Story
Honey lived large with a big family in close quarters for a few months before coming to the shelter-there she was with adults, an older child, dogs and even a cat. She`s very housetrained and can wait several hours for a potty break. She`s also dutiful in following requests. Playing fetch is one of her favorite activities - she`ll drop it at your feet and back up to wait - she`s a fetch machine! When the play is done she`ll be ready for some affections. Honey likes to feel safe and secure like all dogs do, and this can be hard in a shelter where she feels vulnerable behind bars. She`s also crate trained and in a home, a crate den offers a quiet and comfortable retreat. Ask staff or her volunteer advocates for help meeting her. She`s advocated for by her many friends and fans including ClassicCaninesATX.

Story
The shelter is a tough place for Stax’s light to shine. Stax tends to get amped up by all the dogs and barking around him, and unfortunately for Stax, being surrounded by other dogs is simply the nature of shelter life. But inside our tiny homes on campus, this guy relaxes and melts into the ultimate snuggle buddy. As far as Stax is concerned, he fits perfectly in your lap! He gives gentle kisses, loves to be brushed, and loves to play with stuffed toys. What else do we love about Stax? He is treat motivated and knows “sit”; we feel confident that he’s ready to learn more! Stax keeps his kennel spotless and is always eagerly waiting to go potty outside. Stax walks calmly on leash when away from other dogs - except for a good squirrel chase here and there! Stax is ready and waiting to join you on your outdoor adventures and then snuggle up next to you when it’s time to relax.

Story
Did someone say ball?! Well that`s what Kanga is all about! This little guy has zoomies for days if a tennis ball is involved! He`ll drop the ball right at your feet everytime too.Kanga came in as a young puppy and unfortunately has grown up in the shelter. He still has a lust for life no matter how short of a break from his kennel may be. He excels at fetch which is definitely his love language. Since Kanga is a young, active pup he`d prefer an owner or household to match his energy level.Kanga would benefit from lots of daily exercise, be it, ball time, hiking, running or agility. Those types of activities would make his heart sing! Kanga would do great in basic manners classes to help hone in his social and leash skills. Austin Animal Center offers 2 free vouchers for any dog adopted via a partner sponsorship program. This sweet boy would love a home of his own. Such a long stint in a kennel is especially hard on the younger, very energetic dogs. So, if you`re looking for a fun loving, spunky goofball then this little kangaroo is your boy!

Story
Benji is up for adoption in TX only! Benji is a 1-year-old, 25-pound Red Heeler/Carolina mix who’s likely full-grown and ready to find his forever home. This handsome boy has a stunning red coat and an even more beautiful personality. While he may be a little timid at first, it doesn’t take long for his playful and affectionate side to shine through. Benji is a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with both dogs and humans. He’s incredibly sweet and has a natural charm that makes him a joy to be around. He’s also a quick learner! Benji is fully potty trained (not a single accident!) and picked up the “sit” command in just a couple of days. Though he still has some puppy energy, Benji is well on his way to becoming the perfect companion. He loves to play but might chew on things if left alone too long, so he’ll need some monitoring as he continues to learn. Long car rides aren’t ideal for Benji since he can get car sick, but he’s more than happy to join you on shorter adventures. Benji is a great and easygoing dog who would thrive in a loving home with someone who can give him the time and attention he deserves. Are you ready to meet your new best friend? Benji can’t wait to meet you! To apply directly for Benji click the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-590 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).
