (she hasn’t met a cat yet but will likely do fine) balanced with time to snuggle. Does that sound like you? Eloise is estimated to be 4.5 months old and 8 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. Story
Meet Scarlet - she is the perfect mix of cuddle bug and little adventurer! She takes her snuggles *seriously*— if it were a job, she'd be employee of the month. Her favorite nap spot? All the way under the covers — making her the best winter companion for those chilly Minnesota nights. Your feet will thank you! Though she’s a little shy at first, it doesn’t take long for this tiny dynamo to warm up and become the life of the party. Once she lets her guard down, she’s full of joy, playful energy, and endearing quirk. Despite her small size, she’s all heart and loves to romp around with her two foster brothers (who are basically giants compared to her!). She adores other dogs, humans of all sizes, and anyone who’s ready to spare a snuggle. Don’t be surprised if she gently climbs right into your lap or curls up next to you. She’s a social butterfly who loves everyone! If you’ve got a camera handy, have it ready to snap some super Insta-worthy moments. She’s spent time around cats and is curious, but always respects their boundaries. She’s also made great strides with potty training, and though she still has a little work to do, she’s mastered the puppy pad game and is making progress every day. Her energy is contagious. She’ll have you laughing, playing, and wanting to be by her side every moment. Her ultimate goal? To be your best friend, and trust us, she’ll do it in style. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly companion who’s ready to light up your life, she’s your girl! Scarlett is estimated to be 6 months old and 16 lbs. Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
I have the weirdest name. What is that? "Grandpa Lucky. Sounds like I had a lot of luck in my short life, but I am not quite sure of all that. I just look like a Grandpa because I have lived outside most of the time and it is hard on a fella. I am only about 8 or 9 years old according to the vet I have seen, and am in pretty decent health although a little on the chubby side. First off, I was fished out of a river and taken to the city dog pound. I can't tell you how I got into the river, but foster mom suspects I had a little help with that. Well, it was lucky that I got fished out, but then I went to the city pound where I had 3 days before my time was up...literally. But then I got lucky again because foster mom saw me and just had to have me to foster so I got a ticket out of there. I was a pretty skinny dude when she got me, and it wasn't too long before she discovered that I love to eat. Foster mom also has an 18 year old chihuahua, and sometimes I use her potty pad to potty but I love to go outside too! But with the new floors in the house, she makes be wear a belly band when I am in the living room! How embarrassing. Foster Mom noticed that I was having a little trouble walking on my back legs and that wasn't so good so when we got me checked out, it turns out that I have a little compression of my T4 to T6 vertebrae, whatever that is. Not good. But the vet lady said that nothing needed to be done for that so that was lucky. So, when I get a little tired, I hop like a bunny and the other times when I feel good, I walk like a regular dog. I had some tests done on my blood and I had worms living in my heart of all places. I am told that is not good. But it is lucky for me that foster mommy gave me the medicines to kill those little varmints over time and not all at once. She said it is easier on me if we do it this way. Plus, it is lucky that I got the medicine in a little bit of tasty food that I love. Did I tell you I like to eat? About that, foster mommy tells me I can't gain too much weight, or it will be too hard on my joints and back and that won't be good. Aren't I lucky to have her to take care of me? The one complaint I have with foster mommy is that she doesn't have enough time to let me sleep in her lap during the day. I would like to have a lap in my new forever home and someone who will love me as much as foster mommy does. The heartworms are all dead and gone, and I am done with all the treatments now. So I am free to travel anywhere I want to. Besides having a lap to sleep in during the day, I want to sleep in the bed with you at night. I can't jump off the bed though but being with you all the time is what I want. Then I would really feel lucky! $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State adoption fee with $50 temporary fuel surcharge.
