Story
Meet Gaia, This beautiful girl is looking for a home where she can be your one and only cat. She is a nervous girl and will take a little time to really adjust to a new home. But she can be very sweet once she makes a bond with you. She would do well with older kids who will give her space when she needs it. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. If you're ready to adopt within the next 24-48 hours and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30p-3:00p. For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt! **OR** Click on the pink "Adopt me" button to submit an adoption inquiry. Watch your email for a response from us! Adopting through this process will take several days and highly desirable pets are likely to no longer be available. PLEASE NOTE: Adoption inquiries are not holds or reservations. Pets are adopted by the first person we talk with who is a good match for the pet's needs. Multiple inquiries are accepted for each pet. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.

Story
Snickers and Tiger are a bonded pair , Yes they are 17 years old , and in great health. They are up to date on vet care. We also did a senior blood test on both kitties and came back great , no under lying issues. They love playing together and love looking outside in the cat tree , seeing all the nature. They were surrendered only because the previous owner who had them since kittens, got dimensia , and was placed in a home. She loved these cats so much , she took extra special care of them since kittens. You would not tell there age because they love to play together . The adoption fee is 200 for the pair.

Story
Bert's journey has brought him to us from another shelter, so we don't know much about his past. What we do know is that change has been tough on him, and since arriving here, he's been nervous and shy. Do you want to make a difference in a special kitty’s life? Consider adopting one of Dakin’s “Spirit Cats.” These cats are fearful of people and don’t require a lot of attention. What they do need is a place to park their paws in a quiet home where they’ll be loved just the way they are. One day, you may find that you’ve earned their trust and get head butts and maybe even a bedtime buddy. But there are no guarantees. Your visitors will never see them because they’ll quietly slip away and disappear into a closet. Spirit Cats may enjoy being around their own kind and sometimes make great companions for other cats. Are you ready to make a difference in a special kitty’s life? Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) You can also: Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet, to adopt sight unseen or to place a 24 hour hold on a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours.
