Story
Seven years ago, I adopted Dennis as a puppy from Cape Ann Animal Shelter in Beverly. At that time I was free and able to care for a puppy that I always wanted. Unfortunately, I am now caring for my 85-year-old relative full time. This has become so time-consuming that I feel Dennis deserves better. He was accustomed to long daily walks at least twice a day, playtime and cuddles. I am 84 myself and I’m not able to care for him like that now. It’s my hope that an active family with older children will be interested in adopting Dennis.

Story
Prince is a very sweet boy with some allergies. I've had him about 8 years but recently he's been struggling a bit more. I work out of the house and he's not house trained. He either has to wear a diaper or be crated during the day. This was ok when we had a dog walker but then he attempted to nip her and now they won't come back. He's nervous and sometimes grumpy, like a typical chihuahua. Someone with experience with that breed preferred. No kids please. He's perfect for someone patient, home most of the time, and willing to provide walkies and soft blankets for snuggles. I'm hoping for an "open adoption" where I can get pics and updates periodically. He does have some allergies and does best on a prescription diet and sometimes needs meds to keep him from itching himself to death.

Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Yes, dog-savvy catsGood with kids: NoCrate trained: NoHouse trained: Yes (with pee pads)Sui is a very special little lady with an enormous heart and a wonderful personality!Sui thrives being around other pups (the more the merrier) and gains confidence with people through observing other dogs and their human interactions. She is looking for a loving, calm, and consistent home with a confident, nurturing doggie sibling who can help her feel safe and secure. When she is nervous, she takes comfort by snuggling up to other dogs in the home.It may take Sui some time to trust new people, especially men, but once she warms up, she is a sweet, spunky, lovable pup! She loves to stick with her pack and gets along well with other dogs of all sizes. For a small dog she easily keeps up with the bigger pups in her foster home. She is also comfortable around cats and has been smitten with a neighbor’s Maine Coon cat. She absolutely loves running with other dogs in a fenced-in area. For a little pup, she is incredibly fast!Sui has good leash manners when using a transitional lead. She enjoys walks around the neighborhood and in the woods, but the beach is her favorite place by far. She has even been known to frequent local breweries to listen to live music! She has started to approach people on her own to say hello as she gets more and more at ease with being in new situations. Sui knows she is pretty and loves to dress up in all her cute outfits, but she is a smart girl too and knows ‘sit’, ‘laydown’, and ‘dance’ for treats. She also has amazing recall and loves sprinting back to her humans when her name is called! She, like most dogs, loves her Lamb Chop toy and will carry it around the house. Sui is uncomfortable around kids, so an adult-only home would be best. Sui has separation anxiety, so she is looking for a home where her humans are around a lot or where there is another dog she can depend on. She is not crate trained, but she can be trusted home alone with another dog, especially if they are gated into a specific area.Sui is a flight risk, so caution will need to be used when walking outdoors or opening doors in the home. Sui is working on house training and does great if taken out on a regular schedule.More than anything in the world, Sui wants to be part of a loving pack that can help her build up her confidence and give her lots of snuggles. While this sweet girl may need a little extra TLC, she is absolutely worth it!Please Note: All dogs are posted until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. She would say age is but a number and has a youthful spirit. Tooty is looking for a home who's patient and willing to take some time to help her break out of her shell!”Tooty is a medium-low energy pup, who may have a few zoomies but perfectly content chilling on the couch nearby. She gets along great with other dogs and would likely do fine with or without a canine sibling. Tooty’s interacted well with other cats and kids, so she’d likely be fine with another cat or human in the home. She would do best with kids who are able to respect her boundaries and provide space to get to know them, as she is building her confidence to new people every day.She is working on her crate training and is mostly house trained. While she’d rather be with her people at all times, she has improving on being alone in a puppy pen. She would make a great work from home buddy. Tooty has had few accidents will continue to improve on a regular routine and schedule. She does well on the leash and loves her daily walks. Tooty is your classic chihuahua and has so much love to give- is she the one for you? Please Note: All dogs currently available for adoption are posted on our website.
