Story
This little bit of magic is Bella! She is all lap-dog love, a side of curious confidence, and part bird. That last part is only because of her love for a “perch.” All 6 lbs of her can sit just about anywhere she chooses and if it isn’t your lap, it will likely be the back of the couch or a comfy chair. Personally, I think it is just about the cutest little dog trait I have ever seen. The best part is that she is so content either way, taking only moments before she goes into a full dog-loaf pose. Watch her Get-to-know-Bella video and see the exact moves.
If you are a lap-dog lover and on the look for you perfect one, there isn’t much that would keep you from considering this girl. She is the U.N.- peacefully present, she is the bestie that listens but doesn’t judge, she is happy-tappys at the door when you get home. I don’t want to put words in her mouth but I am pretty sure she would LOVE to be someones one-and only. Not because she craves all the attention, mostly because its a role that is quiet and guarantees the maximum number of loooong, leisurely naps. She can get along just fine with any dogs but is fully aware of her polly-pocket petiteness when she is in the company of the much bigger doggie companions. She can handle it but would much rather live in a world where her size was cherished rather than treated with fragility.
Bella is so fortunate and is waiting for her adoption day in the home of a loving foster who has shared just how sweet Bella is as a companion. She has shared that her favorite place is anywhere the cozy blankets are stacked, often found sleeping soundly on the bed. She is friendly with guests and easy-going with kids, enjoying kids 5+ who understand that she is a mature lady and not up for games or rounds of chase.
An ideal home for Bella could look like so many things. Thanks to her size and quiet nature she would be a great candidate for apartment/town home living. Her foster reports she is quiet with only the occasional barks which are easily quieted with a correction. During our time with her we never heard her bark despite a slew of sounds from dogs barking, people knocking, and construction occurring in a room with an adjacent wall. When she was introduced to our house cat she was curious but cautious and respected his boundaries beautifully. She had no interest in pushing his boundaries- being avoidant whenever he shot her a disapproving glance. When introduced to a much larger dog she was easy-going but not eager to initiate play or pursue a friendship. This may have had a lot to do with the fact that she is keenly aware that post of the friends she met were larger than her but none the less, this girl isn’t cowering in a corner even if the most small dog averse every he even managed to win over the heart of someone who has never, for no good reason, cared for chihuahuas.

https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.
Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!
Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.
Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.
While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
