Story
Meet Marvel! Marvel is an almost two-year-old Carolina Dog/Basenji mix from Randallstown, MD, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a luxuriously tan coat. This athletic and spirited boy is ready to explore the world by your side! Marvel thrives on outdoor adventures. Whether it’s bounding through the woods on a hike, joining you for a jog, or chasing a ball, his zest for life will keep you energized. Marvel is also a clever and curious learner who loves puzzle toys and has already mastered tricks like “sit” and “spin.” With his quick mind and eagerness to please, Marvel is excited to learn even more from the right trainer or owner. Marvel has resource guarding tendencies, which means he may act protectively around food, toys, or other valued items. He has made progress with training, but his future family will need to be patient, consistent, and committed to helping him continue this work. Marvel’s adoption includes a professional canine behaviorist session to guide his transition and provide tools to support his success. With the right training and understanding, Marvel can thrive and grow into the incredible companion he’s meant to be. Marvel’s future family should also be active and adventurous, sharing his love for the outdoors. A fenced yard would be a bonus, but daily exercise and engaging activities are essential. While he enjoys the company of other dogs, Marvel would do best with a savvy owner who can manage introductions and interactions thoughtfully. Marvel is crate-trained and comfortable being alone for short periods. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped, with a solid obedience training foundation and a willingness to keep learning. If you’re excited to build a lifelong bond with Marvel and are ready to guide him as he continues to grow and overcome his resource-guarding tendencies, he could be the perfect addition to your family. Story
Meet Ruby! A smart and snuggly two-and-a-half-year-old Arubian Cunucu from Shirley, MA, whose vibrant tan coat complements her adventurous spirit. Ruby weighs about 45 pounds and brings a delightful mix of energy, affection, and intelligence to every day! Whether she’s your hiking sidekick, tug-of-war champion, or cuddle buddy on a cozy evening, Ruby is always ready for a new adventure or a quiet moment by your side. Ruby’s love for outdoor play is unmatched! She thrives on games like hide-and-seek with her treats, playing chase with a ball, or a good round of tug-of-war. Her Kong toys and Jolly Ball are her favorites, but what she truly cherishes is quality time spent with her people. Ruby knows an impressive array of commands, from "sit" and "leave it" to "touch" and "heel," showcasing her eagerness to learn and engage with her caregivers. While Ruby is affectionate and loyal to those she trusts, she has shown sensitivity in specific situations. She has a bite history—two strong nips without skin puncture, one occurring recently. Both incidents were related to discomfort with collar removal, highlighting an area where she needs continued support and care. Ruby thrives with a calm, patient, and experienced pet parent who can help her build confidence and navigate challenges through positive reinforcement. Ruby is also reactive on walks to unfamiliar things like cats, dogs, and strangers and can become anxious about resource guarding objects like socks or trash. However, she does well when redirected with high-value treats, and her progress in training lays a strong foundation for ongoing development. Health-conscious and well-cared-for, Ruby is spayed, microchipped, house-trained, and up to date on vaccinations. Due to allergies, her diet requires a little extra care—her food is stored in the freezer to keep pesky storage mites at bay. A home without cats or other pets, and with a fenced yard, would be ideal for Ruby to explore safely. Ruby is not just a pet; she’s a constant companion who loves to be near her people. Are you ready to provide Ruby with the structure, care, and love she needs to shine? Email adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about this loving, spirited girl and start your journey together! Could Ruby be your next adventure buddy?

Story
Sandy is an adorable, loving, and playful young girl with a heart full of joy. She was found abandoned next to a cyanide waste runoff, and it was sheer luck that a compassionate plant worker spotted her in time. Recognizing the danger, he managed to keep her safe until his shift was over, at which point she hopped right into his car, clearly ready for a new chapter in life. After a visit to the local animal shelter, Sandy was taken home by her rescuer, who couldn't bear to let her stay in the overcrowded shelter. She's been flourishing in a loving foster home, where she's shown her true personality: a friendly, social, and incredibly smart pup! Sandy is great with dogs of all sizes, including her first foster sibling, a tiny 6 lb micro dachshund. She's been socialized with many dogs through doggy daycare, where she's done wonderfully. Whether it's running around with her dog friends or cuddling with her human family, Sandy thrives on companionship. She's also an absolute champ in the car, ready for any adventure you want to take her on. This sweet girl would be perfect for a family that enjoys outdoor activities like walks, ball games, or just hanging out together. She loves people of all ages and has never met a stranger! Story
Brooke Dean is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! This sweet, playful pup adores people, kids, and other dogs. She’s full of love and will happily jump up for kisses! Brooke enjoys playing with toys, entertaining herself, and romping with other dogs. She loves walks and is doing great with house training. While she prefers not to be crated alone, she’s not destructive outside of it. She’s eager to learn, already sitting for treats, and working on "paw." Brooke thrives in a home with another dog or people around. Whether you’re a single adopter or a family with dogs, she’s ready to be your companion! If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Be sure to check our Facebook page "Rhode Home Rescue" for details on upcoming events and other announcements. Brooke is a sweet girl who enjoys playing with other dogs! So far she's done great with house training and walking on the leash. She's not a huge fan of the crate and won't go in willingly but it's a work in progress. She does eventually settle after a little crying. She loves toys and treats. Although Brooke is a tiny girl she doesn't let that stop her! She is able to jump pretty high, and is always down for a snuggle.
