Story
Kelly is a girl tabby cat that has black and white stripes. She also has strips of brown on her back. Kelly is super friendly and loves to get a lot of attention. She is very well behaved and she is 3 years old. Kelly is an adult cat. I'm looking for loving parents who can give her lots of love and attention. Kelly is fun, happy, smart and friendly. She is an indoor cat but may not mine going outside. Side note: I would have loved to have kept Kelly but my work hours are very long and because of that I can't spend time with her and give her the attention she needs. Also, my children have gone away to school and are not here to spend time with her either.

Story
Meet Bingo! Bingo was brought to the shelter in July 2020. He was part of a humane surrender along with many other cats, no fault of their own of course. Although Bingo was being housed inside, he was in no way domesticated. So, when he was brought to ICHS he was not a big fan of the change and he was definitely not a big fan of our shelter staff.Eventually, Bingo was moved to our colony room where he was able to roam free with other cats. Bingo preferred this over being in a cage as he did not have to have that close human interaction daily anymore. Now he had space to run away and towers to climb up on if he was feeling uncomfortable. And while Bingo ran away and hissed for a couple of years something in him was changing with every positive human interaction. Magic was happening!Fast forward to last year, and we have had an amazing group of volunteers who specifically work with socializing our colony cats, including Bingo. A few times a week different volunteers come in and play with our wand toys and Bingo realized when he saw his friends playing that it would be a lot of fun for him as well! It is his absolute favorite activity and he may even like playing with them more than any other cat in our colony room. Being able to play with our volunteers while having his boundaries respected and getting to see his best cat friends have positive interactions with people has really helped Bingo come around. While Bingo still is not fully comfortable with people, he has made huge milestones. A cat who could never be touched and who no one could get near is now a cat who loves to play with the wand toy, sniffs people's hands, lets you hang out around him, poses for close-up pictures, and...even allows you to very slowly brush him! Yes, that's right, just recently Bingo was brushed for the first time by one of our volunteers! Again, if you have met Bingo, you would know what an accomplishment this is. We are so proud of how far he has come and how he continues to do better every day. We are also so thankful for the work that our volunteers and shelter staff have put into socializing him! While he may not be your lap cat at first, with time as he learns to trust you Bingo is bound to be your most loyal best friend. A cat with a history like him bonds so deeply to those he can trust. We would assume, that with A LOT of patience, Bingo will come around to the idea of having a human best friend more so than he already has. Or perhaps you are a person who just isn't home a lot and you feel badly for leaving your cat alone for long periods of time. Bingo is without a doubt your guy! There is not a single cat that doesn't love Bingo. Every scared and anxious cat can find comfort in this big fella. He even has an immense amount of patience for kittens and helps teach them the ropes of cat life. So, if you're not looking for a best friend for yourself or a best friend for your furry friend there could not be a better choice than our boy Bingo! Meet Spaghetti! Spaghetti was brought to ICHS along with many other cats, no fault of their own of course. This silly boy can be the life of our Cat Colony. Spaghetti loves to run, play with wand toys, and get crazy off the catnip. This handsome guy does so well with other cats that he would probably prefer a home with another cat if possible! He seems to love playing and snuggling with every cat in our colony room. Spaghetti can be a little timid when meeting new people, but it doesn't take long for him to warm up. So, if you're looking for an entertaining and friendly little cat consider putting in an adoption application for Spaghetti today! Story
Meet Peaches! Believe it or not, this long-haired beauty was brought to ICHS as a stray. Peaches was not a big fan of the shelter life when she first came in, but who can blame her? Going from having all of the outdoors to being in a cage is a huge change! However, Peaches has gotten a lot better at adjusting to change as she has experienced a lot since coming into the shelter. After she finally got more adjusted to being here at ICHS, our shelter staff noticed some things were off with Peaches. She was excessively eating and drinking and was urinating more than normal. After being taken to the vet, it was discovered that Peaches is diabetic and her blood glucose level was high. Peaches immediately started receiving insulin injections and switched to diabetic-friendly cat food (we are using Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets Diabetic Management). Since starting this journey, Peaches' blood glucose level has dropped significantly and continues to get better! Because of her condition, Peaches will need to go to a home with someone who will be able to fully manage and keep up with her disease. This will include giving her, her insulin shot every 12 hours, taking her for frequent vet visits, providing her with diabetic management food, etc. So, we would prefer an adopter who has experience with diabetic cats or other diseases that require similar maintenance for Peaches. All of this care is worth it with a cat like Peaches! Since Peaches has been starting to feel better, we have really gotten to see her true personality. Peaches is a lot more cuddly than we ever knew! She loves receiving ALL the pets, being held, and even cuddling up for a nap with our shelter staff. She sure would love to snuggle up in your bed with you! No matter where you go or what you're doing, Peaches is sure to be laying nearby keeping you company. When she isn't being a love bug, Peaches enjoys exploring and gazing out the window. She seems to think that the cars driving past is actually a game for her. Overall, Peaches is a joy to be around. She is filled with personality and is a very loyal friend who loves to snuggle. While Peaches knows that her condition makes it harder to get adopted, she never loses hope that she will find her very own fur-ever family. If you know that you would be able to manage Peaches' diabetes and are ready to make a new best friend, consider putting in an adoption application for Peaches today!
