Story
Meet Louise! “Weezie” for short. Isn’t she the cutest with that curly tail? She is such a goofy girl and a fantastic dog. She has the funniest bark. It’s a combination of a bark and a yodel. Louise is a gentle soul with a big heart, just waiting for the right person to earn her trust. She needs an adopter with a calm home and a patient approach who can give her the space and time she needs to blossom. While in foster care, she has been amazing. She is house broken with no accidents. Crate trained, just say “kennel”, point to crate and step back, she will go in - Treat - Once her routine was established, she had free roam of the house, unless they left, as she is still a puppy and doesn’t know what toys are hers. Responds immediately to “eh”, “mine” and “leave it”. Knows “nite, nite” means bedtime and when she gets in the crate, she gets a treat. She loves her treats! Loves playing in the backyard but if you give her a chew bone, she will probably just go bury it. If she is crated, she will whine if she needs to go out, otherwise, she will go sit at the door. She will do the same when she is ready to come inand if you don’t notice her, she will tap the door with her paw. Does not have separation anxiety and not afraid of storms. Has no aggression of any kind. She sleeps thru the night and loves sleeping in. Quite the princess! Amazing, right? She walks ok on the leash (no flexi-lead) – loud noises, or large dogs tend to be overwhelming. She’s learning to pause and refocus with a little guidance. She seems tohave a high prey drive for squirrels/bunnies, so remain alert and redirect. Foster family has a cat and they had no problems. One note – she does find security in her leash, so if she doesn’t want to come out of the crate, put her leash on, leave it on floor and give her a few minutes. Then see if she will come out with some gentle guidance. Are you that special person with lots of treats for Louise? Are you the one who can commit to her the time and patience she will need to begin to feel safe and loved? If so, you will never find a more rewarding experience with a dog than this.

Story
Meet Mini, a young, gentle soul who is unfamiliar with the world. Despite her shy and cautious nature, Mini is incredibly sweet and friendly once she realizes that she can trust you. Her previous life outdoors left her somewhat unsocialized and jumpy, yet she remains loving and eager to bond. Mini is playful and energetic, always ready for a game or a cuddle. She weighs 23 pounds and likes car rides, running, and playing chase with her sister. She is easygoing and submissive with dogs but also cautious and occasionally fearful. She has no experience with children and her fearful nature is leading us to require that kids in the home be at least 15 years old. She may need a bit of training to help her overcome her fears and learn to trust more, but she is quick to warm up with a gentle approach. She is inexperience with leash walking and has had no opportunity to learn about house training. Her finders say that she knows the sit, no, and down commands. Adopting Mini means giving her the chance for a secure and loving home where she can truly flourish. (tw 12/9/2025)

Story
Looking for an active, smart boy who would love a structured home with plenty of exercise?  Chevy is your guy!     Chevy has been in our program for a few years now as he needs to go to that perfect home that understands him and his needs.  You see, Chevy is a working/herding breed of dog and was on his own to fend for himself for so long on the rough streets of Houston that he's leery of people until he gets to know you.  Chevy had been living under a truck for a while (it was a Chevy) while a Scout's Honor volunteer was working to gain his trust. He kept going every day to feed him and give him some attention. The business near where he was let him come onto their property and provided him some shelter.  Unfortunately, because there was a busy street nearby, Chevy got bumped by a few cars when he was out and about and lost a few teeth as a result.  Luckily, he did not sustain any significant injuries, and just needed to eat and get a bath.  Fast-forward a few years, Chevy is in boarding and loves other dogs and loves to play !  He is a high energy dog, but is also very smart and alert. He needs A LOT of exercise and positive reinforcement, but will pick up very quickly on what you are teaching him. He would be a great dog for agility or flyball!!  As long as you keep him busy and challenged he will impress you with how well he can learn things. He just wants someone who will give him the direction, attention and structure he wants/needs. He would make a great dog for an active home with NO kiddos.  Kiddos are just too unpredictable for this guy.  He also needs a home that understands how to properly introduce him to new people and watch his cues.  Chevy can be very protective of his people and area, so proper intros are a must.  He would do best in a home that does not have a lot of new people coming in/out. True to his Kelpie/Basenji breed, Chevy likes to herd and run and play .  Check out this video of him just having a grand time running - look at those turns!      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L81s-TWX9SA&feature=youtu.be  Kelpie's/Basenji's are unique problem solvers and will find a way to do whatever he deems necessary.  True to these breed, he will also be fierlcy protective of his family (getting back to proper intros).  Chevy fits these traits to a T, and anyone who knows and loves the herding breeds would just adore little Chevy!!   Chevy is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and micro-chipped.   Please contact us at info@scoutshonor.org if you are interested in fostering or adopting this precious guy!  You can read all about our foster and adoption process, as well as make a donation for his care, on our website at www.scoutshonor.org.    Scout's Honor Rescue is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill TX shelters. EIN # is 87-0773073 Follow us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/scoutshonorrescue or Instagram at www.instagram.com/scoutshonorrescue We have multiple ways to donate: Venmo:  @ScoutsHonor-Rescue Paypal: www.paypal.me/scoutshonorrescue   https://scoutshonor.org/take-action/donate/ We are strictly volunteer based, no salaries are paid and 100% of donations go towards rescuing dogs January 22, 2025, 6:49 pm

Meet Journey!Blue eyed Journey is a 4 ½-year-old, 80-pound bundle of energy and love! He’s playful, sweet, and goofy, always ready for fun and adventure. Journey absolutely loves to run, so he would thrive in a home with a large outdoor space where he can stretch his legs and play.He is crate trained, house trained, and knows several commands, including:•Sit•Five (high-five)•Toy (he’ll fetch his toy for you)• Haula (crate in Spanish—he’ll go right in!)Journey enjoys playing fetch and is eager to please, though he still needs some work on leash training. He has not been around cats but does great with people and loves to have fun.He is currently in Houston, TX, and can be transported to most states for a fee of $300.

Story
Chaya is a purebred female Shiba Inu, 6 years old, born June 26, 2019. She was purchased from Mas Little Paws in Arkansas. She is up to date on all vaccines and comprehensives as of September 2025. Chaya is an excellent watchdog for a small dog. Chaya was trained at Meadowlake Pet in Pearland, primarily as she has anxiety due to a large wall art piece falling that scared her when she was still a very young puppy. Chaya was not injured at all but she jumped the high gate out of fear. Chaya is a very loving dog. Chaya has been socialized with other dogs at Shiba Meetups & dog parks. It is important that she is re-homed to a home that is familiar with the Shiba Inu breed. Shiba Inus are very cat like. Shiba inus are natural hunters and should at all times be on a leash if not inside and in a securely gated yard. This is very important information for anyone seriously interested in having a Shiba Inu. It is also very important that Chaya is rehome to a caring and loving person.
