Hi there! I’m Benny, a super active and playful boy, and I’m on the lookout for my forever home! No one knows exactly what I am—maybe a Carolina dog mix? But one thing’s for sure: I’m 100% good boy, through and through!
I’ve been at FMAR for almost a year now, and while the staff here are amazing, I’m eagerly awaiting the day I find my furever home. I’ve got so much love and adventure to share, and I’m ready to start this next chapter with the right family!
I’m incredibly smart and food-motivated, which means I pick up new tricks and commands in no time! I already know “sit” and “down,” and I’m working on mastering more. My sharp focus and boundless energy make me an excellent candidate for scent work or agility training—let’s put my talents to good use! When I’m not learning something new, you can find me running around the yard playing fetch with my favorite tennis ball. But hey, I’m not all about the action—I also love a cozy cuddle session with my humans, and being brushed is a must for me!
I’ve also got a great independent streak—I love playing with my toys for hours! If it squeaks, I’m absolutely hooked! Those squeaky toys are my absolute favorite, and I can keep myself entertained with them all day long. Whether I’m tossing them around or carrying them from room to room, I’m always happy with a squeaky toy in my mouth.
I’m fantastic on walks, always excited to sniff and explore everything around me. I could walk forever if you let me! Being outdoors is my happy place, and I love playing until I’m ready to relax in the shade. That makes me an ideal jogging or hiking partner for someone who loves outdoor adventures as much as I do.
I’m looking for an experienced owner who can match my energy level and help me navigate some of my quirks. I can be a little shy around new people, so I need someone who can offer patience, reassurance, and love as I build trust. Once I’ve bonded with you, I’m 100% loyal and ready to be your best companion. I’ve formed strong connections with my handlers here at FMAR, and I’m eager to do the same with my future family.
Because I’m full of energy and a bit sensitive, I’d do best in a home without cats or young children (I’d prefer kids over 12 years old). I’ve done great walking with other dogs, so I could enjoy a dog sibling if we have a proper introduction.

If you would like to meet Benny, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received.
**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.
