Meet Duke! I named her Duke because I thought she was a boy when I got her, later realizing she wasn't... She is amazing! My mom's dog passed away so I got her Duke. Shortly after she received a big promotion and is now never home. We're not too sure what to do with her because she is not getting the adequate attention she needs. She needs a loving home if anyone can help!

It was difficult to get pictures of Halo standing. Whenever I would go towards her to take a photo she would lay down and sometimes roll over. Halo is a golden honey-colored Carolina dog/terrier pit mix that weighs 28 pounds. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/9 as a stray. I was reading about the Carolina dog breed and discovered that they are naturally shy. However, once they become familiar with you they are known to be very loyal. And just look at those eyes!! If they don't melt your heart, I don't know what will! I was met at first with puppy enthusiasm, but then once she got in the yard her shyness came out. She does sit for treats and usually takes them gently. She loves belly rubs. That's part of her being submissive. She did try to make friends with some of the smaller dogs. She walks OK on a leash. She's a total sweetheart and is absolutely adorable! She is not full grown yet, so keep that in mind. She wants to be an inside dog where she can get her belly rubbed anytime she wants. She should do very well with children.

This beautiful girl is Sweets and she is true to her name. She is a young pup apprx 2 1/2 yrs. old., fully vetted and heartworm negative. She is crate and house trained and good on a lead. Sweets loves to play with the others here (see video). She is Carolina Dog which is kind of unusual, she is very quiet and her eyes are stunning! We would prefer a home with another dog, smilar in size, for her to play with, but not mandatory. And due to her puppy playfulness we would recommend a home with no small children. Meet Troy Bolton!  He is  Athletic, Handsome and sometimes even shy!  He is about 2 years old and only weighs 30 lbs!  He needs a home and a yard with a fence like most dogs. He is good with dogs.  Currently he is with an older 10 lb female and plays well with same aged 60 lb dog!  Good with 14 yr old female – no younger kids in the Foster Family.  He is good in a car - he is finally getting used to it!  He is potty trained and doesn't mark. He is learning how to walk on a leash and getting better!  Troy would be best with older kids since he is not used to lots of noises. He is  skittish and shy. He is scared of everything inside and outside the house – almost as if he was just kept in a crate all day.  He needs an experienced dog family. He will warm up to you eventually if you sit on the patio step and let him come to you.  He needs to learn and trust and he wil and is with his foster family.  Once he warms up to you, he will play ball. He plays nice ball with the other 60 lb dog in the Foster Family – did not witness any aggression or fighting over the ball. He is still working on “drop it” but he will “sit” and wait for you to throw the ball – then he will fetch it. It would be ideal for him to have another dog to learn from and play with!   He is a sweet boy who is worth having a loving family love him and build his selfl confidence! ##1816160##

Reece is a beautiful Carolina dog mix and she's about one year old.  She was rescued and now she is ready to find a furever home.  Reece sleeps through the night in her crate and is wonderful around other dogs.  She is up to date on shots and will soon be spayed.  Reece would love to meet you and show off how amaing she is!
