You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! I’m Kishi. I’m working on finding my forever home. I am one of the biggest cuddle bugs you will ever meet. I am a people dog and love all the people I meet. I love to be by your side and helping you with your day. I’m a female catahoula and 7 years old. Because of my mature age, I am a great dog for someone that is looking for a quiet buddy. I love walks, hiking, and sleeping on the sofa. I am a gentle dog and listen very well. I know how to sit and am good on a leash. I am potty trained and sleep through the night. (It’s nice to not be a puppy!) When I am home in the house with my person, I settle quickly. I love to snooze either near to you (I would be a great home-office assistant) or in my dog bed. I have been kenneled at night. The kennel is not my favorite place, and I have been left out for several hours at a time without a problem. I get a little nervous on my own so I will need a slow introduction to being left alone. I have a pretty strong prey drive when I am out of the house. Watch out, Squirrel Nutkin! But I can live fine with indoor, dog-savvy cats. Outdoor cats are fair game. I prefer to be the only old doggie in the house. If you have an HOA with a pet limit of 1 and under 50lbs, I’m your girl! I have a wish list but none of these are show stoppers. I would love a yard to be able to run around in a bit. My current foster doesn’t have a yard and I’m doing fine without it. I would like a couple of smaller walks a day if you like to walk. I have been kenneled at night. The kennel is not my favorite place, and I have been left out for several hours at a time without a problem. I get a little nervous on my own so I will need a slow introduction to being left alone. What questions do you have about me? My foster mama would be glad to answer them!   About me: Catahoula 7 years old Sweet Affectionate Crate Trained Loves walks Smart Easily Trainable Potty Trained Good with cats   Not good with other dogs Working on separation anxiety   If I sound like the girl for you, apply to meet me today at https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 8, 2025, 8:07 pm

Story
I lost my family awhile back, so I am now ISO a life partner (or partners) ready for happy companionship with a handsome, mature Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. My rowdy, hard-partying days are past, and I am a healthy and lively gentleman of 7. While I do get along with other dogs, I like quiet afternoons lounging with my people and strolls any time of day. I thrive in a home free of young children, cats, or daily chaos. I am highly compatible with people I can play, learn, and grow with. I am independent enough to enjoy my own company in or out of my crate ( where I can have my own space to recharge) and see no reason to pester you for attention. I value serenity, a calm environment and occasional belly scratches. I am smart and eager to please, too, especially when treats are involved. Like all CAWS animals, I am fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. And, like anyone who has been around the block a time or two, my heart has some healing to do, so a perfect match for me would be a forever home with humans who can help me feel secure and loved, and where I can once again be return love as a devoted and happy best friend. Does this sound like you? Then I am your guy! My adoption fee is $200. CAWS dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-served basis, because we strive to find a perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an online application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Story
Oh yes, meet Barkley—the sweetest, most lovable Catahoula Mix you’ll ever meet! This big, goofy boy is a double merle Catahoula, a result of improper breeding, but don't worry, Barkley has been thoroughly checked and cleared by the vet. The only thing we found? He’s deaf, but that sure doesn’t slow him down one bit! Barkley is playful, sweet, and incredibly mellow—he’s the perfect snuggle buddy who just loves to hang out close by your side. At just 5 months old, he’s already 30 pounds and growing, and we expect him to be a big, sturdy guy weighing at least 70 pounds when he’s all grown up. He’s already had 3 sets of shots, a rabies vaccine, his microchip, and has been neutered—he’s all ready for his forever home! Much like Clifford the Big Red Dog, Barkley just wants to be your loyal, loving companion. He’s the kind of dog who would love nothing more than to follow you from room to room, crashing at your feet whenever he can. While he may not hear a thing, his amazing sense of smell more than makes up for it—he’ll always know when you're cooking in the kitchen! Barkley is great with other dogs and gets along well with kids—he’s going to make an incredible family dog. He loves being outside and running around, so a fenced yard is a must for this playful pup. But don’t be fooled by his active moments—unlike many Catahoulas, Barkley is calm, rarely jumps, and just wants to be near you. He’s working hard on potty training and is eager to please, so with a patient owner who’s ready to keep up with training through body language and movement, he’s going to continue growing into the best pup ever! His foster mom wants you to know that he is so loved!!! He has been a tremendous addition to her home and she knows he needs a forever home with a bigger yard, but she is going to miss Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 5, 2025, 1:42 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Rocky! I’m named after Rocky Balboa because, well, I’m just that handsome! My foster mom says I’m the most energetic boy she’s ever met! I’m a four-month-old male Catahoula mix from sunny St. George, and I came here with my two brothers. The rescue thinks my dad is a Catahoula, and my mom is a mix of Catahoula and Aussie. They were both big so I may grow to be 70lbs or so. Right now I weigh about 25lbs.  I carry the double Merle gene, so I have some eye issues, but don’t worry—I see pretty well and nothing’s going to stop me from doing anything! Like any large dog, I’ll need support with bone and joint health as I grow older. I get along well with other dogs, but I still need to learn some manners and how to play politely. I’d do best with an active family that can give me a job to do, and I promise I’ll give it my all! I’d love to have a big brother or sister, both human and canine. I LOVE to play! I’m a great eater and will do anything for a treat. I’m still learning where to potty and go out the doggie door with the other dogs. You’ll just need to show me the ropes in my new home. I love being outside and hope we can play together in nice weather. I’m eager to please—just show me what to do, and I’ll be your best friend! I have had my first 2 sets of shots including rabies, I have a microchip and have been neutered. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 5, 2025, 1:42 pm

Story
Reva is the sweetest dog in search of her best friend. Her previous life was a bit rough so she is looking for a soft landing. Her ideal home would be with someone who is home most of the time. She would be happy to have dog siblings but is also good on her own. She can get a bit jealous of others receiving attention, so she will need to learn about sharing. Reva has been good with other dogs, kids and okay with cats. She loves everyone she meets, but can be a bit timid around men until she gets to know them. She is still young so she does need some training and consistency to continue to be the best pup. Reva is athletic and can easily jump on to the top a 6ft fence so a good solid, tall fence is a must for this future Olympian. She gets anxious when left alone so she would do best in a home with someone home most of the time or have a very secure kennel. Reva is fully house trained as far as using the bathroom. She is still learning not to chew things up when she is nervous. Her puppy brain tries hard to please her person, but anxiety does get the best of her from time to time. Reva is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations and is mirco-chipped. If you are ready to add a fun athletic dog to your home, contact us today.
