Meet Harper. Harper is a special adoption. Harper has been in our rescue for 2.5 years. Why so long? Harper came from a hoarding case years ago and just still hasn't enjoyed people touching her. Is she the happiest dog you will meet? Yes she still loves life, loves other dogs and loves to lounge on the couch. Harper is looking for a home who will accept her and her fear of being touched and be ok with that. She is house broken and will use a potty pad. She really doesn't even need to go outside if you don't want her to. You can't walk her as she doesn't want you to touch her so fenced yard is required. She gets sedation to go to the vet. But she is loved and deserves love. We will waive her adoption fee for adopters willing to give Harper Lee a life. We call him Quint. If you've seen Jaws and are aware of the Quint's fate in the film, you might have some idea what happened to our little boy here. Quint was found in Tijuana Mexico nearly bitten in half. Bitten: We were told it was a dog attack, but it looked a lot like a machete wound. Either way, it was awful. Quint has healed beautifully. Sure, there are scars under his little coat - fairly good ones. But those just tell the story of what Quint has overcome. And overcome he has! Quint is healthy, friendly, clever, active, loving, cuddly and quickly learning all the things he should. He even braves the cold without complaint to do his business! So, if you're looking for a wonderful pal about 10/12 pounds and 2 or 3 years old.... we know him, and you should meet him. Quint is great with dogs his size; big dogs scare him which is understandable. He is a clinger and major lap dog. He loves his people and is very social. He loves racing around the back yard. Meet Buddy, a 11-year-old handsome boy with a heart full of love and spunk. Buddy is the perfect companion for someone who can give him the attention and affection he craves. He loves following you around the house and is happiest when snuggling on your lap or cuddling up with you in bed for a nap. He is potty trained and kennel trained. He goes right into his kennel when you tell him to "go to his room" and sleeps quietly all night long. While Buddy may be a bit of a senior, he's very spritely and full of personality! He's very mobile - does stairs no problem, jumps right up on the couch for snuggles, and tippy taps his way around the house, following you wherever you go. Buddy gets along with great with calmer more submissive dogs around his size. He will be slower to warm up to bigger or more playful dogs. He has also lived with cats and should do ok with slow introductions to dog-savvy cats. Buddy loves kids! Buddy does bark some when he's left in his kennel during the day so a home with shared walls might not be the best for him. Buddy is also wary of certain things, like loud noises, water hoses, and sudden movements, and may bark when nervous, so he'll need a home that is calm and understanding. He's also not fond of water but behaves well during bath time and during nail trims at the groomers. Buddy is smart and knows several commands, including "sit, "stay, "give paw, "go lay down, and "go to your room. He enjoys car rides and short walks, but he tires easily, so his ideal outings are low-key.
