Story
Chase is a unique and loyal ChiBull mutt of some sort with an estimated birthdate of 12/13/2022. He came to the Mission during a medical crisis in which his family had run out of funds and options to care for him. If it's a disaster, it's probably happened to poor Chase in his first 10 months of life. He has had his leg broken, suffers from a neurological wobble of unknown origin, and barely scraped by when we received him and treated him for a very severe respiratory infection and pneumonia. Chase is also extremely unsocialized, having clearly missed the mark on experiencing the world through positive and predictable interactions with the stimulus around him and he can be very fearful when encountering new things.  Chase will be the kind of dog who needs a dedicated adopter who is not a push over and can set a clear path to success for him when it comes to socializing. There should be very little tolerance for reactivity and disproportionate responses to things that are not worth being afraid of, and there should be ample praise and reward for calmness and reasonable responses to the sights and sounds of the world.  Chase has been with the Mission for well over a year, and he's predictably wobbly with a yearning in his funky little heart for a home with one or two people, no other dogs, and no special expectations other than just hanging out and taking naps. Chase doesn't need to go everywhere and do everything. He can, and frankly wants to just be present at home and when company visits, he would prefer to go in his crate and be left out of the action. He's a man of simple means.  Chase comes neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. His adoption fee is $200 and includes a sample of the food he's been eating, a leash, collar, and ID tag. To be considered to adopt Chase, please visit www.murcismission.org and send in an application.  Thank you for checking out our boy! ##1824775##

Story
Faline is a beautiful and petite chihuahua mix that came to Murci's Mission from our partners at SCRAPS. Faline needed the extra support from private rescue because she is EXTREMELY fearful and needs someone who will not force her to be touched immediately and will give her time to decompress and choose to solicit interaction. Faline has an estimated birthdate of 11/16/2021.  If you are patient with Faline and give her some time to get to know you, she becomes VERY affectionate. She absolutely loves to curl up in her foster mom's lap and go to sleep. Faline is a very snuggly girl! She does well with other dogs in the home. Walks are challenging because they are very scary for her. She is constantly terrified that someone or something will pop out and get her. She will growl, due to fear, when she sees a stranger. Faline would be happiest in a quiet home that doesn't have too many exuberant visitors. During her time in her foster home, she has made leaps and bounds of progress with her behavior. This means there is a huge deal of hope for Faline to be able to settle in and become a great pint sized family member.  Anyone expecting to adopt Faline would need to expect that the initial meet and greet will be a hands off experience and there may not be a great deal of interaction. She may take a few cookies but will not be ready to accept petting and holding until she has had a few days to get to know someone. Anyone who is up to the task and wants to give Faline a go should expect to come meet her and listen to the Murci's Mission team explain some safe and escape proof handling techniques, and then be prepared to take her home on a trial basis where we will continue to work together to help you get settled in with her over the next few weeks.  Faline is crate trained and house trained, however, she may have some accidents while learning the routines in a new household. She walks well on leash but will try to bolt away if something scares her. She is alright with other pets who will give her space and not force immediate interactions as she settles in. We recommend children ages 10+ who can be committed to letting Faline approach in her own time. However, she would be very fearful if the child had friends come over that she is not familiar with. Faline comes spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed.  Her adoption fee is $200 and includes a leash, harness, collar, ID tag, food sample, and medical records.  To be considered to adopt, please begin by visiting www.murcismission.org and sending in an application.   Thank you for checking out Faline.  ##2237786##
