Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Midnight's journey has been a challenging one; she was attacked by a dog, which left her with nerve damage and incontinence. Her tail had to be amputated, and she was sent to Black Cat Rescue to heal. Despite the hardships she has faced, Midnight has shown remarkable resilience and strength. With the care and support of her foster humans, she has made incredible progress. Her incontinence is now manageable with the help of a diaper, and she has adapted to her new circumstances with grace and determination. Midnight (4 years old) is now ready for her next chapter, a loving home where she can receive the care and attention she deserves. She is a sweet and affectionate cat, with a playful spirit that shines bright. She even still likes dogs!! All she needs is a chance to show you the love and joy she has to offer. Please consider opening your heart and home to Midnight. She has so much love to give and is ready to become a cherished member of your family. Together, we can give Midnight the happy ending she deserves. Here's what her foster human has to say about Midnight:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Midnight is a friendly and smart girl, she doesn’t hesitate to interact with people.   Does the cat enjoy being pet? If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? She enjoys being pet. Cheeks, head, and back, enjoying rubbing ears and belly too.   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She doesn’t like her rear legs being touched. Would move her legs away and give you some look.   Does the cat come on your lap? She loves coming on our laps a lot, many times a day.   Does the cat like to be held? She doesn’t seem like to be held currently, would try to jump away.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? She would if we let her. She loves being around us.   Does the cat seek your attention? Very much! She would meow or jump on our laps.   Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She loves to play, in fact, she asks us to play with her every day. She may play at one toy and grab all the toys around her together.   How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? She is vocal when seeing us in the morning, got home or wants to eat. Her voice is very soft.   Does the cat scratch a scratcher? She does, the scratch board is her favorite spot.   Does the cat always use the litter box? If no, please explain. She’s not using the litter box due to the current condition.   What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? She eats both dry foods and wet foods(can foods).   Is the cat picky about food? She is a little picky, loves pate and salmon flavor.   What is the cat's favorite treat? She can’t resist Churu!   Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes, when we just met her, she swat at me when rubbing her belly(she likes belly rubbing), but now she doesn’t swat at me.   Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Yes, and also the same situation described above. Sometimes she would claws out, but can’t be sure if that just her claws are a bit sharp, because she doesn’t show full claws.   Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No, she doesn’t.   Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No, she only lightly hold my hand in her mouth when rubbing her belly the first week we met.   To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? She is very friendly to new people, she jumped on and kissed us the first day we met. And I believe she is social and gets along with other pets well.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? Her sleeping style can sometimes make us laughing, she would straighten her legs backwards like a Flying supergirl.   In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? She has great personality, smart (fast learner), and gentle. Aside from her special needs, she’s an angel and a good friend.   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? The most challenge part is her lack of ability to control urine and stools. We change her diapers 4-6 times a day and give her diaper-free times few times a day. Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Layla is a gorgeous, sweet 3 year old girl who loves to be pet! About Layla from her foster home:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Layla is a very sweet girl who is a good communicator, letting you know when she does and does not want attention. She's a cuddlebug and loves a lap!   Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, and she will let you know by chasing down your hands.   If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet?  She likes getting pet on the chin and cheeks, and will tolerate the back and butt.   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She will flop onto her back, but she does not seem to enjoy getting belly rubs.   Does the cat come on your lap? Yes! She loves a lap.   Does the cat like to be held? She will make protesting meows when being picked up, but doesn't seem to be particularly aggressive or agitated, so I don't think she enjoys it, but she will tolerate it.   Does the cat sleep in your bed? Yes.   Does the cat seek your attention? Yes, but on her own terms.   Does the cat like to play? She does like a catnip banana, and she will show some interest in interactive toys if you give her some time, but she's not particularly rambunctious.   What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She likes rolling around on catnip and gnawing on her banana. She also has a puzzle feeder to prevent her from eating too quickly.   How vocal is the cat? She's pretty quiet overall.   What kinds of sounds does the cat make? She likes to make these soft meows when she wants attention or when she wants to protest something that you've done.   