Story
Meet Martin! Martin is a special type of cat we lovingly call a Spirit cat! Spirit cats are very shy and prefer to spend time out of sight. New people and environments can be overwhelming at first and adopters should expect to see very little of Friendly as they are settling in. We often can’t predict how a spirit cat will be after they settle in - some become comfortable around their family and choose to spend time with them by sharing the same space or allowing some petting, while others continue to prefer to hide when there’s any commotion. Spirit cats generally prefer to spend their time around other cats and make an excellent kitty friend to a cat already in the home. Our staff can help prepare adopters to welcome a spirit cat into a quiet home, but patience and understanding will go a long way with Martin.

Story
Stella is a shy, sweet girl with a heart full of love for her people. Once she feels safe, she turns into a snuggly companion who loves curling up under the covers, asking for attention with her tiny meows, and playing with her catnip toys. She’s also very food-motivated—Temptations are the way to her heart! Stella came to the shelter as a stray and needed time to decompress. In foster care, she blossomed in a calm, quiet environment, showing just how affectionate and playful she can be when she’s allowed to go at her own pace. Stella will do best in a low-traffic, adult-only home where she can settle in slowly and keep her social circle small. She may coexist with a respectful cat, but dogs and kids are not her style. With patience, understanding, and lots of cozy hiding spots, Stella has the potential to be a deeply loving and devoted companion for the right adopter—one who’s happy to let her lead the way and celebrate the small, meaningful moments of trust she offers.
