Story
Some dogs are good dogs. Cassey is something else entirely. We first saw her at the shelter when she was around 2 years old. While every other dog barked and lunged at the kennel doors, we turned a corner, and there she was — standing quietly, looking out at us with a calm that felt almost impossible in that environment. Without a word from us, she simply sat down. We looked at each other and knew: that was the one. That moment has defined the 13 years we've had together. Cassey has been through everything with us — a cross-country move from Atlanta to the U.S. Virgin Islands, two major hurricanes, the birth of twin girls, and eventually settling here in Charleston. Through all of it, she has been steady, loving, and endlessly calm. She still enjoys romping with other dogs, though she's earned the right to take things at her own pace these days. People are genuinely shocked when they hear her age — her health and energy just don't match the number. Everyone falls in love with her.