Does the cat scratch a scratcher? She does not seem to be interested in the cardboard scratchers I have around the house.   If no, please explain. She seems to be much more interested in the rugs instead.   Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes.   What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? She is getting wet food twice a day and dry food in her puzzle feeder once a day.   Is the cat picky about food? She seems a bit more picky about wet food than dry food, and she doesn't always clean her wet food bowl all the way before demanding new food in it. I have had some luck with Reveal wet food along with Purina Cat Chow Naturals for the dry food.   What is the cat's favorite treat? She likes Greenies.   Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? No. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? No. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? She will nip occasionally if your hands move too close to her face or when she overstimulates herself from licking hands or getting pet. Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No.   To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? She seems to enjoy meeting new people and getting all the attention that comes with that. She is overall a very social and confident cat.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions?   She will let out little, protesting meows when you move from a position she does not approve of. She also loves flopping onto her side and rolling around on her back. She also likes to lick hands, which is also cute.   In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle, but she's also happy to wander off and do her own thing. Overall, she's a very lazy, mellow cat.   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? She will hiss when she's uncomfortable and unsure, which can be surprising to hear after dealing with other cats. It will be important to pay attention to her boundaries and to listen to what she's telling you. She also dislikes certain noises (like the sound of my heater vents) and will become agitated by them, though she has calmed down somewhat with exposure. Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston About Holly from her foster home:   How would you describe the cat's general personality? Holly is a sweet gal who plays hard and snoozes harder. She has a lot of opinions and is very communicative!   Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes! She loooooves cheek/chin/head scratches   Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? She doesn't especially like pets on her lower back/just above her tail   Does the cat come on your lap? She doesn't sit on my lap but she will step on my lap to get to things she wants to sniff   Does the cat like to be held? No, but she tolerates it briefly   Does the cat sleep in your bed? N/A   Does the cat seek your attention? Yes! She follows me around and will meow loudly if she is being ignored   Does the cat like to play? Yes!   What are the cat's favorite games and toys? She loves to play with catnip mice and then sprint around the house. She also enjoys hunting ribbon toys and will slowly grab more and more of the ribbon until she has pulled the handle out of your hands (she is a very mighty hunter)   How vocal is the cat? Oh my gosh she is so chatty   What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Holly can be very loud - she is very good at letting you know when she wants attention and makes cute little chirping noises when she wants to play. On occasions, she will wander back and forth through my apartment meowing - she doesn't like when doors are closed, she doesn't like when the neighbors are on the porch, and she sometimes just needs the world to know her feelings about nothing in particular.   Does the cat scratch a scratcher? Yes   Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes   What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? 1 can fancy feast in the morning + 1 scoop Purina indoor cat chow in the evening.   Is the cat picky about food? Nope! She seems to be up for whatever   What is the cat's favorite treat? She loves churu, and will try to steal the packet from you if you aren't squeezing it out fast enough   Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes - she sometimes gets overstimulated, either due to stress or because she's having play zoomies, and if you try to touch her at these times she'll growl and swat   Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Once or twice - I've had to help disentangle her from toys or the window blinds and therefore been unable to respect her Stay Away From Me signals, and then she's pulled out her claws.   Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? Yes, when overstimulated/stressed   Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No   To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? She seems very chill around a small number of new people (1-2) if they're willing to squat down and not be Alarmingly Tall near her. If there are too many people or they're too loud, she will disappear into a safe corner until they've been gone for a few hours. Also, she's very protective of her space, so new people entering (whether actually coming into the apartment or just going through the front door and to my upstairs neighbors) can sometimes trigger meowing.   Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? This is maybe the softest cat I have ever pet. She yawns a lot, and whenever she wakes up from a nap she arches her back way up like a Halloween decoration.   In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? Holly is a fun, energetic, and very affectionate kitty. She's not currently a huge cuddlebug or lap kitty, but she likes to hang out near me and give/receive affection. She is curious, playful, and very pretty.   What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? She is a bit of a door dasher. She's also somewhat easily overstimulated, prone to causing chaos (climbs into and gets stuck in window blinds, knocks stuff off counters, sprints through the house and crashes into walls), and quite vocal. I think she would do best in a home where there's a lot of enthusiasm for play, but also an opportunity for her to have her own space and take things at the pace she feels comfortable with. Story
