Story
Finnean is a good looking boy, that is easy to see. What is a little harder to see is his heart. He is a sensitive soul that loves ease and calm, oh yes, and treats! It might even be best to say- his heart is in his stomach. He doesn’t have expensive taste though, he is as happy with MilkBones as he is with grade A jerky. Take a look at him here https://youtu.be/i3gLRxV53C0 Just like his taste in treats, simple is perfect with him. No frills, no fancy. He loves routines and shines in structure and stability. If he was a person, the military would be recruiting him. Estimated to be 3 years old and weighing 55 lbs, lapdog was never in his cards so you wont have to worry about that. He will be close by but won’t insist on affection. He loves the quiet moments of connection, letting you know he is there without being imposing, happy with little head scratches and you calling him over for the companionship. When it comes to his canine companions, Finnean welcomes them. He loves to play with moderately playful dogs and is especially skilled at navigating the dynamics of group play. He greets and welcomes new dogs with ease and a calm approach. While he’s not one to initiate play right away, once he’s comfortable, he loves a good rough and tumble round of wrestling. A home with a yard and doggy friends who match his energy level would be ideal for him. Leash walking is a mixed bag for Finnean. He’s generally easy to walk but prefers quiet walks over busy sidewalks. A calm, attentive handler will help him continue to grow his confidence in these environments as needed. Not everyones life involves busy sidewalks and this isn’t the only way for him to be stimulated and get physical exercise. Indoors, we see moments where it is clear he is experiencing something new, those are teachable moments and may come up as he settles into a home.Guiding and teaching will strengthen your bond and watching him fully find his ease will be deeply gratifying. Finnean isn’t a fan of kennels and may get anxious if left contained for too long, though he is making improvements in this as his foster gently guides him to knowing crates are comfortable and safe spaces. We never can know what a rescue dog has faced in their past but we can absolutely promise them only the moving forward. Thanks to his foster dad’s guidance, crating has become a stress-free process, especially when it’s paired with his favorite thing—treats. Finnean’s ideal home would be one that understands his needs for patience, and time to get comfortable. The quiet, simple life with a little yard would be this boys heaven. While he’s not suited for a cat-friendly household (he was a bit terrified of the cat,) he has the potential to thrive in a home where his independent, food-loving, and playful spirit can truly shine. Are you Finneans someone? We sure hope so. Apply today! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6740b688cd95d10ccf07024d Questions? You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience!  The adoption fee is $900 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship!  We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.  Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you're looking for the SWEETEST, funniest, most SOCIAL little pup with a DEEP SOUL, a big heart, and a SPUNKY personality... who LOVES to go on adventures and be your sidekick, and will make you laugh, TITO is the one for you! Tito is a SUPER sweet, very outgoing, 10 month old Catahoula mix pup. Tito is house trained, crate trained, leash trained, is fairly good off leash, and is also trained fairly well to jog alongside a bike on leash. He is also a bit shy, but once he learns you're his human, he will open up his heart and want to become your best friend and adventure partner &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143‍. PERSONALITY & ENERGY LEVEL: Tito is a very QUIET, medium-to-high energy pup with a SPUNKY and silly personality that will make you laugh, yet also... has a very DEEP and tender soul! He is EXTREMELY social, and absolutely LOVES to play with dogs AND some humans, and is ALWAYS the one to initiate play, and is GREAT at getting others to join him. He absolutely loves going on adventures and is looking for a real adventure partner to take him everywhere and show him a good time! But when things calm down, he opens a side that few get to see... the softest little TENDER soul, who just wants to turn off the outside world, and snuggle with you and give LOTS of kisses. AT HOME: Because of his energy & social personality, he would do best in a home where he can get the regular exercise and socialization he needs. An outdoorsy family or individual would be ideal, even better with a fenced back yard. When his needs are met, he can do just fine at home alone with toys or bones to chew on for a few hours, or if he lives with another playful dog, he will do just fine all day without his human. TEMPERAMENT: He is tempered amazingly well, and doesn't have a mean bone in his body, and has shown NO aggression to dogs, pets, or humans. STRANGERS: Away from home, Tito is quite brave and will approach strangers without much hesitation. At home, he is more fearful, but not aggressive. So he will usually bark. With a proper introduction, treats, and patience, he warms up well. KIDS: Tito has been exposed to MANY kids of ALL ages, and enjoys mellow kids, but is cautious of hyperactive kids. TITO - LOVES - DOGS!! Tito gets along with ALL dogs and his foster says he has never seen a dog SO talented at getting other dogs to play with him. He will use every trick he can to get them to play. He will often even sit on his dog-friends while they're taking a break... to get them to play, LOL! CATS: His foster has introduced him to a few "mellow" cats, and learned he does well with mellow cats when the introductions are slow, and feels he could do ok in a house with cats if SLOW introductions were allowed. TRAINING: Tito is also VERY smart and learns VERY QUICKLY and knows MANY commands. Like most Catahoulas, he does NOT do well with negative reinforcement, unless it is extremely gentle and kind. He is also "fairly" treat motivated, so treats help. RECALL: Tito comes when called about 90% of the time with few distractions, or 3/4 of the time around stronger distractions. HOUSE/CRATE TRAINING: Tito is fully house trained & crate trained, and loves his crate, and feels safe in it. WALKS/LEASH: He is great on walks, likes a fairly brisk pace, and loves to use his nose. He does pull, but not hard, and will slow down with guidance. Tito really is the cutest, funniest little thing, and will melt your heart with his love and his SOULFUL personality and will make you laugh on a daily basis. Whoever ends up with Tito, is going to be the luckiest dog parent. He really is such a tender, sweet boy, and is SO VERY friendly, and his bright, spunky, and SOULFUL personality seems to always make people laugh and brighten the mood wherever he goes! All he wants, is a SOULMATE, to be their sidekick and let them fall deeply in love with his beautiful and DEEP SOUL! If you think Tito could be the boy for you, apply to meet him today at https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplicationVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 17, 2024, 5:50 pm

