Story
Meet Slinky! Slinky is a 1.5 year old chihuahua mix with the cutest little face and mismatched ears. He loves to play - any toy will do! He is fully house trained and up to date on his shots, He does alright in a crate when needed but prefers to be with his people. He is a definite Velcro dog - you will never use the bathroom solo again. His favorite place to be is curled up on your lap on the couch. Slinky is happy to meet new people but takes time before he is comfortable with handling. He warms up to women much faster than men and would do best in an all-female home or with men who will be very patient in building their relationship. Even with time, he still will have his moments where he only desires affection on his terms. He will do best in a low-traffic household with adopters who have experience with dog behavior and body language. While Slinky gets along with other dogs, and even plays when he is comfortable, he will do best as an only dog in his forever home. He can get overstimulated if other dogs are excited and prefers to have his humans to himself. As an adolescent, Slinky is working on learning new things including that human arms are not additional chew toys for him. He is making huge progress with his manners and picks up routines very quickly. He needs a patient home that will continue to help him learn boundaries and how to appropriately communicate his feelings. If you are interested in finding out more about Slinky, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Slinky is being fostered in Shirley, MA. The adoption fee is $400. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Leia and Chunky are an adorable mother-daughter duo looking for a forever home where they can stay together. Leia, the 5-year-old mom, has beautiful long black fur, while her 3-year-old daughter, Chunky, sports a soft tan coat. These two are completely devoted to each other and are looking for a special family that will love them just as much as they love each other. At first, both Leia and Chunky can be a little shy around new people. They need a bit of time to feel comfortable, but once they do, their silly and playful sides shine through! They love to run around together, play, and keep each other entertained with their sweet and goofy antics. Their bond gives them confidence, and having each other makes the world feel a little less scary. One of their favorite things to do is go for walks side by side. They love exploring new places together and will thrive in a home where they can enjoy daily strolls and plenty of time to bond with their humans. Once the fun is over, they’re happy to settle in for some snuggles and relaxation.Leia and Chunky rely on each other for comfort and security, which is why they must be adopted together. Their ideal home will be patient and understanding, giving them the time they need to settle in and feel safe. In return, they’ll bring double the love, joy, and companionship to their new family.

Story
Brownie is a sweet and loyal boy who has been here far too long. It takes him time to feel comfortable around strangers, and needs several slow introductions, he is also more weary of men, making him best suited for a one-person household where he can form a strong, trusting bond with his owner. Once Brownie becomes attached, he is fiercely loyal and protective, always by your side and ready to look out for you. While he doesn’t seem to mind other animals outside the home, it’s unclear how he would adjust to living with them. Brownie’s favorite pastimes include rolling over for tummy rubs and basking in the sun, where he can relax and soak up the warmth. Always eager to be around his person, he will happily follow you from room to room, offering his companionship and love. If you`re looking for a devoted, one-person dog, Brownie is sure to steal your heart.
