Story

Its hard to believe but Pepper arrived at our rescue FIVE YEARS AGO! She is the longest resident at Animal Advocates and all of the volunteers at the rescue would be overjoyed to see Pepper thriving in the loving home she deserves. Pepper had been taken care of, along with a number of other cats, by a local rescuer until the time a house fire caused her to evacuate. Most of the cats in the group were brought to the rescue where they were eventually adopted. Pepper presented as the most challenging of the group as she was extremely wary of people at first. However, with patience and lots of positive reinforcement, Pepper has come a long way! The way to Pepper's spicy heart is through treats and playtime. She will come out to play with wand toys and accepts treats and pets from her favorite volunteers. Pepper requires a home with experienced cat people who will show her love, consistency and accept her for the cat that she is. She has received yearly vet exams, is up-to-date on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/Felv, spayed and microchipped. During her time at our rescue, Pepper has seen and interacted with many cats and seems to get along fine with all. This young lady was seen scrounging food from a waste bin in a residential neighborhood with her kitten and pal Harvey. Neighbors alerted Animal Advocates' volunteers who set a trap and quickly rescued the little family. At first hesitant and wary of new environments, Peony is slowly learning people are safe and life indoors is easy living! Peony will accept gentle pets from her favorite volunteers at the rescue. She is slowly making progress, and we believe an experienced and patient caregiver will help Peony blossom into a lovely companion. Peony enjoys siting on the the enclosed "catio" and hanging with the other felines at the rescue - especially her pal Harvey. Peony protects and assures Harvey, and increasingly friendly Harvey helps spicy Peony realize that people aren't so bad! Peony is Harvey's very best friend - they cuddle together every night. Peony has soft grey tabby fur and bright green eyes. Her birthday is estimated in August 2021. She has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated as well as spayed and microchipped. Peony will take time to adjust to any new situation. An experienced and patient caregiver will be best, one who will accept Peony for the cat she is and help her feel safe and confident. Harvey comes to Animal Advocates after being rescued by local good samaritans who saw him hanging out in their neighborhood. At first hesitant and wary of people, Harvey has come a long way in his short time at the rescue. Harvey has become quiet a ham - he LOVES catnip and any kind of treat (as the saying goes, the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach). With a Churu or two, Harvey quickly warms up and gives head butts and seeks out pets from trusted caregivers at the rescue. Harvey enjoys siting on the the enclosed "catio" and hanging with the other felines at the rescue - especially his pal Peony. Layla is looking for love. Could it be you? Layla is searching for a patient caregiver who will love and appreciate Layla for the cat she is. While she can be hesitant around new people, Layla does respond when she is approached and loves her treats and head scratches. She is also a fan of canned food and basking in the sunshine and fresh air on the enclosed patio. We imagine in a home Layla would enjoy sitting nearby in a windowsill or the top of couch while her family watches TV. Layla had previously resided at a local business and kept the employees entertained with her feline antics. When the business was sold, Layla and her littermate found themselves at Animal Advocates. Layla is comfortable around the other felines at the rescue. She has not been observed around dogs or young children and would do best in a quiet home with experienced caregivers who will give her the time to get comfortable. Meet Dino! At around 15 pounds with sleek black fur and golden eyes, Dino's looks are as remarkable as his stellar personality! Dino's family made the heartbreaking decision to help find a home that can provide him with outlets for all of his playful energy. He lives comfortably with other cats at the rescue and previously resided with a senior citizen, with frequent visits to the household from younger family members. He is definitely very people oriented and will make his presence known, giving head butts and pawing at a leg or arm. We believe Dino would do best at home with experienced cat caregivers who can provide him with lots of appropriate play to help him learn boundaries and maintain a healthy diet. Suni and her fellow Olympians are hoping to flip, dive and sprint their way into your heart and home! Suni is all things "kitten" - she loves exploring, batting after mice toys and pouching on the other kittens in her litter. The kittens are residing in a volunteer foster home through Animal Advocates - receiving extra TLC while they train to be world class kittens! Suni and her twin sister Simone would do best in a home where they can stay together and would make a great addition to any family! They leap, tumble and spin - just like their medal winning name sakes - and delight their foster family and guests with their antics. They are always trying to perfect their tricks and love to be rewarded with pets. Simone has classic brown and grey tabby markings. The kittens' birthday is approximated in July 2024. All have tested negative for Felv/FIV, up-to-date on age/weight appropriate vaccinations and treated for fleas/dewormed.
