In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Scrappy is looking for a home! Please share! Scrappy was abandoned, left in a house without food or water. Thankfully a young man took him in but then moved out, leaving Scrappy with his grandmother. She’s been taking care of him, but she didn’t sign up to have him, and isn’t in the position to keep him. He is a smart boy and learns quickly. He would like to be a lap dog! He is about 2 years old and about 60lbs. He is house trained but will mark in the house because he is not yet neutered. He is young and playful. He has some separation anxiety but that may lessen with more exercise and more playtime. He currently lives with another dog and being with the other dog seems to really help with the separation anxiety. He is a counter surfer and constantly looking for food.He needs to be taught to walk on a leash and be socialized. This dog has so much potential!! Please consider him. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/12 This boy is striking!! He started at Paws in Prison this week. While there, he’ll work with inmates as well as a dog trainer to learn the basics, leash walking, etc. He’ll graduate in 8 weeks with his canine good citizen certificate and then he’ll be ready to go to his new home! Who is going to be the lucky family to adopt this handsome fella? This is Aries who has one brown eye and one piercing blue one, which give him what’s commonly called an intense gaze. It’s like he has X-ray vision and can see through you and into the back corners of your mind. He can’t, but that blue eye does look magical! He’s a striking Catahoula mix and has the spots to prove it. Aries is house trained and enjoyed interacting with the pre school aged child in the home he was fostered in. He is very much a catahoula personality, with a need for exercise and stimulation. He can be stubborn, but he also loves big and is a lot of fun to be around. Aries is about 10 months old. We don’t have his weight yet, but a preliminary guesstimate puts his adult weight at 65 pounds. We’ll adjust that when we get more info. Aries is a people dog and gets along fine with other dogs. He’s bright, friendly and eager to make friends of all. The inmate trainers will work on his commands, manners and focus. He’s still a puppy with a short attention span. Aries needs direction, attention and love. The inmates teach him all that and more. Our prediction…Aries will be a superstar! He is neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative , and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. He is very much a catahoula personality, with a need for exercise and stimulation. He can be stubborn, but he also loves big and is a lot of fun to be around. He is a good boy who would benefit from some training, but has the potential to be a great buddy. He would do great as an agility dog or just a hiking/running partner! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.12/10/24 Look at this boy!! Meet Harley. He just started at Paws in Prison yesterday. Striped like a tiger, he is. That’s because Harley has a pretty brindle coat. The stripes are most prominent on his back. Harley is a handsome puppy with lots of little kid energy and a dose of showboat to go with it. He’s very smart and quick footed. Harley needs manners. His aren’t good, but he’s not to blame. Manners are hard to come by on the end of chain in a backyard. That’s where he’s spent his whole life, which is horrible. He appears to be a mountain cur mix, and a good looking one, at that. Maybe Catahoula mix? He’s 5 months old. Give the inmate trainers a few weeks with Harley and he’s going to be a great sidekick!!! Harley is good with other dogs. Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Star has been in foster care and boarding for a while, and she wants a forever home! Also, if you live out of state, we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend. Transport costs are included in the adoption fee.

Story
Scout is a neutered male hound/weimaraner mix (see his DNA results), weighing about 40-45 lbs. He is a sweet, special boy who has had a rough past and really needs an angel to step up and save his life.  His estimated age is 4-5 years old, however he has graying on his muzzle which makes him look older than he is.  He also has scars on his ears and face.  This boy has definitely experienced trauma and he is slow to trust people, but deep down he just wants to love and be loved.  He is misunderstood and has had people let him down too many times. Scout bonds closely to one person and once he trusts you, you will feel the love and adoration every time he looks into your eyes!  He is a lazy couch potato who loves to nap on the couch next to you and will follow you around the house like your shadow.  Once you’ve really earned his love, he will steal your slippers or other little trinkets that smell like you and take them onto the couch to keep close to him.  He won’t chew them, he just wants to keep a piece of you with him always.   Scout has been adopted and returned once due to fearful aggressive behavior towards men and children.  He has been in his current foster home for over a year now and has not had a single application on him.  He is a good boy, but he requires a very specific type of home to do well, and we have not had any luck finding the right home for him His current foster mom loves him and has worked hard to help him be the best boy he can be, but there is a man in the home and Scout just cannot comfortably coexist with a man.  He (the man) understands that Scout’s aggression towards him comes from a place of fear and he has tried hard to earn Scout’s trust, but the situation is no longer tenable for Scout or his foster family.  Scout will sadly be facing euthanasia very soon if we do not find any other options for him. Scout’s ideal home: A female only home, no men, children, or cats.  Scout does very well with other dogs and likes to be near them, he also has bursts of playful enjoy and will happily romp around for a play session! A friendly, confident doggo friend would help him to feel safe and to trust, although he would also do just fine as an only dog.  A quiet, calm home environment is best for Scout.  He is lower energy and is happy to nap on the couch all day, but he does also love walks (he is strong and tends to pull, so he needs someone strong enough to handle him).  He needs a home that will commit to crating him in a separate room when they have visitors over, as he is not good with new people and when Scout is fearful, he relies on aggression to keep him safe and to keep the “scary” thing away.  Scout needs someone to love him for who he is, warts and all, who will set him up for success and advocate for him. Scout is currently being fostered in CT and he is running out of time!  If you think you might be a good fit for Scout, please consider applying to foster or adopt him!   Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##1778132##
