My talents include expert cuddling, burrowing under warm blankets, and making sure every tree on my walks knows  I was there.  Yep, I’m quite the adventurer, always ready for a stroll and a little bit of “p-mail.”   Since moving in with my foster mom, I’ve discovered my voice (thanks to my foster brother’s coaching), but don’t worry—I’m easily convinced to quiet down when asked. I’m working hard on my potty training and do best with a midday walk to keep me on track. Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule. Age: Approximately 4 years old Weight: 22 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Unknown/not tested Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Hi there! I'm Mr. Baker, and before I tell you about myself, I'd like to give you a great big hug. You didn't know dogs could give hugs, did you?! It's a special talent of mine. I like to put my front legs up on your shoulders and rest my head right in your neck. It's one of many ways I show my affection - my humans describe me as snuggly, affectionate, and a bit of a Velcro-dog. I like other dogs, but really, it's all about the snuggles with humans. And walks! Boy, do I love walks. With some reminders, I'm getting pretty good at not pulling on my leash, and I'm friendly and respectful when I run into other dogs or humans on the sidewalk. If you like to run, I would also make a GREAT exercise partner - I'll keep your pace, and I'd be so happy to be by your side! I also love to play with toys in the yard. Chase me! Although, I must admit, I am quite tricksy. Just when you think I'm about to give you the toy back - aha! I am off again. I am also proud to share that I am an excellent listener and am very eager to please and show how smart I am. I know "off" when it's time to get off of the bed or furniture, and I know "leave it" when that ANNOYING neighbor dog keeps barking in the backyard! I trot right back over to my humans. I am also very good at "sit," and I am practicing with "wait." I take treats so gently, you can barely even feel it! There are a few other important things do know about me. First, I can be a little anxious. You can tell when I'm more anxious because my legs get a little wibbly-wobbly. Every so often, I also like to find a rogue napkin that someone's forgotten about (or maybe my mom's student papers she brings home sometimes to grade...) and I like to rip it up into tiny little pieces. I don't chew on anything else or make a mess of things - I just like my little paper shreds. The second important thing is that I take guarding my house VERY seriously...my humans tell me a little too seriously. Together, we are practicing that it is okay when new people come into MY space and that I don't need to bare my teeth, bark, or act big and tough. I have never bitten anybody, but when I am anxious and thinking about protecting my space, I have thought about it. I will need a forever home that can continue to help me with this. I also take a medicine now that helps me with my anxiety - this helps me feel more calm. Once I get used to new people, oh my, do I love belly rubs and give those great hugs and show my affectionate side! Little about me: I came to Minnesota from Texas end of June and so far loving every minute of it! I have 4 foster siblings and a small human who loves to play with me. I enjoy cuddles and sleeping by my humans, especially comfy when I burrow myself under blankets. I’m very good at taking baths. I love to play with my stuffed animals and toys. Bet I’ll make you laugh! I’m shy when I first meet you but warm up pretty quick. I’m crate and potty trained too, bonus! I do like slow introductions to other dogs as I can get nervous but with time I learn to get along. Looking forward to meeting you! Story
Meet this little bundle of joy, Pookie, a sweet Chihuahua mix who's ready to fill your home with snuggles, smiles, and endless love! At just 4 months old and weighing about 6 pounds, he's a playful and friendly pup who adores spending time with people and can’t wait to join your family. While he's already crate-trained and making great strides with his house-training, he may just need a little extra gentle guidance to perfect those skills. But with his loving heart and eagerness to please, he'll be a fast learner! Though he may not be the most photogenic pup, what he lacks in camera skills, he more than makes up for with his golden heart and lovable personality. If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, and playful companion to brighten up your days, this little guy is the one for you! Ready to bring joy, cuddles, and a lifetime of memories to your home—he can't wait to meet his forever family! This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about The Rescue Crew adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our Adoption Process page on our official website.  I'm a sweet, happy, and pretty chill guy that needs a patient person/family to call my own. I can be shy and need the space and time to open up and shine. My ideal home would be a calm environment with a more predictable routine.  A home where someone can stay with me most of the time would make me a happy boy! There are so many great things about me! I love to snuggle, am quiet, will keep you warm in bed at night, and am a good car passenger. Once I start to get comfortable, I give the best little kisses. I am house trained on a schedule. Because I'm unsure of the outdoors, I like someone to be outside with me. I'm crated when left alone and I keep my area clean. I currently live with 3 smaller dogs and 2 cats and do well with them. I don't live with children now, but my foster parents think I'd do ok with older kids. In my foster home, I've seemed interested in stuff toys and am working on being brave enough to play. And once I do get brave, I’ve found I also like to run!  Because of this, I do need a fenced yard.  My foster parents were so excited for me when they saw me chewing on a bone and I really enjoy doing that! If you think that we'd be a match, apply to meet me. I'd love to see if we are perfect for each other! All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.  The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. ##2086009##
