Dog's Name: Guardo Dog ID: GUA1124BARMN Estimated Breed : Chihuahua Approximate Age: 5 years Approximate Weight: approx. 6 lbs Currently Living at: Foster Adoption Fee: $400 DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Looking for a furry companion who will bring joy, loyalty, and endless love into your home? Guardo is the one for you! This petite Chihuahua is ready to find his forever family. Here’s a little about him: Personality: Guardo is a spicy sweet, friendly, playful, affectionate guy who loves belly rubs and snuggling on the couch. He's always up for fun activities like short walks, playtime with little stuffed toys, or just watching TV sitting on your lap. Guardo wasn't well treated his first few years of life and therefore is slow to trust but after a few weeks of adjustment he loves to be picked up and held. He is good with dogs of any size, but we are not sure how he'll do with cats and it might take him a minute to adjust, but likely will be ok with proper introductions. He takes treats very gently, even with other dogs by his side. He can be fed with other dogs around and has no aggression or protective tendencies at feeding time. He plays with toys nicely with other dogs, but the one thing he's a little more protective of is his bone. His spiciness shines when you are trying to get him to do something he doesn't want to do, mostly getting him out of the bed! Coaxing works well (usually with treats involved), but forcing him up does not. Guardo does have a heart full of love and is sure to make every day brighter. Training & Behavior: Guardo is already house-trained (to go outside and to a pee-pad), crate-trained, and is eager to learn more! He loves working for treats and is a quick learner. He listens well to calm correction and proper direction. He seeks guidance and is learning proper behaviors from loving people that won't harm him. Health & Wellness: Guardo is estimated to be 5 yrs old. He is about 6 lbs and is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, and ready to join a loving home. He is in great health and would love to go on short daily walks when the weather is nice. Perfect Home: Guardo would do best in a home that has no children due to his untrusting reactions to uncertain situations (he can get a little growly and snappy). A mature adult-only family that has prior rescue dog experience and is calm, peaceful, and is willing to give him the time and patience he needs is the best option for Guardo. He is looking for a family that will provide lots of love, attention, treats, and positive reinforcement. Guardo's preference is to sleep in bed with you and is hoping his new family will allow him that luxury. Guardo is dog friendly, but doesn't need another dog in the home to be happy and would love it just fine if he was your one and only. If you’re looking for a loyal friend to brighten your days and share new adventures, Guardo is ready to join you! If you think Guardo could be just the right spice for your life, don't hesitate to reach out! We can’t wait to see him in his forever home.
