Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Hi I’m Dirk!  I’m a handsome scruffy guy who is looking for a family of my very own.  I came here from a shelter in Arkansas where I found myself when my owner passed away.  I wasn’t there too long before I came to MN where I found myself in a foster home.  It took me a bit to open up to my new foster.  I was sad and confused since I had lost my home and owner.  I was lucky though that I got to come here with my sister, Mateo.  I don’t need to be adopted with her, but if you have room in your heart I’d certainly love to be adopted with her.  When we meet I’m shy with new people and need a bit to warm up.  Once I trust you though then I’m a happy guy who loves neck scratches!  I lean into them and rub against your hand like a cat with the biggest smile while I dance in excitement.  I don’t care much about toys.  I do like to run with my doggie friends outside, but I don’t like when they get to wild.  That’s when I bark at them and tell them they need to chill out.  When I’m not out with my friends I can be found chilling out at my mom’s feet or sitting in her lap getting all the good pets.  I think I’d prefer a home that’s a bit more quiet with no little kids.  I just don’t enjoy being overwhelmed by their antics.  I’d love a fenced yard where I can sit and sunbathe, but if you don’t have one that’s ok too.  I am crate, leash, and potty trained, too (on a schedule at my foster home that is!). I’m not very into food and treats, but maybe my foster mama just hasn’t found the right ones yet.  I should also probably tell you that my back legs are pretty bowlegged.  The nice doctor said I was just born that way and that since they don’t bother me or give me any pain that they are ok.  Mama says I’m perfect and I couldn’t agree more! Grandma, the resident 'pawlice' of the household, loves to growl in her sleep, keeping everyone on high alert. Getting her eye meds administered requires a small army, as it takes two brave souls to wrangle this feisty furbaby because she acts like a wolverine on steroids. When it comes to walking, Grandma's approach can best be described as a stately hobble, as if she's performing a regal procession. Heaven forbid she's ever caught without her fashionable coat - the indignity would be too much to bear! Breakfast in bed is Grandma's favorite meal, and woe to the soul who dares to disturb her slumber. She's a lover of pets and cuddles, but don't be fooled - her mood can turn on a dime, and the growls and snaps come without warning. Grandma's preferred sleeping spot is under your pillow, where she can keep a watchful eye on her domain. Just be sure not to move a muscle, lest you risk squishing the delicate diva. When nature calls, Grandma will deign to be carried outside, but if you miss her subtle 'I gotta go' cues, she'll happily relieve herself right on the floor. I know my name says Twinkle but I’ve been going by Twinks here at my foster home. I’m a 9-year-old Chihuahua with a sweet, gentle heart, and at just 6 pounds, I’m as tiny as I am loving. Let me share a little about myself so you can see why I might be the perfect addition to your family. I’ve been observing all the happenings here at the foster home.  I have to see who is having a good time and how they go about doing it.  I get along with the other dogs here but I’m pretty independent. I would thrive with another dog in my forever home. Another dog will help me learn to trust, give me confidence and help me get on a routine. I do adore pets and cuddles, also note that I can be shy and skittish in new situations. I will need some time to adjust in new places. And a little secret – I am afraid of men! Perhaps you can win me over, but as a senior I am a little set in my ways. My favorite spot is the little couch, where I love to relax and soak up all the attention. When you pet me, I’ll do a cute little happy dance—it’s my way of saying thank you for the love! I also enjoy hanging out with other dogs, even trying to snuggle up with them sometimes, so I’d love a home where I have a furry sibling or two. While I’m not big on toys, I do enjoy treats and will happily try most of what you offer. I’m working on my potty training and do well when taken outside regularly, but I still have the occasional accident indoors, so I’d need a patient family to help me keep improving. I am a barker however, so no shared walls unless you hate your neighbors – hee hee!  I’m a bit of a flight risk because new things can make me nervous, so I’ll need a fenced yard for my safety. I do know some commands like "Come" and "Outside," and I’ll enthusiastically welcome you home every time you walk through the door! Since I’m so tiny, my new family will need to watch me carefully—especially when I’m on the couch getting pets—because I might try to jump off, and I wouldn’t want to hurt myself. I also have a heart murmur, but that doesn’t stop me from spreading love wherever I go. If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly senior companion who will adore you endlessly, I’m your girl! Welcome Bandit to CCPAL Rescue. Bandit is an Apple Head Chihuahua pup. He is about 2 years old. He weighs about 6 pounds. He likes being held and is a little shy. This boy had a very terrible person for his owner. She was a sexual deviant and he and the other dogs in this house were abused by this person. A good Samaritan stepped in and took all the dogs. Bandit was with foster care until she called CCPAL and we took them into the Rescue. He is a little shy and when he is scared, wants to retreat. He has a nice short coat and the loyalty of the Chihuahua breed. He is good with other dogs and despite his past, he is very loving. He and the others in this group really are doing well and are responding to loving and very normal attention at the Rescue. They are fitting in well with routines and the schedules at the Rescue. The dogs will get daily cuddles and assurance that people are nice and most are very normal. Bandit would be great in a quieter home. I would say a retired couple or a single person wanting a rather quiet and low energy companion animal. He will be getting his neuter soon and he has already gotten his toenails clipped and vaccinations. None of these dogs are fully potty trained but we will be working on really good schedules and crate training at the Rescue. He is currently in Texas at the CCPAL Rescue. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. He could be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. . FosterClyde is a dental school drop out with a smile that will melt your heart. He is a super sweet, shy gentleman that will make a very loyal companion! He is quiet and loves his naps with a fuzzy blankie. Clyde mostly keeps to himself and loves a rawhide or bone to chew on and lots of belly rubs and scratchies! I’m an 8-month-old Pomeranian puppy, weighing in at 12 pounds of fluff and personality. Life’s been a little overwhelming for me so far, but I’m making big strides every day—and I’m ready to find my forever family to keep cheering me on! When I first arrived, I was pretty timid and liked to hide in the back of my crate. But now, I’m getting curious and brave, especially during evening couch time when I love to join the doggy pile. I’m still figuring out new things, so I’ll need a fenced yard to help me explore safely until I’m ready to tackle leash training. I’m crate trained and will bark to let you know when I need to go potty, though I’m still working on being fully potty trained. Sometimes I bark at night or when I’m left alone, but a gentle “quiet” helps me settle down. I’ve discovered I love chewing on cow hooves and nylabones, and I’m getting better at accepting treats—yum! I’m also learning to play with toys and just started chasing a ball. I’m funny, animated, and getting more trusting every day. I’ve even started joining in with the other dogs in the house for activities. If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky pup who’s ready to blossom with your love and patience, I’d love to meet you.