Story
We adopted Izzy at 1 year old. She was being evicted for running the neighborhood, did not have a fenced yard. We have had her for 5 years, does not jump the fence. Does not do good in the house by herself. She does great with another dog and a yard to run in. She has separation anxiety she cannot be kenneled. She needs a lot of love and attention. She does well with someone next to her all day. She's a great dog very loving and kind. Great with kids.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there, I’m Kishi Daisy!   I am a 7 year old female, spayed Catahoula dog.  I weigh 45 pounds.  If you are not familiar with the breed, I historically was bred in Louisiana as a hunting and herding dog.  I form a quick, strong bond with my human.   My favorite thing to do is to go on leash walks with my foster mom.  I would be a great hiking and running partner.  I am a middle-aged dog, but I still have a lot of spunk and a lot of good years left.     I am house trained and kennel trained.  I live with 3 other dogs and 3 cats in my foster home.  True to my breed, I can be somewhat aloof with other dogs.  I would prefer to live in a home as an “only dog.”  I have a very strong bond with my human and prefer not to share my person with other dogs in the home.   I have a pretty strong prey drive when I am out of the house.  Watch out, Squirrel Nutkin!  But I can live fine with indoor, dog-savvy cats.  Outdoor cats are fair game.   My ideal home would be one with a consistent, regular routine with firm boundaries set by my person, and not too much noise or chaos.  I have said hello to some kids in my travels, and I am fine as long as they are respectful of me and my space.  I would do better in a home without small children.   When I am home in the house with my person, I settle quickly.  I love to snooze either near to you (I would be a great home-office assistant) or in my dog bed.  My foster mom kennels me at night and when she is not home during the day.  The kennel is not my favorite place, and I have been left out for several hours at a time without a problem.   I’d love to meet you!  I will likely give you a gentle sniff and kiss on the fingertips.  It’s my sweet way of saying hello.  If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an application for adoption and my foster mom will get in touch with you:   https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 16, 2024, 1:14 pm

Story
Shelby Shores is a dream dog, a volunteer favorite, a best friend, a family dog, your kids’ first rescue dog. Shelby is looking for a home where she can really be a part of the family, she would make an amazing family dog or a great companion dog for a retiree. We believe that Shelby is a pitbull. Catahoula mix, she is a rescue so her exact age and breed are unknown to us and cannot be guaranteed. Shelby currently weighs in at 47 pounds and is estimated to be around two years old. Shelby is a stunning girl with the signature Catahoula spots and partial iris heterochromia, gorgeous half-blue half-brown irises in each eye. Fall in love with Shelby here: https://youtu.be/hOu2Va3GpyQ?si=Izg-DjT_4EuPFddB Shelby is a rescue dog with a grateful heart. She gives wonderful hugs, the sweetest kisses, and loves to snuggle. She is a dream in the car and loves to go on adventures. She is great on leash. She is playful, but not overly energetic. She is a very good girl looking for forever love. When you first meet Shelby, you will be greeted with so many kisses. She warms up instantly and loves making new friends, knowing Shelby it will be love at first sight when she meets her forever family. Shelby is exceptionally dog friendly and has a rambunctious and rowdy place style. She loves to zoom and play chase with her doggy friends. She loves playing with tennis balls and she loves the doggy pool. We think Shelby would love to live in a home with a moderately playful doggy sibling. Shelby is a dream with kids, we have seen Shelby with kids as young as three years old and she has done wonderfully with all of them. She is very gentle and sweet and loving with kids. We think she would be an amazing family dog, the first rescue dog that your kids will talk about for the rest of their lives. Shelby has been cat tested here at the rescue and is cat tolerance. We believe she could live in a home with dog savvy cats. Shelby has great house manners and loves to lay on the couch. She graciously shares and encourages couch snuggling, this girl would love late movie nights and lazy Saturday mornings with you. Shelby is looking for a home with a backyard to zoom in, maybe some kids or other dogs around to play with, and a lot of love to share. Shelby Shores was made for loving, she won’t mind a socially active household where she can share all of her kisses with lots of two-legged and four-legged friends, she equally wouldn’t mind a socially introverted home where she can focus all of her love on one or two people. Shelby is adaptable, available, and eagerly awaiting you, with a grateful and open heart! Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Meet Duke! Duke is a lovable, sweet-natured companion ready to find his forever home! This gentle boy is fully crate-trained and house-trained, making him an easy addition to any household. Duke adores children and, after a brief introduction, becomes a loyal friend who’s happiest when he’s cuddling, receiving head scratches, or quietly observing the world from a cozy window perch. Plus, he's a quiet guy who rarely barks—even when someone’s at the door. Things we’re working on: Duke can feel a bit anxious around new people, but once he warms up, he’ll be your best buddy. He’s not aggressive, just a little cautious at first! He’s learning leash manners with a gentle leader to curb his pulling. He's also working on resisting the urge to counter-surf and understanding that beds are for humans (although he’d happily join you for a snuggle if allowed). Duke’s social skills with other dogs are still a work in progress. He’s shown interest in playing with larger dogs but has a cautious tail tuck, so introductions to new canine friends need to be slow and gentle. He’s very sweet with smaller dogs right from the start. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, and well-trained companion who just needs a little help with confidence around new friends, Duke could be your perfect match!
