Story
Empress is ready to reign over your heart!  Greetings, loyal subjects! I am Empress, a 10-month-old, 24-pound poodle mix, and I am in search of a kingdom of my own. Born into an accidental litter and raised in a backyard, my royal upbringing lacked proper social introductions. But fear not! With a little patience and guidance, I am quickly learning the queen of the court.  As with any true Empress, I take my time getting to know new people and canine courtiers. At first, I may appear timid, but with the presence of a trusted doggy pal, I gain confidence. My foster fam has a pug, and I simply adore following her lead—whether it's learning to play or discovering belly rubs. I would flourish in a home with another pooch, though I am also open to ruling a kingdom of my own! While I am gentle and the sweetest lady, I do appreciate subjects who understand personal space. Quick movements can startle me, but I never resort to aggression. I’d do best with  older, well-mannered children who understand that even an Empress requires time to trust. In my kingdom, leisure and play are balanced in perfect harmony. I delight in zoomies around the royal gardens, chasing balls and stuffed toys. I am equally content lounging upon my favorite rug or sofa. My loyal subjects have ensured that I have plenty of chew toys to keep me entertained and out of mischief. My royal resume includes being fully house-trained, excellent leash manners, and a keen intellect that allows me to learn quickly. I do get a little sad when humans depart, but with a little reassurance, I settle down shortly.  Why should you invite me into your royal court? I am a gentle, loving, and low-maintenance companion who thrives on love and companionship. Whether ruling alongside a fellow canine or presiding over my devoted humans, I am ready for a furever family!  My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. Story
Age: 10 months Gender: Male Breed: Poodle Mix Weight: 49 lbs Personality: Riddick is the ultimate love bug who craves all the affection you can give! With big wiggles and tail wags, he greets everyone with pure joy and is a total attention-seeker. He’s a great playmate with his four dog siblings, including his brother Bernie, and would thrive in a home with other dogs. While he’s still perfecting his potty training and leash skills, he’s making great progress every day. Riddick has been wonderful with his foster's baby, so he’s sure to do well with kids too. If you're looking for a cuddly, playful, and affectionate family dog, Riddick is your guy! Education: Bathroom training improving rapidly. Crate trained, needs work on leash but improving. Favorite Activities: Playing with toys and the other dogs Looking for: Riddick prefers a home with other dogs and is great with kids. Once leash trained, he will be an active outdoor dog who enjoys plenty of exercise and adventure. Riddick was found as part of a litter dumped at SDHS, and he initially struggled with being undersocialized and shut down. However, he has made strides since being surrendered with his brother, Bernie. He would do best in a patient home where he can continue to grow in confidence, with other dogs to help guide him. Special needs: Undersocialized and shutdown. Will need help with confidence building with a lot of patience and behavior modification training. Need to go in a home with dogs who can mentor. Adoption Fee: My adoption fee is $500 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. ATTENTION:  All of our dogs are in private foster homes.  We do NOT have a kennel with multiple dogs.  If you find a dog you want to meet in person, please go to www.secondchancedogrescue.org and complete an application.    We will make every attempt to process all applications within 3 business days of receipt. // // Meet Larry!  Larry is a 3-year-old, 12 pound miniature poodle.  Larry has had a tough past and is looking for someone who will love him and continue his training regimen.  Larry loves his human and often wants to snuggle, get a tummy rub and have a chin scratch.  He loves fetch and toys and has even been working with some puzzles.  He is a smart dog and continued training, will be a great pet.  He loves going for walks, but he is reactive to other humans and dogs while out walking.  He has been working with a professional trainer and has been making great progress.  We are looking for a dedicated adopter who can continue to work on his leash reactivity, or someone who has a yard where Larry can get his exercise.  Larry is a good eater and enjoys scrambled eggs as a treat.  He is potty trained and will use pee pads if needed.  Larry sleeps through the night and enjoys sleeping with his human.  Larry does not like being crated and does have some isolation anxiety but will calm down after a bit of time.  Larry will do best in a home with a patient, experienced dog owner who can spend the time to socialize him. Larry is an amazing little pup who deserves a good life after the rough start he has had.  Can you give Larry the life he deserves? He is neutered, microchipped and current on vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption.   Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs,   vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to  www.secondchancedogrescue.org  and complete an application today!    All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.  January 24, 2025, 11:00 pm
