Story
Meet Zeus, a 7-month-old Chihuahua with a big personality tucked inside his tiny frame! Zeus is playful, affectionate, and oh-so-sweet with his people, but he’s still figuring out how to navigate the world outside his comfort zone. New faces and unfamiliar situations can make him a very fearful at first, but with a little patience and love, he warms up and shows off his lively, charming side. Zeus was surrendered when his previous family had to move out of the country, and he’s adjusting to this big change in his life. He’s not used to being on leash but is learning quickly and making progress every day. He isn’t house trained yet, so he’ll need an owner who’s ready to help him with the basics and has experience with small dogs who might take a little longer to come out of their shell. Zeus would do best in a home with patient people who understand the needs of a nervous little dog and can give him the time he needs to build trust. If you’re ready to help Zeus blossom into his best self, come meet him today! If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter

Story
Meet Milo (green sweater) and Atlas (gray and blue sweater)!!! Milo and Atlas came into the shelter together in Tennessee. They were both strays but very bonded together. They were found together under a house and were very scared and lonely. These little guys are very sweet but also start off very shy when meeting new people. It takes him a little bit of time to warm up and understand that everything will be okay. We recommend that they go with another dog in the house, to help them show the ropes. Atlas and Milo both enjoy playing with squeaky toys and chewing on their bene bones. This will keep them entertained for some time. Once they are done playing whether it be wrestling with each other or their other friends or chewing on their toys, they will take a nap. Both these boys are very snuggly and are very puppyish once they open up. Being that Atlas and Milo are both puppies, they are not able to be left alone very long right now. We would say no more than 2 to 3 hours a day. We take puppies very seriously as they need training, socialization, and lots of attention. Apply for these handsome little guys together today and they will make you so happy. If interested in Milo and Atlas together, please apply online: ADOPTION APPLICATION or email us at Info.FetchingHeartsRescue@gmail.com. Unless otherwise indicated, all dogs adopted through Fetching Hearts have received the following before being available for adoption: Thorough veterinary examination. All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP Bordatella (Kennel Cough) Heartworm Test Fecal Test, Deworming Microchip Flea and Tick Prevention Heartworm Prevention. Spay/Neuter All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease. VETTING NOTE: Fetching Hearts Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. Story
Anndalina 11 YEARS OLD. Chi mix. black with white, no kids, no cats, okay with some dogs, basics of potty training. Needs fenced in yard and no apartments. Anndalina came to us as an emergency surrender. This poor girl was trying to chew her tail off and needed emergency treatment. We rushed her into our vet and it was determined her tail would need to be amputated to prevent any infection from spreading. We whisked her into surgery and brought her back to one of our foster homes. Anndalina has had a rough beginning to her life and she will need a patient and understanding home to help her become the dog we know she can be. We would recommend she go to a child free home and a home where her Chihuahua bark will not be a problem. A nice quiet couple or single person would be the ideal place for her as she can become overwhelmed with too many visitors. Once she bonds to her people she is very affectionate but it will take a while for this nervous girl to settle into any new home and she will need to be given time to calm and adjust. Please note we do not have a central kennel facility, all of our pets are located in foster homes. The first step in meeting one of our furry friends is to fill out an application on our website at www.rainbowrescues.org. A volunteer will be in contact with you in 1-2 business days to review your application and speak with you about the adoption process. **Please be aware that we are not responsible for inaccurate information on some cross-posted sites such as inaccurate adoption fees and inaccurate pet info.**December 4, 2024, 6:11 am
