Story
Meet Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (and Snuggles)Elvira is a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix who might be small in size but has a personality that’s larger than life. With her strawberry blonde coat sprinkled with white flecks, fabulous ears, and a toothless grin that’s all charm, this tiny queen is ready to rule your heart (and your lap).Elvira is a pro at the essentials - she’s crate trained, leash trained, and knows “sit” “leave it” and “come.” She’s about 99% housebroken but may need a gentle reminder when it’s chilly out or she’s excited to see you. She loves other dogs, respects their boundaries, and would do well with furry siblings who don’t mind her lap-hogging tendencies. Her hobbies? Snuggling under warm, fuzzy blankets, enjoying mealtimes, and people-watching from her favorite window spot. Her dislikes? Car rides, long meal prep times, and being picked up like a damsel in distress, she’d rather walk to you in style.Elvira has a few quirks that make her all the more endearing: a reverse sneeze that doesn’t bother her, a wonky knee that doesn’t slow her down, and a bark that only comes out for important business like announcing passersby. This sweet, sassy lady is searching for a forever lap to call her throne. If you’re ready to be her devoted companion, Elvira promises to keep you warm, entertained, and very loved. If you`d like to take Elvira home, please fill out an adoption application on AARF’s website – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application! Elvira’s adoption fee is $150. By the time you meet your new furry friend, they’ll already be spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate), microchipped, and thoroughly checked by a veterinarian. They’ll be up to date on all necessary vaccinations, including rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). They’ve also been tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases (4DX) and have started their heartworm and flea prevention meds. Some of our dogs have even undergone extensive medical care to ensure they’re ready for a happy, healthy life with you!

Story
LULU Breed: longhair chihuahuha Age: 9 years Weight: 12 pounds Adoption Fee: $325 Vetting Status: spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, dewormed, heartworm negative and maintained on preventatives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LULU is an energetic 9-year-old chihuahua mix who loves lounging with her people, when not busy securing her territory from intruders like those evil squirrels or dumb birds. If you’re looking for a dog that will be your constant companion, Lulu is the dog for you. She loves spending time with you, either at your feet or on your lap. She tolerates other dogs & even the occasional cat, but would rather be your only dog. Lap time & cuddles are a must. Large dogs or small humans are bleh & to be barked at until they go away. She is housetrained & OK on a leash, so an apartment would be acceptable to Lulu.... though she may make you carry her up any stairs (doesn't every princess?). If you think LULU is the dog for you, please fill out an adoption application today! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LULU is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!

Adopted him over a year ago but our family has grown and he is quite the chatterbox. I don’t have the time to care for him the way he needs and he only likes me in the house. He’s a sweet dog who loves cuddles and watching Korean dramas.

Story
We found this pet on the street and my 86 year old grandmother decided to take her in. Unfortunately due to the fact that Maizie is only 2 years old she has become too much for my grandmother with her health conditions. She is playful and young with a lot of energy. She likes to cuddle and play tug-a-rope the most. She is very loving and sweet and absolutely adores belly rubs!

Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Chanel is 12yo, weighs 10lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Chanel is kept in her bed during the day and a night; she does well during car rides; she doesn't like 'being left alone at home too long by herself'. Chanel's guardian explains why she has made the decision to rehome her:  "I'm currently pregnant with my first child.  And it is getting very hard to take care of her because she is not completely mobile." Chanel's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "Pet is currently disabled, been to 2 specialists.  She has no broken bones and/or Lyme disease.  They are not sure what's causing her to not be able to walk." Chanel's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Chanel hasn't lived with children, her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "She allowed kids to pet her and her tail wagged". Chanel's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Chanel has lived with dogs, so her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "She is friendly with other friendly dogs.  She is scared of aggressive dogs". Chanel's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Chanel hasn't lived with or otherwise been around cats, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "She is scared of outside cats". Chanel's guardian describes her as: Couch potato Quiet Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side House-Trained Likes men Likes women Separation anxiety Chanel's guardian describes her ideal future home: "She will be well with someone is home and or have other pets.  She doesn't like to be allowed giving her situation to not walk, but she loves company.  If she can get physical therapy that she something she can really benefit from.  When I was able to work at home with stretching her having her walk a little she was getting better."   Rehoming Fee:  None Location:  Hyattsville, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. Story
Meet Tom Tom is a petite guy, between 1-2 years old who is very loving and good with dogs. His place is usually not too far away from his foster mom or playing with the other foster dogs. Tom is a loving companion and will be an amazing pet but he will need some training consistency and patience learning his household skills of housebreaking and leash walking. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. The adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Story
Meet Belle Belle is one of those dogs that just breaks your heart when you try to guess what she may have gone thru before being rescued with her babies. She comes to us from a rural area in Texas, has been thru some trauma in her life, with one eye cloudy and a large scar on her side. We think she deserves just the best loving family now. Belle is estimated to be a 2-3 year old chihuahua mix, about 10 pounds and so loving. She will be best in a quiet home, with another calm dog, or even by herself. Rescued from a kill shelter, she's learning to live indoors in a home where she's safe, well fed and cared for. She's a smart girl, mostly housebroken with only an occasional mistake. Her happy place is settled on the couch next to someone who will give her scratches and tummy rubs. She's fine with other calm dogs, learning not to be afraid of cats and enjoys attention from guests. Apply at almosthomedogs.org, click on adopt
