Story
adoption donation : $699 weight  45 lbs  Age 7 months as of 1/15          Wyatt is a sweet and friendly boy who is great with other dogs and loves everyone he meets. He was found all alone in a pasture in a rural part of Mississippi, when the Wags director spotted him and called out, Wyatt came running over, tail wagging.      At the rescue, Wyatt is having a grand time romping with all the dogs and snuggling up together for puppy power naps!  He hasn’t met any cats, but he is a mellow boy and doesn’t appear to have a prey instinct and would likely be fine with them.         Wyatt is house trained at Wags but like any rescue may need a refresher course while he adjust to a new home. Wyatt is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccines. He is a sweet loving  boy who will make a wonderful family dog.    Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs.  Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use. For more information on adopting Wyatt or any of our many Wags dogs please email mariaeftimiades@yahoo.com    January 26, 2025, 8:58 pm

Story
If you are looking for a cuddle buddy, Atlas is the guy for you. His unique looks and amazingly sweet and inquisitive personality are products of his rich breed mixture. Atlas (also known as "Mr. Steal Your Heart and Pillow") enjoys long walks, short car rides, exploring, cooling off in creeks, lounging around the house, playing tug, unstuffing plush toys, wrestling and playing the bitey face game with his doggy sibling, cuddling in bed, and anything else that allows him to spend time with his family. At almost 3 years old, he has outgrown most undesirable puppy behaviors, but is still an active boy who requires adequate exercise. He does well with children and other dogs. He has done well with cats! He likes to lead walks and can be overly eager to meet new dog friends, so some training in those areas is recommended. He also gets overwhelmed in busy settings and sometimes experiences stranger danger so it is advised to avoid crowded settings unless addressed by a trainer. He is overnight crate trained, but he becomes anxious when left in the crate for extended periods of time during the day so his ideal home would have a pet parent who is home for the greater part of the day. Atlas is learning how to pull carts. He is a very smart dog and seeks to please his owners. Atlas is house/potty trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. If you would like to meet this handsome guy and make him part of your family, please complete an application at https://forrescue.net/dog-application/

Story
Meet Maui, a sweet 10-month-old, 30lb. Catahoula Leopard/Husky mix who was found wandering as a stray in South Carolina before coming to our rescue in Connecticut. She’s now in a loving foster home awaiting her happily furever after! Maui loves nothing more than spending time with her humans and doggy friends. This girl knows no strangers and greets everyone she meets with playful leaps and kisses. This girl is a super snuggler and always wants to be as close as she can be to you. Maui seems to be housebroken and is very well-behaved despite her young age. She is also not a barker and has been enjoying her time as an office dog, snoozing the day away after chewing her favorite bone. Maui absolutely loves the car and jumps right in, eager to go on all the adventures with you. She loves to play with her doggy friends but sometimes needs to be corrected when she plays too rough; she is a puppy after all! Maui can be excitable around cats so she would need some training if she were to go to a cat-inclusive household. A house with a fenced yard and another pup to play with is preferred. Maui is the true definition of a people dog. Could she be your new best friend? Her adoption fee is $450 and Maui is vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and will be spayed next month. If you are interested in this cutie, please complete the application at form.jotform.com/200883908893166. For questions, email info@happilyfureverafter.org.

Story
For the well-being of our dogs, our kennels are closed to the public for general viewing. If you are interested in one of our dogs, please call 1-800-452-0114 for more information or stop by our shelters 12:00pm- 4:30pm, 7 days a week and speak to one of our adoption counselors.~ I can live in a single family home or condo.~ I want to live with adults.~ I need a cat and small animal free home.*~ I may like to live with another dog pending interaction.~ I am a high energy kind of dog and am looking for a home where I can get lots of exercise every day.~ My behavior is very typical for my breed. I need a family with Herding experience. Are you a runner, biker, or hiker? Maybe you just think free time is best spent outdoors, enjoying all the sights, sounds, and smells nature has to offer. Okay, maybe it`s just Poppy who`s enjoying the smells. She`s looking for an adventure buddy, and this all-weather, all-terrain dog is ready for anything! Poppy is whip smart and ready to impress, so if you`ve ever been curious about trying out some fun dog sports, she`d be up for that as well. Once she gets that energy out, Poppy is as cuddly as they come, and wants nothing more than to be attached at the hip to her person.Like many herding breed dogs, Poppy values close bonds with a few friends over being buddies with every person she meets, and she has certain ways she likes to be handled by those she doesn’t know well. As staff have gotten to know Poppy and had the privilege of seeing her affectionate and funny side, she’s quickly become a favorite. Fosters have also had great things to say about Poppy, including that she’s potty trained, loves her toys, and is VERY cuddly! If you’re an active person looking for a canine companion to join you, Poppy is your girl!

Meet BAM! Bam is now 2 years, 2 months old and 62 lbs. He was abandoned in McKenzie, TN at a rental property. HOW HORRID! He had much higher energy back in Feb 2023. But with an AMAZING, dedicated foster Mom...Bam has established a regular exercise routine and he has nicely smoothed out his energy now. Bam's 'thing' is his georgeous blue eyes. They look like jewels glistening at ya! I did the breed app check. And if shows mostly American Fox Hound with mix of Louisianna Catahoula Leopard. I'm going with it as his breed has had us puzzled. Bam is great with all the dogs in his foster home...of both genders, all ages, and various breeds. He is good on leash, rides well, crates & house trained.
