Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. Surrendered by a family whose son turned out to be allergic to pets, Isla (pronounced “eye-la”) uses her sandy-white coat and black-framed, sea-green eyes to show you why she is named for the Spanish word for “island.” Her mom was a German Shepherd/Lab mix; dad was a traveling man. Lack of socialization left Isla wary of strangers, and she’s a little worried and antsy at first; but she comes around with a few minutes’ patience and time and is ready to play fetch and accept treats. Highly food motivated, she walks happily on a leashed “sniff and stroll” through the woods, responds promptly to “sit”, and is doing well learning other commands. At 19 months old and weighing 49 pounds, she is already house-trained (she lived happily with a family of dad, mom, two teenage boys and a toddler), crate-trained, spayed, and up to date on vaccines and monthly parasite preventatives.
