Story
Its hard to believe but Pepper arrived at our rescue FIVE YEARS AGO! She is the longest resident at Animal Advocates and all of the volunteers at the rescue would be overjoyed to see Pepper thriving in the loving home she deserves.  Pepper had been taken care of, along with a number of other cats, by a local rescuer until the time a house fire caused her to evacuate. Most of the cats in the group were brought to the rescue where they were eventually adopted. Pepper presented as the most challenging of the group as she was extremely wary of people at first. However, with patience and lots of positive reinforcement, Pepper has come a long way! The way to Pepper's spicy heart is through treats and playtime.  She will come out to play with wand toys and accepts treats and pets from her favorite volunteers. Pepper requires a home with experienced cat people who will show her love, consistency and accept her for the cat that she is. She has received yearly vet exams, is up-to-date on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/Felv, spayed and microchipped. During her time at our rescue, Pepper has seen and interacted with many cats and seems to get along fine with all.  If you are interested in meeting Pepper, the first step is to complete an online application located at www.animaladvocates.net (under the "Adopt" menu). Our team is happy to discuss with approved applicants the possibility of a long-term foster placement for Pepper.  In a long-term foster placement the goal is to connect special animals with individuals in the community who are interest in caring for a pet.  The rescue will provide supply and vetting support as needed.  Thank you for considering a rescue cat from Animal Advocates!November 14, 2024, 2:43 pm

Story
This young lady was seen scrounging food from a waste bin in a residential neighborhood with her kitten and pal Harvey. Neighbors alerted Animal Advocates' volunteers who set a trap and quickly rescued the little family. At first hesitant and wary of new environments, Peony is slowly learning people are safe and life indoors is easy living. Peony will accept gentle pets from her favorite volunteers at the rescue.  She is slowly making progress, and we believe an experienced and patient caregiver will help Peony blossom into a lovely companion.  Peony enjoys siting on the the enclosed "catio" and hanging with the other felines at the rescue.  A welcoming, feline companion is on Peony's "must haves" list for new home.   Peony has soft grey tabby fur and bright green eyes.  Her birthday is estimated in August 2021.  She has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated as well as spayed and microchipped. Peony will take time to adjust to any new situation.  An experienced and patient caregiver will be best, one who will accept Peony for the cat she is and help her feel safe and confident.   To meet Peony visit www.animaladvocates.net and complete an adoption application (located under the "Adopt" menu).   Our team is happy to discuss with approved applicants the possibility of a long-term foster placement for Peony.  In a long-term foster placement the goal is to connect special animals with individuals in the community who are interest in caring for a pet.  The rescue will provide supply and vetting support as needed.  Thank you for considering a rescue cat from Animal Advocates!January 27, 2025, 5:15 pm

Story
Layla is looking for love.  Could it be you?  Layla is searching for a patient caregiver who will love and appreciate Layla for the cat she is.  While she can be hesitant around new people, Layla does respond when she is approached and loves her treats and head scratches. She is also a fan of canned food and basking in the sunshine and fresh air on the enclosed patio.  We imagine in a home Layla would enjoy sitting nearby in a windowsill or the top of couch while her family watches TV.  Layla had previously resided at a local business and kept the employees entertained with her feline antics. When the business was sold, Layla and her littermate found themselves at Animal Advocates.  Layla is comfortable around the other felines at the rescue.  She has not been observed around dogs or young children and would do best in a quiet home with experienced caregivers who will give her the time to get comfortable.   Layla is up-to-date on all vaccines, tested FIV/FeLV negative and has been spayed. Her birthday is approximately 10/2016.   If you think you could provide a home for Layla where she would be given the TLC she deserves, please visit www.animaladvocates.net and complete an adoption application.November 5, 2024, 1:48 pm

Edgar is a mellow fellow with a lovely temperament! Edgar enjoys curling up in a soft blanket and snuggling. He lives comfortably at the rescue with other cats.  We surmise Edgar would do well in most home environments with other furry friends and a family to love him!  Edgar has grey and white tabby marking and very soft, plush fur. His birthday is approximated in 2022. He has tested negative for Felv/FIV, up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped and treated for fleas/dewormed.  If you are interested in meeting a cat, the first step is to complete an online application located at www.animaladvocates.net (under the "Adopt" menu). Story
Dolly is member of the “bad-first-impressions-with-a-heart-of-gold” crew. Dolly has been with at Animal Advocates for several months after being rescue from outside.  When she first arrived, she was terrified of people and hid from all of the volunteers.   She mostly stayed in a tunnel toy and would tentatively poke her nose out only after lots of patience and offers of churu. Since then, Dolly has blossomed into a sweet little girl who loves her trusted friends, favorite churus treats, pets, and even the occasional belly rub!  She would make a nice companion for someone with a quiet home and the patience to help Dolly feel safe and secure in her new space.   She's still shy when meeting new people, but once she feels safe she's a goofy, affectionate,  gentle little friend. She is up-to-date on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/Felv, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting Dolly, the first step is to complete an online application located at www.animaladvocates.net (under the "Adopt" menu). Our team is open to discussing with approved applicants the possibility of a long-term foster placement for Dolly.  In a long-term foster placement the goal is to connect special animals with individuals in the community who are interested in caring for a pet.  The rescue will provide supply and vetting support as needed.  Thank you for considering a rescue cat from Animal Advocates!January 10, 2025, 11:55 am

Story
Tuna Melt arrived at Animal Advocates in the chilly days of December 2023, after being rescued by a local good samaritan who saw her hanging out in the neighborhood. When she first arrived at the rescue, never knowing the sights of life inside, Tuna Melt was very wary of people and the new environment.    Tuna is a sassy and street smart girl, but with patience and consistency, volunteer caregivers have made incremental progress with Tuna; helping her to feel comfortable sharing the space with people and other cats.  The way to Tuna Melt's heart is through treats and playtime!  She will come out to play with wand toys and loves, loves, LOVES treats from her favorite volunteers. Tuna has two BFFs at the rescue with Harvey and Peony, a pair of fellow spicy cats, who love days spent lounging in the sun and watching the birds on the enclosed "catio" porch at the rescue.  She generally seems comfortable with all of the cats who have come through the rescue.    Tuna Melt requires a home with experienced cat people who will show her love and accept her for the cat that she is. A feline buddy in the home would help Tuna feel more at ease.  Her birthday is estimated in 2021.  She is up-to-date on vaccinations, tested negative for FIV/Felv, spayed and microchipped. If you are interested in meeting Tuna Melt, the first step is to complete an online application located at www.animaladvocates.net (under the "Adopt" menu).
