Story
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM SIMBA! I'm a young Chihuahua-Terrier mix -- about a year old or a little younger -- who is ready for a new home! My rescuers intercepted me at an animal shelter, when I was being dumped by my previous owners for no good reason. I'm a sweetheart of a boy - I get along well with other dogs, and I love people. I'm vocal when I get excited, but I'm also quiet, and I do well in a crate. I would love a home for the holidays, where I can spend time with my new person or people. What a great gift that would be! Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Mr Fideo! This sweet older Chihuahua is looking for a retirement home to call his own! Don't let his age fool you though, he's still got the spunk of a younger dog and would love to join you on your adventures. He is typical of the Chihuahua breed and has the spice and zest for life! He seems to do better with women than men, but with a little adjustment period he does well. He is doing great in his foster home and is showing to be potty trained as well! Neuter, microchip, and current vaccines all included in his adoption fee. Please start with the application: freedomboundhounds.com/adopt

Story
Meet Ari! This sweet mama came into our rescue with 5 adorable babies, and she is ready to retire to the life of luxury. We think she is around 8. Ari is a shy girl who would love a couch to cuddle on and lots of treats! She would benefit from a patient owner and calm lifestyle. She would also love a dog friend to learn the ropes from. Ari loves other dogs, and is fostered with cats and older children. Ari is going through heartworm treatment. Overall it's relatively quick and easy. The rescue is covering the cost of her treatment at our vet in Meridian. Poor Ari has had a less than easy and caring life. We are excited to show her the kindess of people and find her forever family. Spay, microchip, and current vaccines all included in her adoption fee. Please start with the adoption application: freedomboundhounds.com/adopt

Story
Elik (nicknamed Fennec the Fox by his foster family) is an active, young man. This is no quiet lap dog or arm candy; he prefers to use his own four paws and is not a big fan of being picked up. “It’s fine but can you please just put me down?” He’s good hanging with whoever will hang out with him but playing is required if you want a snuggle. Elik loves to shake things as he plays; he shakes all the toys, shoes, laundry….!! He is going to need a nice size toy budget but will make up for it in low grooming expenses. He shares toys and space well. He needs his daily zoomies! In his foster home he does zoomies in the back yard 5-8 times daily. Leash walks are great and allow him to use that super nose but it doesn’t make up for a lack of opportunities to run around at full speed. He is still working on the leash but will cruise given the opportunity. “I don’t mind the leash or the walking, it’s the picking up I’m not found of and humans definitely use that leash to pick me up.” His new owner needs to make a point of not abusing the leash to force him to do things he doesn’t like and instead work on him feeling better about those things. Elik definitely has a lot to say. He talks during play and is the best doorbell his foster family has ever had. A true chihuahua doorbell! If you live in an apartment you need to make sure they won’t resent the three bark chihuahua doorbell. He is quick to announce a guest’s arrival but gives new humans a good 2 feet until he approves. He is definitely not giving ‘pick me’ vibes and applicants have to remember that he will need a little time to be comfortable with them. As comfortable as Elik is in his foster home, he still has a history of lack of exposure to new things and things outside the home. In public places he attaches himself to his foster mom/dad; it’s a big world out there. With visitors or strangers it is: Alarm! Alarm! Alarm! Treats!? With new dogs it is: Alarm! Play? Alarm? Play! Elik loves to boss around the big kids in his foster family. He has no exposure to toddlers and young kids, but we don’t foresee a problem. With other dogs in the home, it’s “let’s play, let’s play”. Familiar dogs outside the home are greeted slow and low. Cats: “Can I smell your butt?” With other animals his philosophy is: “If they run, I will chase.” He does well in a crate (in fact loves his crate) and due to his young age, his foster parents would not advise leaving him out unless your home is well puppy proofed. Elik is fairly housetrained; if you take him out regularly, he will always go potty outside. He is still working on letting his humans know he needs to go so in those cases where they are oblivious, he might leave a surprise by the backdoor. “If I had a door of my own I would, however, be a rock star!” He has only just started learning new skills, but he is food motivated and smart. Elik is nervous in the car but ok once they arrive. He is 1 1/2 year old at most. He is a Chihuahua mix and his foster mom thinks some of his traits may come from a Pug - loyalty, perfect little spoon cuddle, and curled tail – and maybe some terrier - the playful adventurous nose and the way he plays with toys. Story
Morick is a sweet, tiny bundle of love! Despite being rescued from a hoarding situation with 85 other dogs, this little guy has quickly shown how trusting and affectionate he is. He has opened up in his foster home, following his foster mom around asking for pets, and settling in for cuddles. He absolutely loves people and would be thrilled to be your new lap dog! Morick gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with squeaky toys. He’ll even fetch them and bring them back to you! He’s curious about the world around him, but always comes running back for reassurance. Whether you’re doing housework or relaxing on the couch, he just wants to be by your side. He enjoys going outside, and a secure backyard would be ideal, though you’ll need to make sure he’s safe, given his small size. Morick is great about respecting boundaries and knows basic cues like “no” and “come.” He’s also a good boy when it comes to toys—he only plays with what he’s allowed to and doesn’t get into things he shouldn’t. While he does have a food habit from his past—taking a morsel and running off to eat it—this is common in dogs from pack situations and will improve as he learns he doesn’t have to share. It is easy enough to feed him in a place by himself so no one else can steal the rest of his food. Morick is neutered, up-to-date on his shots, and microchipped. He’s ready to find a loving family who will shower him with affection and make him their loyal companion. Morick is estimated to be around 1 year old and is a Chihuahua mix, possibly with MinPin. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, and loving little dog to call your own, Morick could be the perfect fit! Story
Meet Fancy, a resilient 8-year-old rescue Chihuahua who, despite a rough start on the streets, has proven herself to be an incredible companion. After being found in neglected condition, Fancy cleaned up beautifully and revealed her sweet, affectionate personality. Now thriving in her foster home, she enjoys the comfort of a cozy doggie bed and spends her days relaxing, with her favorite toys close by for the occasional playful moment. She is tiny and all of 12 lb! Fancy is wonderfully well-behaved-she's not a chewer and can be trusted alone in the house without a crate. Her easygoing temperament and natural charm have made her popular with her foster siblings, and she's always up for a little playtime with her doggie friends. While Fancy is still mastering potty training, she's making progress and just needs a patient, loving hand to help her fully settle into a consistent routine. One of Fancy's favorite pastimes is snuggling on the couch, and she'd be the perfect cuddle buddy for cozy movie nights or relaxing weekends. Her gentle, affectionate nature shines through in everything she does, making her an ideal companion for anyone looking for a little extra love and loyalty. Fancy is ready to leave her past behind and find her forever home, where she can continue to blossom and be the cherished family member she deserves to be. If you're searching for a devoted, laid-back companion with a heart of gold, Fancy may be the perfect match! She is being fostered in a home in San Antonio, TX. She is available only in Texas.