To adopt this cat from Black Cat Rescue, please fill out a profile https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston Sugar and Spice are a bonded pair of kitten brothers. Here's what their foster humans say about them: How would you describe the cat's general personality? Sugar and Spice are fun, loving brothers, approximately 5-6 months old. They were initially under socialized, but have come out of their shells in foster care. Sugar is the more confident of the two, and loves to play hard and snuggle harder! Spice is a lovebug, who purrs loudly when cuddled, and also likes to play with his foster caregivers and his brother. They are adorable fluff-balls! Does the cat enjoy being pet? Yes, they both enjoy being pet. Sugar will roll over and show his belly during petting, while Spice prefers to be held/be on a lap to be pet. If yes, on what parts of its body does the cat like to be pet? All over! Are there any parts of its body that the cat does NOT like being touched? Spice likes belly rubs but Sugar is not so sure about them. Does the cat come on your lap? You have to pick them up and put them on your lap, but yes, both enjoy being on a lap for pets. Sugar can get wriggly after a bit, but Spice will stay for a long time! Does the cat like to be held? Yes, they both enjoy being held and cuddled. When on your lap, they both sometimes like to nuzzle their head into your elbow or hand. Does the cat sleep in your bed? They have not had the opportunity to do so. Does the cat seek your attention? Sugar seeks attention more than Spice. He will sometimes meow for attention and will walk up to you. With Spice you have to go to him and pick him up, then he remembers how much he likes to be held and starts purring within a few seconds. They really love human contact, they just haven’t figured out how to ask for it yet. Does the cat like to play? What are the cat's favorite games and toys? These boys LOVE to play! They like to play together, playing chase and wrestling each other. They love to play with a wand toy too – we have used this to socialize them and get them used to new spaces. How vocal is the cat? What kinds of sounds does the cat make? Not very vocal. Sugar will meow a little bit for attention, and Spice is pretty silent. Both have mighty purrs, with Spice’s being the loudest. Spice will occasionally growl at Sugar if he gets too close to the wand toy during play. Does the cat scratch a scratcher? We have given them access to vertical scratchers, but they are only just discovering these. They have not scratched at furniture. Does the cat always use the litter box? Yes, they have excellent litter box habits. What food and frequency is the cat currently eating? They eat wet (Fancy Feast) and dry (Purina) kitten food twice a day. Is the cat picky about food? Not at all picky. They are good eaters. What is the cat's favorite treat? Churu or other lickable tube treats. We used these extensively when socializing them. They also like Greenies dental treats. Does the cat ever swat (claws in) at you? If so, under what circumstances? Yes, during play. Has the cat ever scratched (claws out) you? Only in their first few days when we were trying to catch them to pick them up. We then switched to putting them in cages for a few weeks for socializing them, and they did not swat after that. Does the cat ever nip (teeth without breaking skin) you? No Has the cat ever bitten you (breaking skin)? No To the best of your knowledge, how does the cat react to new people? Social? Fearful? We have only introduced them to one new person so far and they were surprisingly chill, allowing us to trim their nails while the new person fed them Churu. Does that cat have any cute/quirky traits that aren’t covered by the previous questions? They are a very fun bonded pair. When we released the two of them from cages for the first time, they spent HOURS running around, frolicking and playing together. It was so heartwarming to see! In your opinion, what is the best thing about the cat? Why should an adopter choose THIS cat to adopt? They’re a great pair with a lot of love to give. They really enjoy human company and each other. What are the cat's challenges and how have you found to best manage them? They were initially under-socialized. They will need an adopter who will continue to work with them and give them positive reinforcement (eg treats). They have been on a very steep socialization trajectory and handled this well. We found that having them in a routine of always interacting with them in the same way each time has helped, especially for Spice who is the more cautious of the two.   To learn more about adopting this cat in Massachusetts, please visit www.blackcatrescue.com or fill out an Adoption Profile at https://blackcatrescue.com/adopt-cat-boston.  December 23, 2024, 6:21 pm

Story
He hasn't gotten along well with my first cat, but I believe that's mostly the other cat's fault. So he might get along with a more mellow cat. I think he would be fine with a dog, although he hasn't met one yet. He still nips me sometimes because I never really taught him not too, but not enough to hurt. He is cuddly, enjoys being picked up and rubbing his head on mine.
